  1. There is literally no reason to assign posters just because someone posts something false.

    1. Buses move in and out of retirement all the time

    2. Mistakes happen

    3. When you keep being told something isn't confirmed retired because of certain things it should be common sense it isn't

And quite frankly imo there's no difference between a bus at Zerega or Eastchester besides the fact that one houses pending scrap and the other holds new or oos/training buses.

That user was not referring to where the bus currently operates. They're arguing that 4630 was the highest numbered 2009 model of the NG hybrids.

As for the debate at hand, I remember TTMG and other older rosters categorizing the 4600s at JFK as 2010 models in their old roster pages for years. Most sites, including mine, followed that piece of info for years. Now TransitMan is stating that only 4656-onwards are the only 2010 models. It would be nice to see a definitive clarfication, though that in itself is a rather small and somewhat insignificant thing to argue about.

For clarification purposes, 4631-4655 are 2010 units built in 2009.

I'm not sure why people are acting as if the MTA has the money to rebuild and fix off their property? They are a government agency, they will need money to fix the vast system we have in this city. Our depots are very old, they were old trolley barns for a lot of them, they need to be rebuilt or renovated, but at the same time look how long its taking for Jamaica bus depot to even get rebuilt. This was planned years ago, but construction won't even start until when? Next year?

The MTA needs money, but the MTA needs to also be freed from being a pawn for politicians as well.

It's not a point about $$, it's a point about mismanagement. If yk you need to fix something, it needs to be planned in advance.

See that bold part? That's exactly why they are in the predicament they are in. Ever since the Cuomo era, they been playing politics to get what they want. They acting more like a party that wants look good in order to run for reelection instead of an actual transit agency, and especially as of lately it's getting obvious to the public eye.

It might not be their fault, but they far from anything not corrupt.

  4. All these depots falling apart and they more worried about things like congestion pricing and catching people who don't pay.

Not to say don't, but when your main focus is money and politics it adds up for sure. Don't even get me started on how they was about to try and charge marathon runners for going on the verazanno bridge and it was so bad even hochul had to overturn it. Ridiculous....

Did anyone go to the Main Street Flushing Queens bus redesign feedback event?  After work I get off at my station Flushing Main street.  I am frustrated because I didn't find any tables at all nor people inside the 7 line between Dune Reade exit stairs.  So I said maybe it is near Macy entrance.  Then I went to the Macy entrance and went downstairs and I did not find any tables.  I ask the token both rep and she replied the famous MTA line " I don't know".  She said there are poster on the wall and I said yes but I don't see any tables. Then the rep didn't understand what I was saying.  She then told me to call 5-1-1.  Is she serious?? Call 511 to ask where the event is held and where it is located??? GIVE ME BREAK!  I so angry and frustrated.  Then I went back up and decided to cross the street and I saw 2 people has signs and under their arms.  After I got downstairs I ask the 2 college kids do you know where the Queens bus redesign table is?  To my surprise they said to me "There are no tables and it is ONLY us 2 people doing the Queens bus redesign".  WHAT?? Is that MTA serious that they ONLY have 2 people an they are college kids and there are no adults or a table that says Queens Bus Redesign feed back?  Anyway I gave me feedback on the Q61 and the Q15 route where I mostly take that route. I ask the 2 college kids and they didn't even wear a shirt saying MTA.  OMG this is a joke.  They just have a clipboard and a plain pin saying "Ask me a question?"  They didn't even wear a MTA vest.  The MTA expect a Queens Bus Redesign Feedback?? How the heck will people know when there are no tables inside the subway station and no poster inside the station?  The 2 college kids said "Yes we been  going up and downstairs" since 4PM to get feedback.  How can the MTA run their "business" like this and all they want is to raise the price of the subway and bus fare.  What Feedback is this?  It is nonsense where people don't know where it is and there are no tables to be found.  No wonder I didn't see people giving feedback because there is no table to be seen.  Anyway my feedback is the Q61 I can't have 30 minutes wait in the wee early morning and it has to be 10 minutes.  Peak AM is 10 minutes.  Mid-day is 15 minutes.  Peak PM is 10 minutes and Evening 10 minutes and late evening is 20 minutes.  For the Q15 I wanted the same as the Q61 bus.  For Saturday and Service it is even 10 minutes.  I expected MTA to be unorganized but I didn't expect this would happen for a Queens Bus Redesign feed back UGH!  I asked if Richard Davy was there (President of MTA) and those college kids said "No he is not scheduled to be here".  I said I have to speak to him about the feedback and other things like customer service.  Sorry about the rant but I am just telling my experience after I went to what the MTA calls "Queens Bus Redesign Feedback".  I hope if any of you do go to the Queens Bus Redesign Feedback you don't experience anything what I experience today.

The schedule for "In person bus redesign feedback" is here: https://new.mta.info/document/134101

The redesign team will be out in communities across Queens on the dates listed below from 4-7 p.m. In the case of extreme weather, events may be rescheduled so customers are advised to check the project webpage before heading out to an event.

Monday, April 8 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in Astoria at Ditmars Blvd and 23 Av

Tuesday, April 16 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Rochdale Village Senior Center

Thursday, April 18 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in Jamaica at the Allen Community Senior Citizens Center

Tuesday, April 23 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. in Maspeth at Grand Av and 69 St

Friday, May 3 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. at the Rego Park Mall outside Marshall’s

Monday, May 13 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Bay Terrace Shopping Center (Bell Blvd and 24 Av)

Good luck to every one if you are going to one of the events.

