Tell me about it, that background process was absolutely brutal, very very in depth and thorough...that part gave me more anxiety than phase one did, truthfully.....but feels excellent to be moving on to phase two,  can't believe I'll actually be operating trains sometime in the near future...😁🚉

It’s truly exciting to think of actually operating trains.  I’m so stoked.

Great news! Congrats bro! Can’t wait to get there.

Thanks man.  With hard work, dedication and determination you will get there.

Can you tell me if it is worth studying the Phase 1 Quizlet info? I understand it will be different like it was for S&D.

Always go with what is given directly to you.  Things can change from one class to the next.  Don’t rush it, enjoy the time you have now.  😬

Good job today steve and others, probably the most nervous I've been after taking an exam...that wait was like an eternity lol. I really feel bad for the 3 that didn't make it, everyone really put in the time and work in our class....medical#2 then phase 2, I'm ready, I absolutely know phase 2 will probably be exponentially harder, but I know we are ready as a class to tackle it....

Likewise @Lirrdream It was quite the journey and it’s just beginning.  Congrats again to all that passed!  Those waiting on a call, we were told that they will be planning out the future classes soon.  I’m guessing most likely beginning of next year.  Patience is key, as it has been said before, and then making the most of the time when you get the call.

Does anyone know if the Phase 1 stuff on Quizlet is accurate? Is it "good enough" to get a picture of what is ahead?

Anything can change even from the current Phase 1 class.  So just wait until you are given the packet.

I would say enjoy the time now reviewing and a little bit of relaxation.  I know what it is to be excited and want to get ahead.  Don’t rush it lol.

We are not exaggerating when we say it is intense.

One question at the SND. They just give you information to study for 5 weeks there is no test on that date is there. I don't like surprises. I like to be prepared.

They give you the packet and review it plus you sign a sheet stating that you understand that the test is verbatim.

No surprises, come back for your test on the date given.

People don’t take me seriously. Lol. Guys. I made it to the end. Lol. I know what I’m talking about. Put the work in and you will make. You don’t put the effort, your just going to fail out the program and waste a seat that someone else could’ve been in.  #facts. Training. department and HR don’t play around. If your struggling. YOU WILL BE MEETING WITH HR for the talking. Glad I wasn’t under that much pressure.

I believed you from the beginning and now I’m beginning to see it real time. There is NO cutting corners.  One thing you will come to see is that none of the engineers will bullshit you.  They tell it like it is and it’s a lot of WORK as you will hear or have heard.  Book of Rules is a textbook and you will need to know it.  I’m not even halfway through it and I’m stressing.  But work at it and it will begin to stick.  Everyone is different so you need to learn what works best for you.  Listen to your mind and body.  Good luck to those going to S&D.  Everyday takes studying, don’t cheat yourself.

I guess no one wants to say how the first day of phase 1 went. Lol

It went very well.  Eye opening for some.  Looking forward to the rest of the process.  Being randomly called about a definition or indication was daunting at first but when you see it isn’t only yourself that makes a flub and that you are there to learn from each other and support each other, it helps.

I think we all are trying to catch-up with rest cause it was such a long day LOL.   I know, it’s just the beginning of long days.  🙈

Yessss! Passed the S&D exam. I can finally breathe lol. Interview next month. Good luck everyone taking phase 1 and everyone on there way to the next class.

    Congrats!!

Good to see positive results on here!!

And Thank you for the well wishes.  Time to bust our butts.

See those in Phase 1 tonight.

Gooood morning! Doing pretty well, wish I didn't have to work half the day so I could study all day and really have no life 🤓

That’s my thing, working and then getting to study 3-4 hrs.  And these rules are so long they take forever to write out even if done sloppy.

I’m a little over halfway through it.  Tonight I should be able to get some more done and then tomorrow before our first class.  But I don’t think I’ll be finished by tomorrow.

@Steven trejo @Stevend258 @Iwetoddit one more week until class guys. Hows the pre-studying going? I'm just patiently waiting for it to begin,  hard road to get to just this point, just ready to continue this journey and learn as much as I possibly can.

It’s going lol.  Doing my best to get the rules perfected.  I can’t do all that writing like @Steven trejo my hand isn’t built for it lol.  I study 3-4 hours daily after work.  Weekends two study’s sessions.  This weekend will be intense for me.

  11. Got my email!!!  I’m in for Phase 1, phew.

Now I’ll be coming from Central Islip, would it be better to take the train or drive?

I do hope that that’s the only class at Hillside cause I’m not sure what to tell my supervisors about leaving early every Wednesday.

Back tracking a little as some of us have the S & D test this Saturday... any pointers going into the exam? how difficult do they make it? anyone have any insight, freaking out a little the closer it gets

Getting nervous and edging towards freaking out is about right.  It is exactly as they say it, all the signals, 20 indications including all 6 from Amtrak (Zone A), and 20 definitions.  If you have been studying everything and have it down packed then you should be fine.

From my own experience don’t overdue it.  Like don’t go crazy overstudying the night before.  Get enough rest and eat a little something the morning of.  Being nervous is good cause it means you care and want it bad.
