Speaking of X trips, I really do think they should try their hand with a 119X. That trip down to Bayonne can be brutal even outside the rush hour, I can only imagine how much worse it gets during rush hours. Plus I do think there's ridership to support such a service

Way I would do it is basically all stops south of Sip Avenue along JFK Boulevard, then express to/from Manhattan (no JSQ). That could mean take Tonnelle Avenue to NJ-495 between New York and Jersey City.

Given that they already have short-turns to/from JFK Boulevard & 61st Street that shouldn't be too much of an issue (especially since inbound buses are pick-up only). Perhaps it can start off as a weekday rush hour type of thing, and then expand as necessary.

Thats basicly why i said in the post above about sending the 123 to jsq if the JSQ term requires two njt services to PABT and have the 119 skip it cause of what you mention....Only reason the 123 got extended  to the hospital was because they took the 119 off of palisades..Back in the day when it ran as the 99S under drogin It had a couple of peak express buses cause of the ridership....By the time some buses reached duncan ave not even jsq its packed and none of the 99S stopped at the terminal either....Those few peak ran all the way down JFK to 32st skipping everything on palisades to the tunnel and  vice versa

Wouldn’t be worth it. 123s are empty as it is once they hit Jersey City. The heavy ridership is all in Union City.

For what? The #119 would go back inside JSQ.....

On weekends that wouldnt be that bad...Christ hospital not that far from JSQ and the 125 runs terrible and that might boost ridership a little on the 123 in my opinion...To be honest the 119 should only stop inside the terminal is overnight with they stop the 10....

They aren't, but Fairview's routes are the most prominent with that issue. Oradell's routes are definitely similar to Fairview's in terms of design, but the type of usage between both garages is different, same for Market Street.

The 550 Artic bus order is supposedly going to allow the 150s to become fully artic. When that, or Ridgefield Park happens remains to be seen.

Oh ok....I didnt know Transit was expecting more artics...Makes sense fair enought

It makes a lot of sense...Wayne is getting more buses to retire the 9000s and 7100s, this would just speed up the process. Also lessens the maintenance load at Fairview.

It's not so much the fact that they don't need the MCIs, but if they had routes that would allow them to use the MCIs more properly, then yeah, they could use them.

Having been on their routes with these new 45fters, from a logistics standpoint, it's terrible. There's way too much stop-and-go happening on those fairview routes(especially the locals) for those MCIs to be used reliably. The dwell times go up, and people bring their luggage and other things onto the bus, delaying everyone. It makes more sense for them to be fully 40fter/artic than for them to have 45ft MCIs in which their practicality is questioned. It was a little better when they had the D4000s.

On the R routes, it's not that bad, the locals, it's terrible, and the 158 is just as bad.

I get what your saying 100 percent and i agree...Fairview back in the day was just artics and 40fts suburbans with a few MCIs...Fairview lines isnt the only lines used by Mcis that suffers from the problems u mentioned above tho...NJT maybe should have ordered more artics rather Mcis.....So how do you fix this problem...Me personally trade some Mcis to meadowlands for some of their artics and 40fts...Otherwise they gonna stay at fairview cause what other garage can take them

  5. 35 minutes ago, Kingsbridgeviewer382 said:

That doesn’t answer my inquiry as to if the 45-foot MCIs are a benefit or deterrent to normal service on the Fairview lines. You only touched how it’s no problem in terms of managing equipment at the garage. I’m more curious as to how service has gotten better or worse with the 45-footers over the 40-footers, with everyone arguing for both points.

The main arguement for what i saw is that Fairview dont need MCI...all i did was beg the differ..Its gotta be some what a benifit if they choose to send them there.....I cant speak for increase in ridership for the lines..I also touched on the fact that they also got 45 fts buses to train drivers who where used to 40 fts and nabis and the fact that fairview eventually gonna be a merge garage which also gonna require them...Thats the reason those 40  fts they do got is being moved...Me personally all fairview lines can have them....i also heard that market st drivers are starting to train for 45 fts from wayne

  6. 10 minutes ago, Kingsbridgeviewer382 said:

I think it can be argued that having the 45 Foot units there is an issue. It didn’t seem that problematic when the 40 foot coaches were there, but with the 9000s and 22000s there the problems with them may of become a bit more noticeable. This is just a hypothesis as I don’t have anything that can back it up or dispute it. Hopefully those in the know do have better arguments.

Thats no issue...Fairview has enough space...They started giving fairview 45 fts early last year to train the drivers on how to deal with 45 footers...Fairview also gonna be a merge garage in the near future with market st and oradell...Thats also a reason why Market street started to learn Fairviews routes..

  7. Fairview always had mci's at they garage....It wasnt a problem then why it is now ....They still operate routes that still do require them...Same thing with Market st should have kept theres in my opinion ......Those nabis isnt as reliable as most here think...Trust me i know. Pleanty of breakdown over the years to and from NY and passergers and drivers started to complian about that..Drivers mainly had to keep getting up to close the back door....Basicly turning Nabis into MCI cause now everybody has to exit the front ....Mostly all MCI lines gonna have some sort of dwell time due to the one door in certain areas of the route...190 comes straight to mind...Yes Fairview has routes with tight streets etc...But they mainly have mci there due to reliablity issues due to NY being all they routes terminal...People like to get what they pay for...And people from those areas love they MCI's

Was it in service or in training mode

Why would it be in Training mode 🤔🤔...With passengers entering and exiting the train 🤦🏿‍♀️🤦🏿‍♀️...I did say on the 2 and that wasn't the only set I saw like that....

They don't merge the R142 units on the (2) (5) like that. 6301-6345, 6351-6715 are mated with each other because they are out of 239 St Yard while 6716-7130 are at East 180 Street Yard.