Report that to the MTA with an email or tag on Twitter. The more people do this the sooner the MTA realizes they can't be playing slick to try and get what they want.

If it's not mentioned on the Queens Bus redesign group I'm part of, I'll definitely give it a mention.

They legally cannot eliminate partial routes in Brooklyn before a public hearing in Brooklyn. How are Brooklyn residents supposed to know that changes under the Queens study will eliminate parts of routes in Brooklyn such as B46 riders in East Flatbush? They wouldn’t even know to check the Queens study.

    Reread my previous posts.

The only changes regarding Brooklyn routes is the service in Queens and changes that involves Queens routes, even if they touch Brooklyn. This includes:

Splitting the B24 to the B53/Q68

Q24 from Bushwick to Broadway Junction being replaced by the B53

B32 discontinued and replaced by the B53/B62

    B57 extension to Jackson Heights

    B62 extension to Astoria

Unless the MTA makes an announcement or the final plan is updated, these changes will be in conjunction with the Queens redesign.

They can take studies (of the B53/57/62) from the Brooklyn redesign and implement it by the time the Queens redesign is ready. Technically, the Brooklyn final plan needs to be ready before any implementations, but that doesn't mean they won't be implemented after the Queens redesign.

Hearings still need to be held regardless of the borough, so there's plenty of time to announce changes if there needs to be any.

If Brooklyn opposes the B53 (unless the Q24 and B46 are untouched in the meantime) it cannot be implemented with the Queens changes because Brooklyn would not have adequate opportunity to speak and there would not have been a public hearing and I doubt they would want to run all three routes on Broadway.

Separate note, people forget how the M100 was changed despite not being a Bronx route. It'll be the same concept for the above routes.

So, this isn't completely official yet, as it's pending FTA approval, but Green Mountain Transit up in Vermont is planning to transfer 7 2013 MCI D4500CTs over to NYCT. These buses have not been used in service for some time. I can definitely see Castleton getting all 7 of these.

There is a pretty good chance that these will also be in the new scheme, just completely wrapped. Whether or not the signs or the alcoas will remain will be up for debate(they'll likely get swapped out).

    -edit-
lol to whomever that reported this on Discord.

Slightly off topic, is there any update to the AEB coach units? Always thought these would (indirectly) replace the 08 CTs (later replaced by the 2026 prevost)

A little notice when it comes to upcoming buses being retired, not to be negative or as said above disrupting info, when checking units, please do not use the online tracker to determine final word that it's retired. Some of the units are actually out in passenger service, however, after maintenence  at the depot, the tracker on some are disabled and cannot be looked at. Units are 4011 and 4072 that's in-service but won't pop up online.

    * 4074 (in passenger service but may also not be online)

    Fixed

Interesting. I wonder what was the point of slapping CP stickers on these buses if they were going to go back within a few days.

Literally what we been saying all along, loans.

It's the same situation as TU. Buses will be sent there for X days, then go back to their home depot, sometimes with a decal slapped onto it.

Seems like CP will have around 4-5 units on rotation with LGA

SB off topic I told a member on here about 179 coming to the (H) and now it’s a full time thing..

    It's not even that serious...

  13. If possible I would like to see the BRT connect to a Staten Island bus local redesign.

Combining the proposed 2012 plans and the (more recent) S40/40A plans, I could see something like this take place:

S40 cut back from Amazon, a new S5x route is created between Amazon and Arlington via teleport

A branch of the S44 (maybe S94) via the busway/S59 extension to St George

    S53 westward extension to Arlington

S54 Eastward extension to St George

A revamped S66 via the busway instead of Victory Blvd

Slight modifications of the S90 to operate between Amazon and St George via the busway, possibly operating a similar pattern to the S93 (running during peak hours and during scheduled shifts)

Where did you see me mention anything about light rail in my paragraph?

Point still stands, even with HRV use, it's still impossible to make yard space

I mentioned LRV bc the study never mentioned anything about HRV usage to my knowledge; HRV between Port Richmond and St George is nearly impossible or will be extremely expensive.

  16. 5 hours ago, Lawrence St said:

    Lack of yard space? What???

Clifton is right down the road and you have all of the unused platform space at St. George for more storage.

Idk how you manage to propose some of the most absurd things, but I doubt we can squeeze LRT onto a small mainline rail yard (by FRA regulations).

Another thing I also failed to see you note is how would there be access to Clifton if the only way to access it is by street operations (where traffic is beyond flooded with buses) or sharing track with SIR (which you gotta figure out how to connect HRV with LRV safely, not even mentioning the power source we plan on using, as third rail is almost impossible for LRV use).

  17. Jeez I knew there was a reason I stay away from the subway side of the forums. Now I feel obligated to point out the difference between the pilot and prototype trains.

Pilot: testing out a brand new model to make sure there are not any faults in the production models that would delay delivery of the train

Prototype: testing BRAND NEW FEATURES that were never introduced before, specifically to the public, getting feedback, and incorporating it to a future design.

Common sense would also indicate that there is no need for a 30 day test for a train that only consists of one or two full length train.
