  1. No 8 Av Exp connection to the 6 Av Local at W4. You need to swap the C and D.
  2. Looks like no? Maybe they were installing bluetooth modules just in case?
  3. Yes. It's an April Fools joke. Look at the date... look at how there's no evidence outside of this article... Photoshop existed in 2002...
  4. I'll get WTC pictures Sunday if nobody hits it before then. There's also this, which I haven't seen anyone mention: http://web.mta.info/nyct/service/station121st.htm Manhattan-bound Service Restored at 121 St
  5. You don't need to have been. Just check the edit date of the original source. http://www.columbia.edu/~brennan/abandoned/76st.html
  6. 8-cars of R68 is 741760. 10-cars of R160 is 852000...
  7. You all know 76 St is an April Fools joke from 2002 right?
  8. Hmm, perhaps 4-3-3 so the conductor can be only 10% away from the middle of the platform. (Or recouple the last set too 5-2-3.) Regardless, I'm curious to know if they're capable of running sets with six A cars.
  9. 5 4-car sets could be converted into two 10-car trains as follows: recouple four 4-car sets as two 5-car sets and two 3-car sets. Then run two 10-car trains: 5-5 and 3-4-3.
  10. Nobody has confirmed this but it is definitely the word on the street.
  11. What do you mean? Do they get to keep the trains? If not, no way they'd do that. I'd be unsurprised if they do sue for damages due to having to keep older trains for longer, or some such.
  12. Never heard of it. You probably mean the R211 mock-up in Hudson Yards, which will replace the R46 and older.
  13. Just because I do not agree with the actions taken by my government does not delegetimize them, just as I think you are an idiot but would be deeply upset if this forum banned you. Let's get back to railroads.
  14. My uninformed guess - especially for the passenger E-brake pull - would be "The train performed correctly and emergency braking was not a failure."
  15. We live in a democracy, which means you have to get along with people who don't agree with you. Most people do not accept that cost, and so you don't get your way. Are you willing to work 12 hours a day for little to no pay to construct the infrastructure and then die when it fails? If so, move to China!
  16. Alternatively... because our government is responsible to the people it governs, whether we like it or not. E.g. China doesn't have NIMBY issues because vocal NIMBYs would be "re-educated." Single-party, totalitarian government is incredibly productive, but at too great a cost.
  17. Running to 71st also solves the issues of the yard. I'm not sure what you propose to do about that... I'll bet Queens riders (every single one of them) will complain a lot more loudly about losing a whole line of Manhattan-bound local trains (and no, does NOT count...) than the Bronx riders who now have to transfer at 53rd, 42nd, or walk a short distance.
  18. I'll swing by on NYE if nobody hits it before me. Chill - I don't think "high school kid" was meant as an insult.
  19. not to mention the housing BOOM in williamsburg.
  20. Where do you store the trains? The center express track? I'd say it's worth considering running one with temporary platform edge extensions and A Division cars, it could even run to Hudson Yards off-peak.
