Dutchess County Bus System Redesign Effective June 1, 2024

Recommended Posts

Apparently there was some study done with DCPT / LOOP and consulting firm Nelson/Nygaard to improve bus service, citing strong ridership increases in recent years. As a result, Dutchess County will roll out a restructured countywide system starting June 1st, 2024. It was initially proposed to take into effect March 30th, but it was pushed back to June 1st after public comments, in particular with the initial proposal that discontinued service to Red Hook, Bard College, and Tivoli in the north.

The more noticeable route changes are in the City of Poughkeepsie, as most of the routes are centered there. The city network has been overhauled there which has also impacted several other county routes in the city. Outside of Poughkeepsie, the route structure has stayed the same, however there are some notable alignments in the Beacon area as well. Certain areas are losing all bus service.

Below are the proposed changes, the schedules are listed here

  • BM5 via Woodhaven changed the title to Dutchess County Bus System Redesign Effective June 1, 2024

@BM5 via Woodhaven Do the A & B currently run on Sunday? (I think they do, but just double-checking). The new schedule has 4 round-trips on Sunday.

It looks like the D will be the only Dutchess route left that actually connects to the Harlem Line, with all of 3 trips per day...ugh...

Sunday schedule does exist on those routes, and is not being changed.
