  1. Port Authority didn't put out any alerts... I don't know.

EDIT: It's the SEIU thugs. Can't post the link from my phone, but it's them and PAPD is taking care of the situation. Apparently they're trying to block the 94th Street entrance to LGA.

Yeah man, how dare those damn thugs demand that...their jobs not be outsourced and benefits they paid into not be taken away? I guess they should be REAL MERICUHNS and celebrate it? I never understand this line of thought.

  2. It hasn't been a full year. It would make 0 sense to use a 2011-built bus as a 2013-2014 demonstration bus because they would have to test the buses with the newest and updated specs.

Nope, only just recently. MOST orders are based off of the demos that come straight from the factory, hence why we had an LFSA demo before the 5000s came in, the MCI demo in 2011 and the apparent x3-45 demo that was shot in Brooklyn.

After the factory-spec'd buses were tested, if they win the order, thats when the specs are being made for them.

Speaking of which, it's the 4th gen LFS that we'll be getting, right?

Also wondering if there's any 2nd gen Xcelsior model around the corner. The current one is...shitty.

  3. I guess the consensus is that these things shouldn't even be operating this long to begin with, but that falls on the MTA who hasn't received a single piece of the new order.

That's my view on it. They need to start being retired from service, which they will when those new XD40s and LFSes start rolling in.

  4. So im not the only one complaining about those RTS.

Was this Wednesday you was on 4136? Because i was too. And yeahh i know about the motor you are talking Bout sounds like the BYD Electric Bus demo the MTA had.

Was on 4136 Thursday. Motor wasn't even a big deal to me much as how the hell was that Cummins piece of shit in the back so quiet the whole ride.

Those poor RTSes, they gave a lot of service to this city, but a lot of them are so badly beat up. The one I was on today felt like the whole damn thing was gonna fall to bits at every bump.

  5. Was on an Ulmer Park RTS today, didn't catch the number, didn't give a shit. Jesus Christ those things are in awful shape.

On a positive note, was on 4136 a few days ago on the S79. Other than the bus not being wrapped, the diesel generator was damn quiet, while the electric motor sounded like some warp drive space ship, so that was interesting.

  6.

Was on 455 today and that thing takes off like a goddamn top fuel dragster. Guessing it's a C40LF without LBSS...not that LBSS C40LFs go slow when not heavily loaded either.

They can still move with LBSS..it just takes a little longer to take off.

Agreed completely. They're damn good quality buses and move well LBSS or not, but 455 was a total rocketship, hence me guessing it was a non-LBSS bus. And you make a good point about the build quality. Amazing that the C40LFs are basically on par with the 3Gs while the XD40s are rattly messes. I think NFI just started rushing when building the XD40s. I guess with the C40LFs, the fact that production had been going for over a decade (so workers know the build like the back of their hand) and that there was no need to pump them out quickly to impress allowed for a steady build and great quality.

  7. LOL... I know they only pick on certain minorities... :o I wonder why they exclude the Asians since according to you they have such a "vendetta" against minorities... <_< Could it be because their crime rates are low? Imagine that! I guess black on black crime is a form of "rebellion" against "the man"... Is that it? Smh...

I'll site the statistics one last time just to see if maybe you have any working brain cells: 90% of targets of stop-and-frisk were black or latino, of which 88% were innocent. So yes, they are picking on certain minorities; based entirely on the color of their skin (and a few officers testified as such). That's awful and disgusting, and that you're happy about it tells us all we need to know about you. It's pretty damn sad that in the year 2013, in NYC of all places, this still goes on and people like you are delighted in it.

*One last thing: as a white dude, you're statistically much more likely to be a victim of a crime by a white person. I know, but durrr Bill O'Reilly told me only black people commit crime!

  8. Oh I know, blame the "system" "the man" "poverty"... Did you forget anything else? lol Sorry but we live in a country where plenty of people come from poverty and make it out just fine.  Come up with another excuse because these aren't working. The fact of matter is some people have a problem taking responsibility for their own actions.  I'm aware of the whole low income and crowded urban areas set up and what results from that, but let's not go overboard with that.  At the end of the day we make choices in life as to what path we're going to take and if you want to give yourself excuses, then there are plenty of them out there that can be used.

    ----

Anywho, this X28 nonsense needs to be dropped.  Give them their X29 back and call it a day.

Yes, people make bad choices, and they should be punished for them. The NYPD, in their wisdom, punishes black and latino males for the "Bad Choice" of being black or latino. Nice argument there, ace.

