WOW! It's still ongoing? I remember hearing about this earlier this afternoon around 4:30 on the 2 train coming into Franklin Ave with the C/R saying because of a fire around Jackson Ave, 2 trains are ending at 96 St and for anybody heading to the bronx needed to get off @ Franklin for the 4 train to 149-GC for a shuttle bus

It is STILL ongoing as of now. Service is able to run, but northbound (2)(5) trains are express only, which is odd, considering southbound (5) trains are supposed to be express now.

Are they forcing southbound (5) local due to the single track?

It is. The (5) is suspended.

Also, following an earlier smoke condition at the Jackson Avenue Station, Brooklyn College-bound (2) train service has resumed with residual delays. Wakefield-bound (2) trains are running on the express track between the 149th Street-Grand Concourse Station and the East 180th Street Station.

There is no (5) train service in both directions between the 149th Street-Grand Concourse Station and the East 180th Street Station.

As an alternative, Metro North Railroad is cross honoring Metro Cards at the Wakefield, Woodlawn and the Williamsbridge Stations. Also, customers at the East 180th Street Station are advised to use Bx40 and Bx42 buses running along East Tremont Avenue to nearby (D) and (4) trains.
