  1. On the topic of R46s, are all the A-A sets out of Jamaica?
  2. Just saw the set. I'm not sure if the has any more R62A sets without LEDs. It should really be on the and then send R62A sets without LEDs over to the .
  3. The profile insert here shows how the lines are arranged.
  4. I doubt there would ever be a Concourse-2nd Av service. Riders near that area in the Bronx already have the 4 nearby to get to the east side, and there's no point in having a 2nd Av service head to the west side only to bounce back east two stops later. A more likely scenario would be a service from 207th to the east side, which will pick up commuters coming off NJ Transit buses trying to get to the east side.
  5. So taking all this into account, extending the line to at least 8th Av/St. Nicholas would be generally feasible and beneficial for uptown/Bronx riders. I suppose the only concern would be avoiding the fault line to build tail tracks.
  6. I can buy into a 125th St line. Right now I have to take a bus to get to the Upper East Side. This goes for anyone in the northwest Bronx or northern Manhattan. Those buses, especially the Bx9, add so much time to the trip. Connections at Broadway and 8th Av would drastically reduce travel times, 15-20 minutes easily.
  7. I think the trains looked better when they had the silver and blue stripe paint jobs. The full stainless look is so bland. The MTA is getting blue buses, so I'm sure they can come up with something creative!
  8. Right. The point being, though, is that the express tracks were built below. Especially since the 2nd Av stations are island platforms, it'll make it easy to build right beneath them. If the line is ever extended into the Bronx or down to Brooklyn, they'll need them.
  9. What is the feasibility of this? I know it's very different now, but isn't this essentially what was done with the 6th Av express tracks?
  10. Lucky! I've been trying to catch that train for a while now. I don't think it runs every day. On a fluke I've caught the R32 set they run on the sometimes.
  11. Cool! I heard a story that the lower level of 42nd Street was built specifically to prevent the IRT from extending westward. Didn't seem to stop them this time!

  13. Do R68/A rollsigns have the Train to the Plane bullet?
  14. Something similar happens on the at 157th St. Probably a gap in the third rail, since I tend to ride in the same car. Also, I've ridden a train with broken HVAC...during the summer...it's miserable.
  15. Definitely. Since they store them outside they get pretty nasty each winter.
  16. Passed by 240th Yard today, R62As 2441-2445 have a fresh coat of paint on their end caps.
  17. Wasn't the "Route Change: This map is not in use" light on?
  18. Yes, for sure. It's so difficult to get to the East Side from Northern Manhattan.
  19. Do the yard stickers on R62/As have any bearing anymore? A lot of the 240th cars use red stickers, but the loaner R62s still have orange ones. Also, the Westchester cars seem to be a fleet of cobbled together consists.
