  1. Hey hey now, some of the stuff being done in BVE is pretty fun. I've brought my laptop to work and we play BVE between trips in the crew room - challenging each other to see who can get the top speed through a tunnel without hitting a red signal. Of course, everyone points out every little mistake in each layout (hey, there's not a timer there!!!). On the other hand, I really wonder how some of those R160 announcements get recorded, especially for the routes they don't normally run on, and then I decided I'm better off just NOT asking...... I also worry that many of the railfans who play these games think that it's a substitute for schoolcar and get the impression that they can operate REAL trains just because they can do it in the game. There's no brake pipe rupture feature in BVE though....that's what got Darius McCollum caught the first time! Anyway, I hope development on those projects continues. I agree with pretty much everything else you stated though. And I specifically asked that everyone ACT RESPECTFUL if you were gonna come out. If you can't handle something out of the ordinary, then you don't deserve to be riding. That's why from this point forward I WILL keep my mouth shut out about anything new or interesting coming up or seen out in the field. After that fiasco with the to Flatbush my rookie year (dear god, how many of you skipped school just so you could ride an R62 down Nostrand Ave?), I knew this was gonna happen. And I'll have no part in it ever happening again. BTW - I've seen the photos and some of the posters here I recognize. So don't give me a bullshit story that YOU were behaving and it was just everyone else acting up.
  2. Excellent points, SubwayGuy. I'm starting to hear the reports from yesterday, and simply put, SOME of you acted like animals out there yesterday!!! Over a damn train! I ONCE worked the holiday special R9, and the sheer amount of obnoxiousness and immaturity I saw made me decide to never volunteer again. And I can tell you that if that was MY R32 yesterday, I would have kicked you off the moment I sensed any trouble. Some of you have no respect whatsoever for this subway system which you act like you love so much.
  3. That's because every single person who read that confirmed proof dropped everything and ran into the subway ASAP!
  4. Well you still uploaded that part of the video to youtube......
  5. Do you really need to keep encouraging these idiots to do this shit????
  6. It's out there. Saw it going N/B at Queens Plaza at 2:40pm
  7. The last Saturday put-in from Jamaica for the is the 0808. If it's coming out, it'll be out by then. I just hope one of you with a high quality camera gets some good rail fan window video. I recorded the whole line back in 2007, but it was on my crappy cell phone. Don't fight, let the one with the best camera have the window. And don't annoy the T/O - chances are he hasn't operated an R32 in years and has enough stress to deal with. R160's on the and and R142 on the have also happened recently. They're rare, but they happen. Now a R160 on the Franklin ..... THAT would get my attention.
  8. R32's used to run on the EVERY DAY (in fact, they were based out of Coney Island Yard, so were almost always the sets that went into service at 59 St after running up the Sea Beach middle, so they were always easy to catch). We also had R32's on the and -- there was a time when they were actually the MAJORITY of the active fleet! I wonder how many of you were alive yet when the Redbirds were still running in regular service? This is why I haven't ridden the R188 yet. I know it isn't going anywhere so there's no point in going out of my way to hunt it down when I KNOW it'll be all over the line for at least the next 20 years. As for those of you camping out at Continenal, maybe if you ask nicely one of the dispatchers will check the sheets and tell you exactly what interval the next R32 is making (remember, those car numbers are in the 3000s) so you don't have to waste your whole day.
  9. You guys are hilarious. We have a bulletin for doing vibration testing on the R32 for Apr 12-13, for which TWO sets will be used. All of a sudden, we have speculation about the R32's running during the week, on both the and , and the using R46s. What else can we throw in the rumor mill?
  10. It's true. I would have posted it on here myself a couple days ago, but I got a backlash the last time......
  11. Was this GO announced in advance? You can't possibly think that the racetrack had NO IDEA that this GO was going to happen before the day of the event. What justification would they have for suing the MTA? The NYCTA is not a personal shuttle for racetrack customers, nor do they have a special contract with them guaranteeing normal service at all times.
  12. You know what the BIGGEST problem with your crackpot proposals is? Customers, PARTICULARLY out of towners, do not pay attention to service changes. The C/R and D/A can make all the announcements they want and nobody is going to pay any attention to them up until the moment that their usual train isn't stopping at their usual stop. Running a to Broadway Junction is going to run completely empty - the ONLY people who will ride that train over the bridge are foamers and customers who thought it was a . Meanwhile all customers trying to get to the racetrack are going to be taking their usual train, not suspecting a thing is wrong until they're well past W4.
  13. Heard today at work that effective April 31, the and are going to swap equipment - R160's on the and R68A's on the . This is due to the rollsign issues with the changing terminals 3 times a day. R160's will also be used on the on weekends as needed.
  14. Probably meant 149 St-Grand CONCOURSE.
  15. Also had the running local 145-59 to cover for the The smoke condition was at 8 St. Also in today's news: mta.info's delay listings have mistakes in them more often than not. Despite outcry from local transit forums, it is not the end of the world and each one does not need to be analysed to death.
  16. It's alright, next time I see a rare equipment swap I'm just gonna keep my mouth shut about it.
  17. Yep, and get ready for the weekend to get hit even harder. Many Myrtle Ave riders who would normally just take the into Manhattan (to avoid a 3 or 4 seat ride) are gonna do the to the so Delancey-Essex lower level is gonna be CRAAAAAAZY.
  18. There's an R32 on the today. Happy hunting.
  19. Yeah, the put-ins out of Pitkin this morning weren't getting to Manhattan for some reason, so the 's on the Manhattan side were going local back uptown until those first S/B 's could get to Jay and back. I swear, some customers act like riding their express train for local stops is the end of the world for them.
  20. There was. The SUV took it out. I couldn't believe my eyes when I passed that scene earlier this morning....
  21. They wouldn't be removed. They can easily be turned off by dropping the circuit breaker in each car.
  22. Broad St is considered railroad north, Jamaica Center is south. It got flipped when the started running from Continental (north) to Metropolitan (south) and the Broad to Court connection stopped being used for revenue service. Go read the random thoughts thread and you'll see that trains ended up in the least likely of places today!