  9. Nothing surprising about that... Compare the population sizes of those two groups though and it still confirms what I said in the previous post.

As for the X28, it serves a completely different ridership base....  Let it the way that it is.

    Are you illiterate or something?

How many times do I have to explain the difference between incarceration rates and crime rates? I just gave your dumb racist ass a whole essay on it and you still beat on. One last time: major factor in crime rate, statistically, is low income and crowded urban areas. Race makes zero difference. If incarceration rates are higher despite same rate of crime (see: weed....and everything else), then the problem is the system. Damn it man, you sound more and more like an actual klansman every time with this shit.

I guess extending x28 would get them on transit to Manhattan.

Can't do that. What do you do with the service to Sea Gate then?

  10. He can be hit with my bankai   but yeah howwill provosts change a weak route.

The folks in those towers seem pretty scared shitless of the subway stop right next to them, so they might not use public transit unless it looks fancy enough for them or something. Maybe running the route down Brighton West rather than Surf might help with having it be in the middle of the residential blocks rather than on the edge.

  11. LOL... You don't have to believe it because the facts speak for themselves.  Go read up on it.  And for the record, go look up which groups have the highest incarceration rates in New York City and in the U.S. for that matter in proportion to their respective populations.

As for welfare, that's no shocker.  I never stated any particular race.  I said "people"...

You realize crimes and incarceration rates are separate matters, right? Blacks get incarcerated more than twice as likely for weed alone despite every statistical study showing that actual usage of the substance per capita in the respective races is the same. Pointing out that the American justice system pretty openly discriminates based on race and laughing about it is pretty sadistic. There is no magic crime gene in those scary black people you see sometimes. Crime happens more often in dense, urban, poor populations. By every measure, a dense (get it, more people, so more crime possibilities for criminal interaction?) and poor environment is what causes crime, not skin color. In less dense populations, crime rates are the same among blacks and whites. A higher chance of a black or latino person living in a dense, urban environment does not mean they are innately inferior to your pampered white ass. It means a dense, urban and poor environment is more likely to lead to crime. But why do I bother? Facts be damned when it's much easier to say "everyone except white people are inferior scum who belong in cages." I at first assumed you were just ignorant with your other "OMG I'm scared of the subways" posts back in the day, but you've shown yourself in this thread to be a disgusting racist ass.

To stay on subject...the X29, in combination with the new order of Prevosts, might make the X29 a good idea for a restored route. If the towers and people by CI Ave can be made aware of the route (and if the (MTA) goes for a leap of faith and starts service with good headways), it can work, and I'd very much like to see that. More people going express bus over car is less traffic, and that helps everyone.

  12. That's not a reason to keep rollsigns...

With the R179 and eventually the R211, I don't think the (MTA) would want to spend the money (little as it would be comparatively) to put in signs on the 68s for that reason alone. If they stay on 3 lines where the signs never have to be changed, they're not going to want to spend the money.

  13.

lol.... I guess the people doing the crimes are ghosts... You're good with the stats... How about you share who are the majority in terms of people doing the crime in this city and then get back to me with your rhetoric.  Last I checked Asians are minorities ("people of color" as you say) and their stop and frisk rates are right in line with the amount of crime that they commit, both of which are low...

It would also take away service for those who use the express bus along Ocean Avenue and along the Cortelyou Rd corridor... They would not be too pleased with that.

So your response to me pointing out that you're a racist a**hole is to ask me to point out statistics I already showed you. Well done. Cross-country, crime rates are higher in poorer urban areas, whether they are black or white. The NYPD completely ignored any logic and simply targeted blacks and latinos for being black and latino, not for suspicion of crime. The NYPD's tactics were a complete waste of money and ruined its relationship with much of the city. They could've used those officers to maybe...target actual suspected criminals.

And yes, the X29 being back would be nice, assuming the pampered shits in the towers by W8 St station would use it. Might need to have only the shiny new Prevosts running it to make sure they feel luxurious enough. The route used to get good patronage before, no reason it can't be returned to that level of usage.

  14.

Really?  I'm for pedestrian plazas, but address the traffic issues first.... It's crazy to put in pedestrian plazas and do nothing to address the traffic issues in those areas (which includes public transportation).  Most of the pedestrian plazas have been recklessly put into place and they've basically given the middle finger to those who oppose them.