    I beg the differ..Theres a few times i saw  (2)(5) units mated together...Last month i saw 6411-6415 with 6860-6856 on the (2)

    Effective July 1st 2024

    - One way ticket will expire in 30 days instead of forever

    - Flexipass will be discontinued

    - Annual 3% fare increase starting in 2025

Why are fares still not rounded to the near .25 is still beyond me. Requiring people to keep carrying dimes and nickel is ridiculous

They should be lowering the fares with the way they operate some of there lines...lol

I'm still debating wether I should go to NJ transit lol. I work in Staten island. I don't know or I don't know how transit in NJ is in South NJ like in Trenton/ Lawrenceville.

The 13, 34, come to mind. I, for one, would like the 1 to have less service to River Terminal. Not every trip that goes to/from Jersey City NEEDS to stop there, especially on weekends.

Every trip doesnt stop there....And There are some key businesses back there that will make it hard to catch the buses in either direction and on wkends when the bridge is out they uses river term for service... So me personally i would continue to have the 1 serve that area the way it does...Now would i would do is eilimanate the 1 to river term from nwk and send it to jc...

If nothing else, Newark/Jersey City riders can use it as a supplement to the 1 between Newark & Jersey City.

That being said, service at least to Newark is definitely used and needed.

That was really never used as a 1 supplement more of a supplement to the 67  ....Once it left JSQ it hit 440/1&9 straight into nwk...Most if not all ppl at the JS wanting Nwk will op for path downstairs...That service had good ridership mainly in the warm months with only 2 a day leaving jsq

So it finally happened, an artic on the 24. 20810 was on the mentioned route earlier today. Just imagine if ONE Bus had some artics on that route when it still operated it lol

Since transit took over these private  lines  they now seeing buses that never ran along the route which if you told me 10 years ago i wouldnt believed you....Other day took 5296 on the 8 bergen ave....lol

Well, NJT seems to only add a few 80S runs to and from Society Hill. Remember, that route during peak period under A&C before COVID hit had at least 10 buses running that line during the weekday. Now it seems reduced I'm guessing to 4 to 5 buses. Bergen Ave is the same as well. Runs are reduced, therefore you might see six to eight buses during peak period. Weekends are a total different story. Route 9 Newport Mall only has one bus instead of two during the weekend is a prime example. I wish NJT would extend service hours on the 80 route until 1:45a in that area of Westside because the commuters coming from New York off Path. Now with the routes formerly operated by O.N.E we can see a vast reduction in routes 24 and certainly the  31 because I'm sure it's because of not having the man power. I could remember the 31 alone had close to 20 buses operating on S. Orange Ave. Now it's 10 or less

By the way, NJT may need to collaborate with the city of Jersey City to fix it's street patterns on certain intersections that are either narrow or tight turns if they want artics on that line. The 163 route which makes that 45 or so degree turn I want to say Paterson-Plank road, the town made sure to move the white line further back to allow 45 cruisers of making a clear turn. Before that new turn, it went up to the residential street to get to Boulevard. I guess there were many complaints made by the residents to have those cruisers stay on the main road than to enter there one-way street

Yes i agree with most....The 9 should operate much better on weekdays and wkends...How they expect ridership to grow back on that line with headways like that....8 should run a little  later than 7 and at least every 15 mins....i say midnight should be the last bus from jsq....80s i dont think gonna boost anything cause you still have the 80 on westside.....But yes before covid buses was clock work now u can walk faster than depending on where u going

I believe the older Nabis they'll scrap will be kinda like a tradeoff for the new XD60s. For example, Meadowlands current Nabi suburbans may all be replaced by XD60s. Most of not some of Hilton's older Nabi transit Model will be replaced by the XD60s so to have routes 1, 13, 25,39 and 70 to have a full dosage of XD60s during the entire day. Don't rule out seeing some XD60s on other routes that are normally 40 foot bus routes. If NJT could change the gate assignment at the PABT for the 107, then you could possibly have some artics run that route during the day as well. Fairview could have most of their Nabi suburbans replaced by new XD60s as well. I would like to see route 80 have artics on that line all day because the Westside Avenue and Society Hill area is just booming with higher ridership. Notice I didn't mention route 87, which they could use the artics too. Most of us know that route has many tight turns on side streets. Jersey City may have to adjust certain areas of the street scape for the 87 route to accompany artics. Of course Greenville is a small garage, I've been saying for years that NJ Transit should have invested in buying property or acres of land in Jersey City, in particular off route 440 to build a bigger garage. Jersey City's population is rising and will soon if not by next year overtake Newark into becoming the largest city population wise in New Jersey. With all these luxury condos and apartments being built and some New Yorkers moving into Jersey City, NJT needs to be ready of handling such large crowds on their bus lines and light rail

I agree with most of this...If the 1 use artics with its tight turns i think the 87  can manage....Only problem is that greenville cant house artics cause of they garage being to small....Yes Jersey City is rising in terms of ridership base...And its been quite amazing that transit somehow got the man power to take over JC Former  Routes....

Meadow and Market are both 10 miles away from Hackensack, and I guess that could work. Although Meadowlands would probably run the first Hackensack bound trip of the day as Journal Sq is much closer to Meadow than Market Street

Yeah thats exactly how they should do it...I only mention market st cause the end terminal is not far from the garage...It could be similar to how now orange and big tree helps the # 1

Was going to say since the lack of fareboxes. Other than that the next closest is Union City (when that's rebuilt) and probably Ridgefield Park

Well until this new Garage opens....Me personally  83 can be a split Between Meadow/Market St...Or maybe a few Trips...I also feel like the 171 should go to Wayne also...
