  1. Sure, but I don't think the B103 falls into that category.... Any tinkering to that route (for as fast as ridership has grown on that route, since it's command days) would loom detrimental - especially a split, like BreedDekalb done drew up..... IMO anyway....

But yeah, Give me some examples of some routes you think are outdated...

(I'm not even gonna argue whatever you list....)

Some that come to mind are those that terminate haphazardly in areas that were much more dense, such as the B45, B48, and others still I feel should be altered to better serve destinations that have increased demand, B1 & B49 serving KCC is a good example.

That taken into mind I'll say this much before it blows up in my face, I don't utilize Brooklyn routes on a daily basis in contrast to others here, so if that makes the opinion any less valid so be it.

  2. Eventually the B103 is going to become a victim of... exactly what BreedDekalb is illustrating - Being Split.

Which I think is gonna be a big mistake if the MTA does that.....

.....Which defeats the main purpose of why the B103 was even created, but w/e.....

The northern "split" of the real B103 (meaning b/w the junction & downtown brooklyn) wouldn't flourish (as to why, see response to Turbo, below).... They would get rid of the northern half & advise that riders take the subway, or the B37..... This would actually help the B37 more than an adding of stops along 3rd/4th av's on the B103... That saves way more money than splitting the current B103 & having the 103 & the 37 running along 3rd.....

Not even in theory, due to the fact that commuters aren't all too fond of 3-legged transfers.....

The folks coming from areas east of the junction on the 103 would not bother putting up w/ xferring to a slower version of the current 103 north of the junction (which is his "B103", as shown on the map) - They would simply make their way to Flatbush av subway (2)(5)....

Personally I simply think that many of Brooklyn's bus routes are outdated, and could be revised slightly to an extent to better serve passengers whenever possible.

That aside I do see the point you have established regarding the mode of choice in the equation. Now would that better serve passengers, it's up for debate but at any rate it might save some cash on the MTA's part.

  3. the b102 will be the local from canarsie to flatbush junction and the b103 will be the ltd from downtown brooklyn to flatbush and i created it

Great in theory if there is a three legged transfer from either route, which you have seemed to taken care of.

  4. This is a combination of BxM1 (3 Av and Lex and UES) and BxM2 (6 Av and 7 Av and UWS) to make it same as the rest of the Bronx express bus. Riverdale is only part of Bronx that has a seperate East and West side bus. All other part only have 5 Av/Madison Av express bus.

Alright, now I get what you are saying.

Personally I think there is sufficient warrant for the separate services, but I'll let other members input as well.

  5. Looking at Bronx bus idea forum. I saw someone come up with an idea for Riverdale Bus Proposal thread. I start with my first proposal, combine the BxM1 East Side and BxM2 West Side BxM18 via 5 Av/Madison Av

My new BxM18 will be like this

    Riverdale - 23rd Street route via 5 Av/Madison Av/Maj Deegan Expy

    Riverdale - 23rd Street route via 5 Av/Madison Av/Inwood

Riverdale - Wall Street route with bus operate with no stop in Manhattan north of 26th Street (s/b) and 29th Street (n/b)

This will be most efficient way to give Riverdale express bus

If moderator want to merge this into this thread http://www.nyctransitforums.com/forums/topic/34506-bronx-bus-proposalsideas-thread/page-137 do so

Truthfully that's not much different than how the current Bronx Manhattan routes are in their current form.

Some more details would be nice if you are still backing this proposal.

  6. The higher ups form the (MTA) read Qj's proposal to abandon the (3) for increased (2) service and thought the idea was genius.

All f**king hell would break loose and Brooklyn residents would be rioting in the streets. It would be total f**king anarchy.

  7. All this just for a store? Is this Whole Foods inside a shopping center or something?

    Free standing.

In retrospect it's somewhat justified as there is no direct transit to the immediate area, but Whole Foods would be the only location of interest in the immediate area.

The B61 isn't so far down being on 9th, so I think it suffices for now.
