January 8, 2023 Bus Route & Service Changes

Here's a list of bus route and service changes taking effect starting January 8th (today). Weekday changes take effect on January 9th, and Saturday changes take effect on January 14th. Keep in mind that some other routes also had new timetables come out, but these were limited to formatting changes in the timetable, or minor trip time changes (<5 minutes) which were negligible. This isn't a very big list compared to other schedule changes, however there are some notable changes below. 

The Bronx

Bx18 - Route Relabeled to Bx18A/Bx18B, Service Changes

• Buses have been relabeled as follows to alleviate confusion:
  • Bx18A - Undercliff Loop (Macombs Road section first, then via Undercliff to East 168/170 Street segments)
  • Bx18B - Sedgwick Loop (East 168/170 Street segments first, then via Sedgwick Avenue to River Park Towers & Macombs Road section)
• Bx18B / Bx18 Sedgwick Loop Weekdays
  • 8:35 AM-9:30 AM: Service will now operate every 10-15 minutes instead of every 20 minutes (+2 trips)
• Bx18A / Bx18 Undercliff Loop Weekdays
  • The 5:00 (first) and 5:30 AM (second) trips will now depart at 5:10 and 5:40 AM, respectively
  • The 6:00 AM trip will now depart at 6:05 AM
  • 6:30 AM - 8:30 AM: Trips will be shifted by two minutes earlier
  • The 6:42 AM trip will be discontinued (-1 trip)
  • 8:30 AM - 9:20 AM: Trips will operate every 10 minutes instead of every 20 minutes (+3 trips)
  • 9:20 AM - 3:21 PM Trips will be shifted to operate 8 minutes later
  • 3:22 PM - 6:50 PM Trip times will be shifted between 7 minutes earlier and 3 minutes later
  • A 6:55 PM trip will be added (+1 trip)
  • 9:30 PM-12:20 AM: Trip times will be shifted 5 minutes later
  • The 12:59 AM trip will now depart at 12:55 AM
• Bx18B / Bx18 Sedgwick Loop Saturdays
  • The first trip at 5:00 AM will now depart at 5:15 AM
  • Before 9:00 AM: Buses will now depart at :15 and :45, instead of :00 and :30
  • 9:00 AM - 6:59 PM: Buses will now depart 10 minutes later than the pre-2023 schedule
  • 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM: Buses will now depart at :12, :32, and :52 instead of :00, :20, and :40
  • After 9:00 PM: Trip times will be shifted up to 5 minutes later, with the last bus departing at 12:15 AM (instead of 12:10 AM)
• Bx18A / Bx18 Undercliff Loop Saturdays
  • 4:01 PM - 9:29 PM: Trips departing Grand Concourse will now leave 2 minutes later
• Bx18B / Bx18 Sedgwick Loop Sundays
  • The first trip at 5:00 AM will now depart at 4:55 AM
• Bx18A / Bx18 Undercliff Loop Saturdays
  • The first trip at 5:00 AM will now depart at 5:10 AM
  • Before 8:30 AM: Buses will now depart at :10 and :40, instead of :00 and :30
  • The 8:30 AM trip will now depart at 8:35 AM
  • 8:31 AM - 2:20 PM: Trips will now depart 5 minutes earlier than the pre-2023 schedule
  • 2:21 PM - 8:44 PM: Trips will now depart 10 minutes earlier than the pre-2023 schedule
  • After 8:45 PM: Trips will depart at :15 and :45 instead of :10 and :40, with the last trip departing at 12:45 AM instead of 12:40 AM

Bx28 - Weekday Evening Service Decreases

• Trips leaving Fordham between 9:15 PM and 10:54 PM will change as follows (-1 trip):
  • OLD - 9:37 PM, 10:03 PM, 10:15 PM, 10:27 PM, 10:39 PM, 10:54 PM
  • NEW - 9:35 PM, 9:55 PM, 10:15 PM, 10:35 PM, 10:54 PM
• The trip departing Co-Op City at 8:36 PM will now depart at 8:31 PM
• A new 9:30 PM trip from Co-Op City to Norwood will be added, which will be the new last trip of the night to skip Northern Co-Op City (+1 trip)

Bx38 - Weekday Trip Changes, Span Increase

• The 6:30 AM trip from Valentine Avenue & East 192nd Street (Fordham) to Co-Op City will now originate at Bainbridge Avenue & East 206th Street (Norwood) at 6:47 AM
• A new trip will be added from Norwood at 10:25 PM, which will now be the last trip of the day, which was formerly the 10:07 PM trip (+1 trip)
• The 9:25 PM final trip of the night from Co-Op City to Fordham will now depart at 9:22 PM and no longer run past Norwood
  • Use the new 9:30 PM Bx28 scheduled two minutes later along Gun Hill Road (see Bx28 changes)

Brooklyn

B67 & B69 - Weekday and Saturday Trip Time Changes

• Weekdays:
  • B67 SB, 9:34 AM - 1:30 PM: Trip departure times from pre-2023 have shifted by up to 11 minutes early
  • B69 SB, 10:07 AM - 2:00 PM: Trip departure times from pre-2023 have shifted by up to 9 minutes early
• Saturdays:
  • Many daytime trip time changes by up to 7 minutes
  • B67 NB, 9:15 PM - 12:20 AM: Buses will depart Kensington 5-12 minutes earlier
  • B67 SB: The 9:38 PM trip to Kensington will now depart Sands Street at 9:47 PM
  • B69 SB: The last trip to Kensington will depart Sands Street at 10:03 PM instead of 9:46 PM
  • B67 SB, 10:00 - 10:59 PM: Buses will depart Sands Street up 10-13 minutes later
  • B67 SB, After 11 PM: Buses will depart Sands Street at :25 and :55 instead of :30 and :00, with exception of the final 1:30 AM trip which will now depart at 1:35 AM 

Manhattan

M1 - Weekday Service Starts Earlier, More Service to/from SoHo

• The first northbound trip of the day will now depart SoHo at 5:07 AM and East Village at 5:12 AM, instead of 6:00 AM and 5:35 AM, respectively
• NB 5:12 AM - 6:32 AM (from East Village): Service will operate every 20 minutes instead of every 30 minutes (+2 trips)
• SB: The first trip from 147th Street will now depart at 4:00 AM towards SoHo in addition to added 4:27 AM trip  (instead of 4:47 AM to East Village only, and 5:07 AM to SoHo; +2 trips)

M79 - WB Route Change, Overnight Service Frequency Reduction, Trip Time Changes Due to Ongoing Construction near turnaround at Riverside Drive

• WB buses will officially travel via West End Avenue, West 72nd Street, and Riverside Drive to West 79th Street and end
• New route expected to increase trip times by up to 9 minutes
• Overnight service (1:00 AM to 4:00 AM) will now operate every 45 minutes instead of every 40 minutes
• Weekend AM trip times have changed by up to 12 minutes

Staten Island

S93 - Service to Bay Ridge Before 7 AM starts Now Officially Starts at Victory Boulevard Entrance of CSI
