  1. Yes even if it was a Victoria Secret Microsoft or T-Mobile wrap ad etc etc of course I would be opposed to it. Call me a foamer (and thanks for the compliment) but I dont like the idea of commercialism taking over the system to the point that we have NTTs rolling rolling rollin like mobile billboards.

As another fellow member said it takes away from the awesomeness of the subway cars. If I want to look for ads for phat sports cars (like I got the money), or the latest smartphones, or a buy a sexy piece of lingerie for my sexy lovely kittens to wear in the bedroom for me, or get the scoop on the next shit sitcom  I can google it or get it in the newspaper, thats all there is to it. I don't need Windows 8 wrap ads thrown on my face on an R142 or an R160 in this case to be in the know that a new product is out. Oh man, whats next? Wrap ads on the R188's?

Yeah what was the opposing arguement again before anyone asks? hey realizm then if you dont like it, then pay for operational costs with an extra 25 cents added to the fare with the next fare hike to pay for keeping the system in good working order blah blah played out arguement please. Ok I sure got an answer,  the answer is tell Albany get off their asses and give the MTA a break already with more funding and tell Pendergrast to stop the financial commitee to mismanage the funds. There.

I didn't know that this was a serious issue to you.

Anyhow I'm inclined to agree with your stance on invasive ads, and ads in general on transit vehicles. They're there to simply make  quick buck as the annual earning don't amount to a grand figure and the end scheme of things.

As for my comment on the Victoria's Secret ad, that stemmed from a convo where I said that I'd rather look at some women over a car, in reference to the Jaguar ad out now.

Its their trains, they can do whatever the hell they wanna do with them, its bringing in some kind of extra income dir them, if you don't like it, you better start walking

    ...there you go lmao

Public transit is meant to serve the public, so public input on various issues should be taken into consideration.

And i am paying for it by swiping my metrocard everytime I board the station therefore I expect decent service. Ha.  :D

    Right on!

  2. I think what hes saying is advertising a car on a train is weird because their advertising you to buy a car, looking at how good a car is, on a train car. When you think about, seems like somewhat of a weird senerio. Riding the train, but seeing a good looking car.

    Right on the money.

If it's any consolation, one of the new Nissan ads has a car driving onto the roof of a passing subway train to bypass traffic :P

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone know what font was used in the 1959 Salomon transit map?

    Why? Damn you Nissan.

And I unfortunately don't have an answer for your question.

Okay, with this, I take back my original statement. I failed to see this reason for some reason.

I'm not that much of a hater after all. I'm all for public transit, but shit, I'd be lying if I said I never considered owning a car for leisure purposes.

  3. The (C) is already a vintage line the way I see it.

You raise an excellent point, but I do believe this was more in reference to non revenue equipment.

Sure the R32's are older than shit but they're on that line every damn day.

    Since 1932.

No, it's only no that it's running crappy equipment.

The whole point was vintage equipment would be better than the food cans they have now, unless some where actually serious.

  4. There's a R160 that has been wrapped in a Jaguar ad. One of the car numbers is 9613.

Ironic as I was just discussing new wraps.

In my opinion we need a Victoria's Secret wrap, as only then will we see if the foamers have the audacity to bitch over that. Think of it as a test of sorts, a test that will prove a lot more than just who bitches, rather who enjoys them.

On a completely different note, after f**king around in the chatroom tonight the discussion of the (C) came up. I won't go into complete detail as some here are quite offended easily, but a joke proposal was made and I'd like to share it.

What if the (C) line to be the designated vintage line starting this spring, with all vintage equipment to replace current rolling stock for one day and one day only? Opinions, please.

  5. Well people believe that those are so helpful but they don't know about how much the MTA has to spend to do it to all 468 stations.

    Some don't care either.

Yes, of course finances restrict the rollout of some technologies, in addition to the size of the system. I think most people want the money to go to fare decreases or something other, which is wishful thinking.

  6. Lol what about routes that only run via one street? & Latley I been liking the current C40's a lot more than the originals.

In that case have fun with the transients on the :bus_bullet_b35:

It ain't cool unless there's a Clever Device touchscreen so I can hit the "P/S" button to trigger public service announcements for people who piss me off. Now a NICE 3rd Gen, that I'd go for.

I can see it now, tapping "for the comfort of others, please limit cell phone usage and volume" every 5 seconds when there's someone bitching away on their phone. Or "smoking, drinking and eating are not allowed on board, thank you" when some guy can't wait until he gets home to eat that McDonald's and throw all the garbage on the floor.

    It's called the intercom, lol.

  7. You know what I don't get? People say..."oh New Flyer has terrible build quality"

But what confuses me is the C40LF and the XD40, those C40LFs are super solid, takes bumps perfectly, no rattling, or squeaking. However, with the XD40s, all of them rattle, all of them sound like they will fall apart, although they do take bumps nicely. How is this possible if its by the same company New Flyer?

New Flyer does have terrible build quality, or at least it does now, which I find most transit vehicle manufacturers do at this time, but I digress.

The differences as far as the original Low Floor and the Xcelsior are quite stark looking in to it..

The LF had began development in 1988, and entered production three years later in 1991. Arguably the LF is derivative of the standard floor equivalents of the time, which are now unofficially referred to as HF's. As such the structural components are comprised of that made the HF's durable were carried over to the LF's. Further than that the model pioneered the semi low floor design which is predominately found in North American transit buses today.

The Xcelsior in contrast was a platform that began development in 2008 and didn't take off in the market for a good two years, until 2010. The intent with the Xcelsior was to revolutionize the industry by offering a vehicle that would lower costs and deliver performance as well as aesthetics at a reasonable rate. To achieve that New Flyer resorted to using different materials to achieve a lightweight structure which would give a greater fuel economy and reduce build costs. When possible composite and other lightweight components were used in place of stainless steel, etc, etc.

So in summary it's most likely a weight differential, along with an increased backlog which may rush production.

  8. Simple... That people who don't commit crimes 9/10 don't have a problem.

And the same stats you cite also state that all groups (regardless of race) were being stopped within proportion to the amount of crime that they commit, including White folks... Imagine that.

I think it's deplorable to make allegations that there is some sort of conspiracy going on to target certain individuals.  The stats seem to indicate otherwise.

And why was this not in my inbox? Screw it.

Being that I did say my piece in that now ruined DeBlasio thread in this section this is now redundant, but relevant nevertheless.

Read your last statement in the post I'm quoting, now read the statements in the following, which is a post you've made in this thread.

LOL... I know they only pick on certain minorities... :o I wonder why they exclude the Asians since according to you they have such a "vendetta" against minorities... <_< Could it be because their crime rates are low? Imagine that! I guess black on black crime is a form of "rebellion" against "the man"... Is that it? Smh...

The reason I bring this up is because the two statements are contradicting. It isn't a conspiracy due to the fact that it's clear as crystal.
