  1. But there's only one line, the , that uses the tunnel to go to DeKalb Avenue (though the replaces the there late at night).
  2. I'd rather go back to extending the SAS through that tunnel...
  3. The Montague Street Tunnel used to handle up to three services when the north tracks of the Manhattan Bridge were closed, and they were the , , and (in 2003, the and ran through the tunnel on weekends when the did not run to Astoria). But nowadays, much of its available capacity is unused. How can we make the tunnel's available capacity more useful? (I once proposed connecting SAS to the tunnel via the unused connection south of the Broad Street station but scrapped this idea based on feedback.)
  4. It's about time the Canarsie Line gets skip-stop service, especially since the is getting overcrowded nowadays. I think it'll be beneficial in the long run. What do you think?
  5. A tunnel to the existing station, or a new level below it?
  6. That's not all true, because the B39 bus originates at Marcy and crosses the Williamsburg Bridge to Manhattan, so there you go.
  7. Where and how would a connection to the Forest Hills-71 Av station be built?
  8. To be honest, I never lived in Ridgewood before. I grew up in Elmhurst and now I live in the Bronx in Westchester Square. Also, I never had an account under the name Q90 (and was a member here long before Q90), so leave me alone. Thank you
  9. Here's another suggestion to increase usefulness of the 63rd Street line: -Reroute the back to the Nassau Street line, terminating at Broad Street on weekdays -Introduce a new SAS service to replace the along Queens Boulevard, operating weekdays between Forest Hills and Hanover Square (assuming all phases of the SAS are finished) What do you think?
  10. How is it possible to construct a Queens Boulevard bypass along the LIRR tracks? You can't just build in subway connections onto the ROW and then start service. Also, an SAS service to Queens would sound like a better idea for usage of the bypass than rerouting current services.
  11. Where will the bypass be routed? Routing it through the Transit Museum is a big no-no. Many people have vigorously fought to save the museum from closure not long ago...
  12. The SAS extension through the tunnel would use the existing Nassau Street connection, which is not currently used in revenue service. Also, Western Queens would definitely use another line because the Astoria line is already getting overcrowded.
  13. Here's one of my old proposals, but I revised it this time again. It'll go into effect after Phase IV of the Second Avenue Subway is completed: There will be a new subway line under Steinway Street to 20th Avenue, branching off the and after Broadway. The new service that'll use this line will travel via the after 36th Street and veer off onto Second Avenue after Roosevelt Island, but will continue to Brooklyn via Hanover Square and the Montague Street tunnel instead of going across the Manhattan Bridge. Here are my plans: Plan A: Weekdays: between Steinway-20th Avenue and Bay Parkway via 63rd Street, Second Avenue, Fourth Avenue, and the West End Line Weekends: between Steinway-20th Avenue and Hanover Square via 63rd Street and Second Avenue Late nights: shuttle between Steinway-20th Avenue and Steinway Street-Broadway Plan B: Weekdays: between Steinway-20th Avenue and Kings Highway via 63rd Street, Second Avenue, Fourth Avenue, and the Sea Beach Line Weekends and late nights: Same as Plan A In both Plans A and B, the new service will run fully local, and trains will run local in Queens during late nights. At Hanover Square a free transfer to the , , , and trains at nearby stations will be available, and south of the Steinway Street station a new layup track will be built alongside one of the existing tracks for nightly shuttle trains. Which plan is better: A or B?
  14. I suggest extending the Q64 along 164th Street to the QM4's terminal at Horace Harding Expressway. What do you think?
  15. Would it be possible to demolish the current entrance and relocate the stairs, escalators, and elevators?
  16. Why didn't the MTA consider extending the tracks at Main Street to increase rush hour capacity?
  17. Since every north-south artery in Manhattan has express tracks, should the Second Avenue Subway have them, too?
  18. Therefore a revived 3rd Avenue subway would only work after the 2nd Avenue Subway has been completed
  19. What about the ? I just witnessed someone proposing a rebirth of the (8) train wanting to route it onto the Lex as a local.
  20. BTW, is it possible to run trains at 2-minute headways on Lex?
  21. Suppose a signal fire broke out at Forest Hills-71 Av, causing massive damage to vital equipment there. Now what?
