Express Bus Operator

Training is a must. You will have to attend a 7-10 Day on the road training with an Superintendent who will be your Instructor. You have to Qualify on day 7, 9 or 10 in order to have the job fully. In other words you have to perform all the task you have been thought and show the Superintendent you are capable to do the job. I hear some Superintendent starts to judge you on Day 5 and 6 to determine if you will be able to qualify on day 7. Driving is not the big deal for some people, But performing the task the way they want you to perform the job is the challenge. Only the best of the best will make it.

Its possible the same reason that happen to 2613. Eligibility list for 3101 may not have been successful with an large amount of candidates.

The passing score is a 70. So you way super high up there if that's the accurate score. If 2,000 candidates scored a 100 on the exam....They will be the first 2000 on the list. But in order to be considered on the eligible list. Its a must to pass the BOSS first.

According to the updates information located here http://web.mta.info/nyct/hr/4105.htm. They will be having two different testing date for the BOSS exam. So some applicants will be taking it on the 15th of November, and The remaining who was not schedule on the 15th of November will take it on another date. Since you took it already for Bus Operator Exam 3101 and Passed. Most likely you'll probably wont be schedule to take it on the 15th of November. Its a possible chance you will probably be on the reschedule list group.I believe they rather administrate the applicants who doesn't have a record of taking the exam before takes it first compare to someone who passed it already and put them on the reschedule list. Remember this is just a thought not facts. Best advice is, if by the 10th of November you do not receive anything, Just contact Exams Unit or Head down to the HQ just to verify if you are schedule on the 15th. I believe you will be reschedule Because I also took 3101 and passed and was not schedule to take the BOSS 4600 past October 4th.

lol....Its a freeze till the year is over. Its General Pick Season for current Bus Operators on the job. A lot of Bus Operators will be going all over the place so that's one of the main reason why they would do a hiring freeze. You can't just keep hiring without knowing exactly how many more new Operators they need at which depot until the General Pick is all over. Current Bus Operators new Route line will start sometime during January. And @Young is right. This probably the only place you can find some type of sources regarding hiring and etc based on what some of us post. MTA HR won't tell you every detail beside whats your current status or where they are at the moment based on who was the last appointee number. The Appointed number can be mix up since some people are place on medical hold or Put their list number on hold for other reasons. For the time being while we all wait, If you don't have your CDL permit or License, Try to work on that and drive safely without being ticketed for moving violations. Sooner or later our time will be up and we will be excited.

After every candidates that passed the written exam takes the BOSS for 4600. Keep in mind there's a heavy load of other candidates that did not take it on the 4th of October and they will be re-schedule at a later date. So it might be awhile especially since there's an hiring freeze at the moment and we still have Exam 2613 Applicants ahead of 4600.

I did that this morning. It was helpful instead of going to the DMV and wait for no reason. They're re-mailing it and should receive it by November 4th.

Yes your question has been answered Numerous time on this thread and other current Bus Operator Exam's Thread. The BOSS is a Psych test where they're trying to figure out what type of Bus Operator you will probably be. The Questions are multiple choice answers where they ask Personal questions about you and other work ethical related. Believe it or not, A high percentage of people fails it sometimes. Some of the question will be repeated multiple times, but asked and worded differently where your answer must be consistent. Congrats on your CDL License. Although you have your license, that will not make you skip to an hiring process as soon as possible. Everyone is called in the order of the way the list is establish. So if you are List number 321, List number 320 will be ahead of you. Since Exam 4105 is MaBSTOA Division, You only take the BOSS exam. There's no high score placement. Its either you passed or not. You will or should have received an random list number. Now having your CDL Class BP or A is a good thing when it comes to the final step during the 7-10 day qualification training. Yeah, and got a receipt. I check last night on the DMV website and type in my ID information and check for the mailing status. It stated that i should of gotten the license on the 14th of August. So I have to call them on Tuesday to report that I never received it. But I gotta better luck going to the DMV instead of calling.

Oh Crap... I need to figure out whats going on. Still haven't receive anything in mail and that was since August.

Newmatt or Young, how long did it take for you two to receive the License in mail?

Yeah I figure that would happen sooner or later since the 126 Depot is temporary closing. A lot of the operators from that depot are being transferred all over temporary. My pops depot alone carrying some of their line over like the M15 temporary and they were already picking Lines they would work for the rest of the year. Sucks knowing a freeze might be taking place,

Hey Hockey. 3621 or 3613 was the actual numbers of candidates who passed Bus Operator Exam 2613 written and BOSS last year. Chances are 4600 may have a longer list if a lot of candidates actually pass the BOSS exam as well. Bus Operator exam 2613 (which is the TA Group before this group) is almost half through the list, and like @Young Mention,They are already in the 1800 - 2100's from Bus Operator Exam 2613. 4600 list will be establish once every candidate who passed the written exam takes the BOSS exam. I'm guessing it might be Mid-Year of 2015 or late till we see 4600 start becoming the next Hiring pool. All we can do while we wait is make sure we stay clean from trouble and license issues.

As long that slip wasn't expired when you got the parking ticket, you can take it to court and show proof. They will probably match the time the ticket was issued and your parking meter time. Its all up to you if you want to go through the court hassle. Good Luck.

Good feedback from everyone so far that took the exam today I hope you all did good. We still have another large group of applicants still did not take the BOSS exam. Once they take it, The count down will begin. Looks like By the end of the year or Early new year the list maybe establish. But that will take place after Every Candidate who passed the written test takes the BOSS exam. Good Luck 4600

Hey Stacks27 if you are 21 now, you are all set. Just have to make sure you don't get any serious Moving Violation Tickets, Accidents and have either a CDL Class B/P Permit or Full License by the time you are appointed.

@Tee yeah I agree with @Hockey. Some will get them Probably this weekend. Depends where you live. I remember I use to live somewhere my mails would be delayed a day or two because of the post office location delivery time was strange. Give it Till Saturday - Tuesday.

You will pass. Remember you just cant get over 50 points or do major safety error. Overall you will pass once you know how to operate on the road full alert. Practice doing straight backing and parking.

All agency within MTA has to take the Boss exam in order to consider moving forward to the next round with employment process. The BOSS exam that you will be taking on the 4th of October is for TA exam 4600. You need to pass that in order to be place on the list and moving forward.

I emailed the exam units asking about the BOSS exam that we took for MaBSTOA 3101, If we passed that already, would it be usable for any upcoming bus operator exams. What do you think?

Hey @MTAhopeful1. Your list number will be place according to the written exam you took back in December. Scoring a 93 means a higher list number. Remember the passing score is 70. The Higher your score, the higher your list number will be, but that all determined how many applicants scored higher. People who took the written exam in December and passed will be required to take the BOSS exam in order to receive their list number. As it has been mention across the forum and many other threads regarding the BOSS exam. They are multiple questions that are repeated a few times but worded and asked differently where you have to answer either Strongly Agree, Agree, Strongly Disagree, Disagree. The test is a survey that many retailer jobs provides to their applicant before they are appointed. Candidates who pass the BOSS exam based on the actual score from the written exam they took back in December 2013 will determined where you are on the list. Anyone that fails the BOSS exam regardless if you passed the written exam will be disqualified from the opportunity moving forward with MTA. I took the Survey before for exam 3101, They are not hard questions at all, it just being consistence with your answers. There's no wrong or right answers, but are you the type of applicant they are looking for. Well let me rephrase that.....They looking for the right answer they would want to hire. Example Question: "Do you consider yourself a tidy person?" Strongly Agree , Agree, Neutral, Strongly Disagree, Disagree.
