  1. Due to a fire on board a train, the Times Square - 42nd Street complex has been evacuated. Reroute trains accordingly.
  2. I don't understand either of their posts, honestly.
  3. Pfft... yeah right. People will complain about everything and anything. However, it's not just the riders... it's any line without the NTT trains. I was reading the R188 thread and I saw a member ranting about how the R62As are old and that the should keep its R142As... Not every line can get NTT trains. Deal with it. Wait patiently for the R179 order to wipe out the R32s, or avoid the subway. Also, when are the R42s being retired? Some claim that it will be when the R179s arrive, others claim that it will be when the SMS on the R32s is finished...
  4. Indeed, which is why I don't see why some people (namely railfans) find it necessary to nitpick everything about them. R32? Garbage. R160? Garbage. At the end of the day, they're trains, and they get you where you need to go. Enjoy the ride, and stop nitpicking. How about regular line riders who complain relentlessly about the R32s? Quite frankly I can feel no sympathy for them; the cars show up, they run, they get you from point A to point B. If you want luxury and comfort then take a cab or a limo, or shut it and ride like everyone else. I will not deny that the R32s are plagued with problems in their old age however, that doesn't make them bad cars though.
  5. R38s have been out of service since 2009, which is about 6-8 years before the R179 is expected to enter service. What exactly do they have to do with it? LOL
  6. Movements every day? Well... we'll see what happens in due time, of course, but... I'm not liking my odds... Thanks for the answer though.
  7. I have a question that I don't think has been covered before: when is the going to give up its R62As? Last time I was in New York (last month) I wanted to ride the but sadly it was not in the cards; however, it would be nice to get photos of a commonplace occurance that will become very rare in the future. I next plan to visit around Thanksgiving 2014. I've heard various things about their displacement, ranging from them no longer being on the line next year to remaining there until 2016 and quite frankly I'm not sure what to believe.
  8. I've heard that most conductors don't like the R42 trains because of a lack of seat and only one window in the conductor's cab. Is the lack of seat true for all the other similiar cars, such as the R32s? I've never seen the cabs of one of these things and I'm curious. Also, for those who have sat in them, do they feel cramped and uncomfortable?
