True, you got 5 in the Bronx (BxM1, 2, 4, 7 & 11), and three each in Brooklyn (BM2, 3, X28) and Queens (QM6, 17, X68). My question to you is what kind of buses they’re using?

Express coaches are still used, except for the QM17. The 17 is using hybrids for some reason.

On a side note, the Q60 has one artic out on the line (#6240 if anyone’s interested)

Anybody else notice how the manhattan division that’s helping out in The Bronx are not doing full runs they’re short turning, same with some Bronx depots helping other Bronx depots.

Bx1/bx2 ( covered by MJQ)- Mott haven - Fordham rd

Bx9 (covered by WF & MCH)-
west farms square  - broadway 225st

bx15 covered by WF & MCH) - 149 st to Fordham plaza

bx12 select Bus service (covered by MJQ)  - Pelham bay - University Ave

bx41 local & select bus service - (covered by local WF, sbs MCH) 149st - Fordham rd

Actually, some of those Manhattan trips actually DO make the whole trip. Today's Bx12 SBS MJQ runs (#6107 and #6227) went from Bay Plaza to Inwood, and started again at Fordham Plaza heading Bay Plaza. But yeah, most of them are short turns.

If I could fix your list up a bit, the typical weekday trips actually look like this:

Bx1/Bx2 (MJQ) - Mott Haven to and from Fordham Rd

Bx3 (MHV, MJQ) - Washington Heights to and from Kingsbridge Road (a few trips go up to Riverdale)

    Bx4 / A (WF) - Usually interlines with the Bx40 / 42 trips

Bx9 (WF, MCH, OH) - West Farms / Riverdale to and from 225th Street & Bway (The trips will often run from either end of the route to 225th and then go back, or will just make the entire trip)

Bx12 / SBS  (MJQ, MHV) - Usually make the whole trip but some trips end at University Avenue or Fordham Plaza

Bx15 (WF, OH) - 149 st to and from Fordham plaza

Bx28 (MHV, MCH) - Co-Op City to and from Norwood, with some trips going all the way to Fordham Center (the first day these loans started, an XD60 from OH ran on the line)

Bx41 / SBS (WF, MCH) - 149st to and from Fordham Plaza

    Bx40 / 42 (WF) - Whole route

The weekend loans are a lot more interesting. One weekend, Staten Island did some trips. Another weekend it was Manhattan, and last weekend it was West Farms (an XN40 ran on the Bx7 and on the Bx28).

So this morning...1026 was on the Bx9, and 4669 was on the Bx28.

Now we got 6202 and 6220 on the Bx41 LOCAL.

At this rate, we might see 2204 on the Q46. lmao

Looks like the Bronx is getting a ton of loans.

LFSA 5524 is on the Bx1, 5596 was on the Bx12 SBS, 6057 is on the Bx28, and a few more

I would say I agree with the statement.....

But, Flatbush is very slowly converting their XD40s into the local scheme. And if KB is fighting to keep their buses, and more novas are supposedly due to go to the bronx (including kingsbridge, as there are 8 XD60s that need to be moved from there and that's just enough FB Novas able to move for a fair trade if enough swaps happen citywide), there might be an equally fair chance the buses could go to the local scheme.

I'd say it's 50-50. If FB is slow getting the XD40s wrapped, it could be something similar happening at KB. Two buses don't need to be wrapped now, but they might do it in a month with more additions. Also 5439 did not come back out ever since its first revenue run on the Bx15. 5441 hasn't come back out either. Anything is bound to occur.

As of the 13th, 5439 is still in the SBS scheme, and 5441 hasn't seen service since it left Flatbush. The XD40s at Flatbush are a different case, as they won't be going back into regular SBS service, and there's already a local scheme variant of the XD40s. The two Novas at Kingsbridge could easily get moved somewhere else and be placed back into SBS service, or those Novas at Flatbush could come to Kingsbridge, only time will tell I guess. As far as I know, there isn't a local scheme wrap available for the LFSA smartbus (not that it wouldn't be easy to make, just a little manipulation of the blue LFS scheme and boom, done)

But hey, anything's possible. I put my 2 cents in but at the end of the day, this is the MTA we're talking about. As always, the best course of action here is to wait and see.

Are 5439 and 5441 in local scheme yet?

There is a more appropriate thread (Repainted/Wrapped Buses) to ask that question in, but in all honesty, I don’t know if those two buses are even planned to be repainted.

They're still in the SBS scheme, and will most likely stay that way.

There's really no reason for them to even be in the local scheme. The rest of the 2016-2019 LFSA fleet are in the SBS scheme, and it doesn't make much sense to wrap those two buses in a local scheme, if there's a really good chance they're probably end up back in the SBS scheme. Besides, they were "supposed" to go to Gun Hill, but Kingsbridge is fighting to keep them.

And the argument that "having them in the SBS scheme would confuse riders" is moot, as none of the Kingsbridge routes have an SBS variant nor do they run alongside an SBS route, with the exception of the Bx9 which run with the Bx12 SBS, However, the Bx9 stops on Fordham Road are across the street from the Bx12 SBS stops, so there won't be much confusion there if an SBS wrapped bus shows up on the Bx9.

TL;DR 5439 and 5441 don't need to be placed in the local scheme for any reason so they most likely won't be.

Dont they run the (5) to Burnside Av while 138th St uptown is closed?

Not really. When they ran the (5) up to Burnside, uptown (4) and (5) trains were stopping on the middle track at 149th, so they wanted to avoid terminating (5) trains at 149th holding up (4)'s.

I was in Riverside Park recently, and all the way on the west side, adjacent to the Henry Hudson Parkway, there are some rectangular manhole-type covers, and it sounded like a train running below. Is that connected to the Broadway line somehow or is there some other track down there? Or, was I hallicinating lol?

That’s the Amtrak to/from Penn Station that travels along the West Side Highway and meets up with the Hudson Line north of Spuyten Duyvil.

BX ops, moderators, or anyone can  jump in on this please. Does Gun Hill have an school (PM) supplement on the Bx1/2?

    4405 and 4419 are on the Bx1 to 165 & Concourse.

They do, Gun Hill usually runs two PM trips on the Bx1 down to 165th. Here's a clip of two of Gun Hill's LFS' doing a run on the Bx1 from June of this year.

  9. So there's a water main break at Sedgwick and 195th in the Kingsbridge Heights section of the Bronx, and Bx3 buses are being rerouted. The MTA website states the reroute as follows:

    Service Change

Bx3 buses are detoured in both directions because of water main break on Sedgwick Av and 195 St.

    Detour is as follows:

Northbound: Via Kingsbridge Rd, right on Bailey Av, right on Albany Crest, left on Heath Av, left on Ft Independence St and then resume their regular route.

Southbound: Via Ft Independence St, right on Heath Av, right on Albany Crest, left on Bailey Av, left on Kingsbridge Rd and then resume their regular route.

However, lots of drivers aren't following this and are instead just continuing up University Avenue to Reservoir until they get back onto Sedgwick, which is a lot simpler and more direct than whatever the hell the website says.