As for the NYPD, they've been working with a reduced force for years now, so naturally they're not going to be able to enforce everything.  That last comment about harassment... Please... Those who commit the most crime are naturally going to be targeted... It's simple math... You have a reduced force, you have to be strategic in how you fight crime.  If you're willing to pay for more police then by all means go for it (assuming of course that you actually work and pay taxes at the moment) because hiring more cops means there's more money needed, which means higher taxes.  I find that the ones that complain the most about the police force usually aren't even working to have a clue about costs or taxes. They're either unemployed collecting welfare, "in school (for eternity getting their 'edumacation')" (my favorite one)  <_< or just at home doing nothing, letting mommy and daddy support them. Smh

You know how I know you're a racist jackass? Your insistence (despite statistics showing it to be complete bullshit) that Kelly's implementation of stop and frisk is good. They openly target people based on skin color and not criminal activity, and they stop almost exclusively people of color (90% of targets, and 88% of those innocent). And your last part that I put in bold is vomit-inducing. You're a pretty shitty human being. You will be *shocked* to know that a lot of educated, employed people (like myself) hate Kelly's policies because they waste police resources on racist harassment rather than actually fighting crime. But hey, it gives you a big ole boner knowing the NYPD is putting those damn minorities in their place, so I guess *that* spending of taxpayer money is A-OK.

To get on point, the NYPD does less than nothing to prevent traffic fatalities. They don't enforce the rules and they don't bring criminal charges against reckless drivers.

  15. I suppose that's a sarcastic response... That chick was a know-it-all arrogant something and was quite dismissive about what the public had to say.  For all of "safer streets" she supposedly helped to create, there were still plenty of fatalities and traffic has become worse since she's taken over.  Putting in pedestrian plazas in every nook and cranny of already congested traffic clogged areas is a very "bright" idea.  Luckily for the folks sitting in them there haven't been too many cars flying out of control save that incident on 6th Avenue near 50th street a few months back.

lol... Yeah that turn onto Church is a real PITA... The lights take forever over there and it really kills whatever time you may save from getting a Super Express from Downtown or Midtown.

Yeah Sadik-Khan was the Commissioner of the DOT... Real arrogant something... She's done her best to kill the traffic flow in this city.  Notice that you rarely get any green lights that are synchronized for any long stretch of time.

Yes, putting in pedestrian plazas in overcrowded areas IS a good idea.

As for the fatalities, you can look no further than the NYPD, which has refused to enforce road rules for years now. Speeding fatalities are a gigantic problem in the city and these clowns give less and less speeding tickets every year because they're spending all their time trolling bike riders (I'm referring to law-abiding ones, jerks who ride like jerks deserve tickets) and harassing random people on the street for being black (which I'm sure you love). There is never any criminality or charges pressed against reckless drivers, and zero effort by the NYPD to control the issue. Lastly, driving in Manhattan south of 60th is a f**king stupid thing to do, and I have less than zero sympathy for the troglodytes dumb enough to do so (unless they're driving a cab/bus/local delivery/public service vehicle).

  16. I don't find Church so much of a problem. I find Cortelyou Rd more of the problem and parts of Coney Island Avenue mainly due to the damn traffic lights not being synchronized.  Thank God that idiot Sadik Kahn is gone from the DOT...  <_<

Agreed. Safer streets, pedestrian plazas and less traffic fatalities are like, totally socialist communist fascism.

As for the part in parentheses, don't know what old trolley underpass you're talking about.....

Forgotten NY (great site, BTW) has a thing on it. Church is wider near Ocean Parkway because there used to be a crossunder for trolleys on Church to skip the traffic light with Ocean.

  17. Was on the S53 today. It's a crying shame what Daimler did. Even with the SI abuse, a bunch of those 3Gs still in mint condition. They make the XD40s seem like taped-together shitboxes. Would've been nice to have 690 more of them, rather than the incompetently designed Novas (nice wheelbase, a**holes, completely destroyed interior spacing) or the rattly pieces of shit NFI pumps out without a care in the world now that they dominate the market.

  18. Given that LCD and LED TVs are incredibly cheap nowadays, installing something along the lines Yankees... is suggesting probably wouldn't cost that much. Of course, this won't happen for the 179 order, but it should be something looked into for the 211 one.

Getting them to be bright, intense and contrasty enough might be an issue.

  19. Thought I'd map this out. B44 local moves to B44 SBS route, B49 runs on Bedford in both directions between Foster and Dean, and new B40 to provide service on NY/Marcy Aves and Nostrand.

Yeah, yeah, it's not well thought out, but you get the point, a B40. Probably a better idea to have it run down Nostrand southbound for the entire route and not half.
