  1. I wonder if the R160s have a program for Q to Forest Hills-71 Av, like they did after 9/11,

    and the R160s should know about the BMT 63rd Street, so there can be a progam for Queensbridge via Broadway like they did with the 6th Ave Fastrack.

    During FASTRACK the Q was correctly programmed for Queensbridge, unless you are talking about something else.

    But anyways, they should preserve extra* R42 cars, at least one trains worth. Because think about it. When was the last time you've seen a famous video with the MTA in it? When was the last time you saw one with NTTs?

    It may seem like its asking a lot, but there is a very high demand for the R42s. Because if they only ran a two car train, it would look crappy.

  2. For those of you that haven't heard MITRAC.

    They sound a lot like the R142's, but are much sharper and louder. They would be music to any railfan's ears. It would especially give the NYC Subway a special kick. If the R179's have this propulsion a distinction between the new tech trains would be clear.

    Based off of what Iv'e gathered, according to non-railfanners it sounds more "high-tech". Having said that, it should go on the "Tourist" line A.K.A. The Broadway Line.

  3. Next:

    The overpass @E180th St has collapsed, at 2 AM on a Monday morning. The middle track can be opened up after one day, an the rest of the tracks and the station in three. Remember that access to E180th, Uniport, And 233rd St yards are cutoff.

  4. Bronx: Starts at Ny Oprhan Aym Rd, turn south on Palisade Rd, Turn Right on 254th st, Turn South on Independence Ave, Go down Alderbrook Ln to 247th St. 247th St to HHPKWY, to 246th St. East on 246th St. South on Post Rd and Bway. East on Van Cortlandt Park S, then up Goevenur Rd, (Orioff Ave in opposite direction). Contiune down Gun Hill Rd. South on Bronx Blvd to Burke Ave. South on Bouck Ave, Loop on Phelam Pkwy to Willamsbridge Rd, and Eastchester Rd, South on Jacobi Medical Center West, East on Morris Park Rd, South on Eastchester Rd, South on Waters Pl, Up Westchester Ave to Middletown Rd,Loop on Bruncker Blvd from Country Club Rd to Wilkinson Ave, then continue down Middletown Rd, end at Rice Stadium.

  5. Saw a NABI 35-LFW

    (Thanks for that mtatrain)

    On the 41 to Buckingham Pond today. It's been a while since they have even used short buses on there, but even when they did they always used the Gilligs.

    Also it looks like the NABI on the 18 is here to stay, because I saw it on the same run today.

    @mtatrain

    No, it was a regular blue Gillig Hybrid.

    @mark

    No no.....

    On almost all of the specials they use 06's and on pretty much all of the albany based routes during rush hour.

  6. If it's not too late to add them, why not add a "Changing Subway Map" which is pretty much an electronic subway map on the trains, which changes with service advisories. EX: No (C) between 59th St and 42nd St, the map would not display service on the (C) between 59th St and 42nd St.

  7. There aren't any switches nearby that would allow uptown trains to access the downtown track. (2)(3) trains would have to single-track from south of Wall Street; (1) trains from South Ferry. Once you had all the uptown trains on Track 2 (the downtown express track), you couldn't switch them back until after 34th Street.

    (Not to mention that I doubt the line is setup for that much wrong-railing.)

    Also, I concur with NX Express that your scenario doesn't make sense. Why is it cancelled? What part of the line is affected? What prevents me from just saying, "Create a new Y train from 205 Street to Coney Island via CPW/6 Av Express, 4th Av Express, and the West End Line" (or in other words, just rename the D something silly like the Y, or the greek letter pi, or the smiley face train)?

    First off, still, I would single track it.

    Also, regarding the (D) cancelation you have to provide service to every (D) station, along the route of the (D) given the current lines. So extennding the (:P from 145th St to Norwood would cover that section while the (B) is running. Like that.
