  1. The latest bunch of retired R-32s, this dated March 12: 3360/61, 3380/81, 3394/95, 3400/01, 3430/31, 3432/33, 3444/3777, 3706/07, 3792/93, 3834/35 (again), 3932/33, 3938/39. 58 R-32s left as of same date: 3396/97, 3414/15, 3448/49, 3460/61, 3476/77, 3488/89, 3512-15, 3520/3891 (last mis-mate), 3614/15, 3646/47, 3654/55, 3664/65, 3672/73, 3708/09, 3714/15, 3726/27, 3736/37, 3778-81, 3798/99, 3804/05, 3810/11, 3840/41, 3856/57. 3864/65, 3894/95, 3924/25, 3928/29.
  2. Down to 58 on the R-32s as of yesterday. March 12. Beware of some serious disruption next week. If so, the R-32s might wind up on the street sooner than expected!
  3. They are doing what they do best. They mix all the sets up and run them in any combination that they want to. Next thing I am expecting them to do is a 9 car set, 5 cars Siemens and 4 cars Alstom (there are some sets lying around for service) There are good technical reasons that the R-160s weren't randomly mixed when at Coney Island.
  4. Whom ever made up that rumor about the R32’s being down to 80 cars is a tool. The consists listed on the so called retired list are IN SERVICE as I type. I operated in them. 3894/3895 etc! None of the cars shown above are on the retired list, so they should (better) be in service! 3894/95 was pulled off the retirement list as of this Saturday (March 7). 3818/19 are still shown as retired, nor were shown in service through March 6 listings after brief restoration. Is it still active? We'll find out this week. I'd say either 82 or 84 are currently in service, depending...for this day anyway.
  5. New deliveries were completed on December 27.
  6. By the March 7 update, it looks like just 32 R-46s are left at Jamaica: 5498, 5506, 5526, 5570, 5574, 5606, 5734, 5802. This ought to be polished up this week! My own supposition (very unofficial) would look like just 10 more Siemens R-160 moves to Jamaica in trade: 8888, 8913, 8933, 8938, 8978 and 8988 thru 9008. Again, perhaps this week? That would total 396 R-46s at Coney Island and 1200 exactly R-160s at Jamaica. Let's see! Question is where those remaining 85 will be until CBTC is completed later? Hmmm...
  7. I was down this week with computer troubles (as in multiple!) I think all these fleet changes are boobling the mother drives! That R-32 list looks right for March 3 but with 82 left not 80. Need a minimum of seven 10- or nine 8-car trains (or a combination thereof) to support the operating schedule otherwise you technically get into equipment "shortage" territory, but the R-32s keep getting sidelined as long as they continue to fail, which is constantly. Looks like one pair has been reactivated, could be for that red line. Tough call. Did anyone else learn that NYCT contractor used to truck the "scrap" cars to Jersey went belly up around February 21. Disposition was "on hold" last week until someone else shows up or the former contractor can be reorganized and/or re-opened. (Oops??)
  8. February 28 AM: 200 R-160s left at Coney Island; 88 R-46s left at Jamaica. No R-46 on the now for a week. Several R-46 trains on now. We can describe them as "regular."
  9. The train doors that slide open between cars. Sometimes the inside latch gets jammed up and may require a lot of work to be fixed. Old days they used to large hammer the outside edge to dislodge the thing but then couldn't get the door to restore to its frame. That required an entire new door assembly which required some of the interior panels to be taken off then returned and usually with paint repair etc etc. Like stated, probably not worth it at this stage.
  10. It hadn't appeared through last Monday (February 24). I think everybody else forgot! So when the last train starts to operate will that end this threat?
  11. Thank You! So much for all the "Alskaw R-160s" at Coney Island.
  12. The last update I had was dated February 15 and there were still 25 Alskaw R-160s at Coney Island: 8728, 8743, 8768, 8778, 8833 all ready to move imminently. There were no moves expected the week of February 17-21, but I gather they did? I was "visiting" Pittsburgh. Great place in the middle of winter So now the Siemens are indeed going, so please be aware of "mixed" R-160 consists on !?
  13. The eight R-32 retirements added for February 22: 3442/43, 3550/51, 3718/19, 3818/19. 3442/43 has a seized communication door. Why bother, eh? Time for a new list of overall retirements (i.e. obituary listing). Lets try this out: 3354/55, 3376/77, 3383/3890, 3384/85, 3404-07, 3410/11, 3416/17, 3419/3740, 3424-29, 3436/37, 3440-43, 3445/3468, 3446/47, 3452-55, 3471/3658, 3472/73, 3484/85, 3496/97, 3500/01, 3518/19, 3522/23, 3548/3593, 3550/51, 3574/75, 3578/79, 3586/87, 3590/91, 3606/07, 3610/11, 3618/19, 3624/25, 3628/3669, 3644/3621, 3650/3767, 3660/61, 3682/83, 3688/89, 3698/99, 3716-19, 3728-33, 3738/39, 3770/71, 3774/75, 3806/07, 3818-23, 3870-3, 3876-79, 3888/89, 3896/97, 3900/01. Should be 98 R-R32s left as of the week of February 24.
  14. Sorry for the delay. I had a week away to do a few other things during the "vacation" time (heh heh). 16 R-32s listed retirement February 15: 3376/77, 3446/47, 3445/3468, 3500/01, 3574/75, 3628/3669, 3716/17, 3738/39. Your welcome!
  15. 106 R-32s still breathing (live). That WAS the Planning Dept quantity before the R-179s were delivered thru the R-211 beginning. Now maybe we know which 106? As of now its still doesn't like this February 7 Car Assignment is taking place. That's also showing 70 R-32s on the (not zero anywhere I can find). Its about the same quantity as on the when they use their usual 8 or 9 trains, which they generally do! The 70 on the is also gonna make those get more and faster wear and tear, too.
  16. Supposed to be a big dump this spring. Something like four a day most (two round trips) unless somewhere another trucking contractor show up suddenly (from somewhere?). Up to youz all to keep your eyes open.
  17. So has anyone seen 3040-49 doing burn-in yet?
  18. Very nice pictures! I admire the effort extra credit. If like last time they'll sit with the lights on for up to weeks until getting moved to 207 for processing. Sometimes the compressors keep running unattended even. They are only subway cars after all. Not like they're really alive (as opposed to "live"). Winter of 2009: I remember one set of Slants was literally FROZEN (and I mean f-r-o-z-e-n, as in ice) into place around Track 43 and was even drawing power as it broke away for the ice lake when departing for its final run to 207. What an electrical show!! She was on the barge a couple of weeks later.
  19. There are "dead" subway cars all over the property and have been there in times for decades. What is the big deal?????
  20. 2022 maybe 23. Whats left. Hope they make it?
