  1. Thanks for the stats. Earlier I read some of the capital documents and it said that 86 St's station + finishes was about 3-6 months behind schedule though, so...
  2. ..."Due to unforeseen circumstances, it is very likely that Phase 1 of the Second Avenue Subway will open a few months later than expected." ..."Due to fire alarm issues, the projected opening date of Phase 1 of the Second Avenue Subway has been postponed by two months." etc.
  3. Lol, sometimes we do. But although we have train operators and people who work in the train yards here, we don't necessarily have information about things that still haven't been delivered. Afaik, the R179s will be very similar to the R160s. That includes the FIND System (btw, The Washington DC Metrorail seems to like using NYC's FIND system )
  4. Excellent news, though I'm hoping they don't run into stupid problems like the Flushing Line Extension did
  5. Since the test train has not yet arrived, none of us can say for sure.
  6. As of current plans, the will only share tracks with the . Therefore, it is not difficult to time trains to have no conflicts, since you can set a train midway between trains. The merge conflict is only in one direction as well (doing downtown from 72nd, there is no conflict), which makes it all the more simple.
  7. ...who knows how long it will take for them to start delivering. Honestly, I really don't care as long as the R32s and R42s can hold up until the delivery. Especially the 42s, which are basically wrecks at this point imo.
  8. I don't want to bash, but is there a supervisor? Is there someone making sure that contractors get work done on time with the expected or better quality?
  9. The reason why other lines such as the , , and being affected is because none of the trains in Jamaica Yard and none of the trains stored on the express tracks east of Forest Hills can be used - effectively, the , , , and lines cannot access part of or most of their fleet. Jamaica Yard is one of the biggest and most important yards in the subway system.
  10. At 67 Av (IND QBL) during the middle of the night, a structural fault causes the mezzanine and street to collapse into the tunnel, blocking access to Jamaica Yard. Reroute, and figure out how to deal with the lack of trains. Trucking them elsewhere is not acceptable for this scenario. P.S. Q60 SBS, if for whatever reason this comes to mind, is not allowed
  11. Phase 1 should be a success as long as the MTA gets it done on time, on budget, and the escalators are still (hopefully) working at the end of the first week.
  12. to continental, via 53, to 57. no shuttles - just shut down Lex/63 or send some trains there and have them use the switch to access the usable platforms
  13. At Queens Plaza, the G is on the outer platforms and would have to wrong rail or do some kind of unholy movement in order to switch to the other track. The M is in the middle tracks in one of the directions.
  14. ...If it's just river crossings, I've already made a map. If it's EVERY. TUNNEL. IN. NEW. YORK. CITY... then you're basically saying that there will be service on IND Rockaway, IRT Flushing, IRT Jerome, IRT WPR, IRT Pelham, IRT Dyre, maybe IRT Bway-7 in Riverdale, maybe IRT New Lots, BMT Brighton, Sea Beach, New Utrecht, Culver, and Franklin... ...and nothing else.
  15. True, although I doubt the MTA would be willing to send it to 149th instead of 125 (though it would be significantly better)
  16. Honestly, I say terminate it at 116 st. Few people will want to transfer at 125th anyways if they're not Metro North customers or looking for the west side. All those who want the East side will stay on the east side.
  17. Normally I would scream WESTCHESTER YARD!!! and start ranting, but that would be completely off topic.
  18. Or acknowledged that 52nd St was Lincoln Av and 69 St was Fisk Ave... lol not happening.
  19. So I was looking at Wikipedia at updates. So Kingsbridge Rd is accessible, eh? And then I saw Chambers St on the to-do list. I had a brief moment of shock, and then I mentally screamed: "PLEASE RENOVATE IT!!!"

  20. Regarding "OH IT'S CHEAPER" --Using A TBM to tunnel the 125 St station is probably one of the most expensive parts of Phase 2. If it only went to 116 St, it wouldn't be nearly as problematic Regarding an El --Not happening. Regarding racism --Now THIS is an actual thing that might force the city to get it moving. It's very true that part of the issue is one of race, as stated earlier. Now, the problem is whether or not the money will appear. THAT depends on Albany
  21. ...I mean, unless the train car is brand new and runs 100% outside, it's GOING to be covered in soot...
  22. I wonder if the station will have Fulton Center problems... Anyways, it's going to be somewhat shocking to return home and see all the Westchester R142A converts...
  23. Please no LCD. I don't think it would look particularly great. Multicolored LEDs is possible but may not be worth the investment. You would be stuck with Red, Green, Blue, and Orange, most likely.
  24. via West End, shuttle bus to Brighton Beach, to Kings Hwy to Av X
