Things got boring up there after the DL order got canceled, nothing much has happened ever since. Only real runners were 4429-4430 which dipped out a while back as well.
What order are you referring to? I'm blanking for some reason.

I like the look of those seats. Wonder if they're more/less comfy than the other ones.

lol cause my dad worked for a boss who had political connections and i forget which politician he told me said that
Lots of them. It's a good line to use when they get confronted with taking money from the and then at the same time demanding more service.

i meant to say how long have you been demanding the be restored, if you did the same thing before with the do it again with the
also i believe there is a demand which i agree cause their logic is there is no demand just take and we know the way the plays ball i was taught by my dad the has different books and the one we see is they are broke.
That was an entirely made up statement by sleazebag politicians. Sadly, it's a convenient one, so they keep repeating it.

I will say this much: whatever the cost of platform screen doors is, they absolutely need to install them (sound-proof ones) at Grand Central and Union Square on the Lex IRT.
Trains are all the same in terms of door layoutOh damn it, right R68's coming in. Seriously, though. Those two stations need some sort of solution to the noise problem. Yes, I know there are gap fillers at Union Square southbound platform, so any solution would need to work in tandem with those.0 -
I believe so, most likely yeah. It's not here I know that for sure.. It left here around November - December.
Dunno.
I could've sworn that's the bus whose engine went boom. Was it both engine and transmission?
Was on a B82 LTD today (hybrid). The front sign of course said LIMITED in the usual big-ass bright orange, but it didn't have the little magic "Limited" sign on the bottom. You can guess the shitshow that ensued. I give up on humanity.

So a while back, someone started a topic about converting the subway to catenary wire for power. I brought up the possibility of wireless power strips in the middle of the track in the thread and just wanted to post some updates on the issue here since it didn't warrant making a new thread or reviving the other one.

This is the latest development, with trials ongoing. As you can see, progress is being made constantly.
(About the 5 minute mark they focus on power transmission to moving vehicles)
This is from 2012, but is useful.

They're making great progress, too.
With Bombardier, Qualcomm and universities world wide working on safe wireless, short-range, high-frequency power transmission and making tremendous progress daily, an actual usable solution for railroads (subway or high speed) will probably be ready within a handful of years.
Thoughts?

I got on two consecutive trains where the T/O's where blowing the horn at seemingly random times throughout the whole route, tonight. This got annoying very fast. Is there something to this, or is it just happenstance?
Workers on the track? Not really new. Somebody has to inspect the tunnels.

whats with the rail at broad channel? I've seen most videos that people took after service restorations its like i hear a propulsion system over the trains departing but is gone when the train is.
Rails.
Good explanation:
The has similar equipment it used to grind the rails before service restoration on the Rockaways. You'll also hear the sound on the Culver viaduct.

So I went to Staten Island today to visit my nieces and I saw this sign while I was getting of the bus...
This was on the S53
School tripper?
EDIT: Waitaminute, that's the S53, that doesn't have school trippers, does it?

My bad on not taking down all the numbers, but there was a set of R160s slowly headed down south on the center track on the Sea Beach today around 2:45 when my train passed it. The front 5 were led by 8662 (which means that was 8662-8658). The interesting part was the trailing set of 5 I unfortunately didn't get the numbers for, but one of its cars was positively f**ked up with a flat spot. I turned around because this didn't sound like a normal (or even bad) flat spot, this sounded like a god damn building was dropping on the rails every turn. Never seen/heard that before. Any of the resident transit employees on here know what the trailing 5-car set was and how that one wheel got so badly damaged?

there is already an ltd version of the s53... what do you think the s93 is?
He might be referring to the once-proposed S83.

Was on a B44 last evening (5360). Holy shit they gotta get on it with repaving Nostrand. The bus itself didn't rattle and felt rock-solid, but even that brand new suspension shook like crazy. At one point (forgot what street) it felt like sitting on a jackhammer. Those buses are going to get run into the ground (like all SI routes that go through Narrows Road) rather quickly.

R160s on the here we come
In all seriousness, when are the dates for this?
R160s already appear on the on rare occasions when Jamaica has some extras to run.

So from what I hear this summer the will be split into two sections, between Forest Hills and Whitehall St, and Jay Street to 95 Street. There is a rumor going on that the southern portion MIGHT use CI equipment, though remember that it is a rumor.
Would make sense to use CI equipment for a 95-Jay shuttle.

Had some business to take care of that involved getting 388 on the (engine sounded a bit rusty on idle but otherwise fine) and 5352 on the LTD (it's a bus, it was like a bus).

So I just noticed they finally added F to Coney Island transfer under Kings Highway in the FIND program for Kings Highway-bound trains. Nice to see that added after four years of R160s on the . Still have train transfers only listed at Bergen, Carroll, and Smith-9 Sts, though.

Well due to a bad accident 2489 is no longer on the property at U.P. might get scrapped, spoke to somebody myself. Not involving a car or anything though... Bushasn't been in service for 13 days.
Scrapped?! Holy crap. Dropped off a service lift or something?

I seriously cant take it anymore...Yukon is the worst in the system!
That bus rattled at every milimeter imperfection on the road. It was amazing. The contrast between 4254 and some of the other hybrids on the 79 is amazing.

Was on 4254 today. That bus is destroyed. The suspension is shot and the bus rattles like hell. The farebox was loose and wobbling loudly.

The B101 was a proposed route in the '70's by Pioneer. It was supposed to run between Midwood and Georgetown.
That was a long time ago. Probably not needed if it never happened. I'll tell you what, though, a Kings Highway Station to Bay Ridge route would really do some good, especially as a connector to Ave P on the [the only station on the line with no bus service] and Kings Hwy on the and .

Wrong pic ->
That's 6443 has it not 6448... Looks like a small mistake
Interesting. Any idea who the supplier is?

Makes sense, last revenue trip it had was October 24th...something's up, GPS has been off since.
Isn't that the bus whose engine ate itself? I remember someone mentioned a couple of months ago a 3G with a blown engine that was off in a faraway land for repairs and such.

Much like our 1998-1999s.
4756 - The whole front of the bus shakes like no tomorrow.
That NFI Xcelsior build quality.
