  1. Nice list, but my understanding is the two work R-32 pairs (3494/95 and 3642/43) were part of a Movie Shoot, not passenger service. Those 10 cars have been deprived of revenue service since 2010 and ONLY used on Work assignments. The others are 3510/11, 3552/53, 3694/95. They're a huge mess inside anyway like many work cars. Don't expect anything like that to see anywhere soon. Neither of these cars were used in passenger revenue service either or on January 8. While on the topic, was anyone ever to find if 3370/71 actually still existed?
  2. At least 4 trains of R-42s on J (no Z) yesterday AM. Don't know afterward. Look for yourself. Many reports were to find transfers of R-160A-1s from ENY to 207 and R-32s from 207 to ENY last week. For however this lasts, the general idea seems to revert the B Div fleet to status as a year ago. Remember when that happened last time early 2019. So, as for the R179s some have to understand the essentialy difference between whether a screw simply "exists" versus how deeply it must be inspected for sufficiently "fastened within."
  3. As others revealed, 3878/79 has been out of service already long term. 3454/55 was sidelined and "supposed" to be processed but evidently was hastily brung back to the rails yesterday. The other 16 cars (creating list of 20) were 3404/05, 3410/11, 3424/25, 3452/53, 3484/85, 3496/97, 3698/99, 3900/01. None were back in service as of yesterday's AM lists and would have been shocked to so noted. Time will tell for the others but at least 12 of those were already being stripped this week.
  4. Unlikely. The processing (dismemberment) job would already be programmed and costly to unduly reverse without a major difference for the fleet availability. Better to take whatever useful parts could be harvested for the 204* others.
  5. Best as I can understand the 16 R-32s removed from the fleet last week have and will not be put back in service. Stripping work had already began on Monday. 3454/55 was in the line to go on the chop shop too but was inn another track then returned to Inspection and the yard then was still available. That would get the Brightliner fleet back up to 204. Probably all there will be but will watch. So, it would seem doubt there will be any MORE R-32s retired anytime soon, Mhhhh?!?!?
  6. Yes, it's out of Jamaica Yard now. Just a thought (something maybe to watch for): Possible temporary transfers of R-46s from Jamaica to Pitkin to fill up for the missing R-179s, with as many as R160s would be jumping from Coney Island to Jamaica anyways.
  7. All I can say to begin with is this quote: "One flew east, One flew west. One flew over the cuckoo's nest." Ain't it grand?!?
  8. The R-32 fleet is today shown as 202 cars (no longer 222), as previously prognosticated. How much lower we'll see in time. And to pile on yes there were at least three R-32 trains over the weekend. I presumably only to Lefferts as those long rides to Far Rock can be a bear for both your a** and your C/R.
  9. Same info here. I would expect 3030-39 perhaps on the road this week, maybe the last 10 (3040-49) aboutish January 20. No new burn-in video now for quite some time! Would be fine to see the very last one. DJ Hammers??
  10. Jamaica acquired four R-46 cars? They have to add up to 750 cars overall. Again, 354 Pitkin + 48 Coney Island = 402 + 348 Jamaica = 750.
  11. 344 cars which equals 43 eight car train-sets As of tonight there are 348 at Jamaica; 354 at Pitkin and 48 at Coney Island. The surviving R-46 total fleet are 750 cars. (8-car Trains=43.5 Jamaica, 44.25 Pitkin; 6 Coney Island)
  12. Still not sure what you mean, but Jamaica had 99 4-car links of R46s before the swap. Now they have 87. That would be doubled to create 43½ 8-car trains. Of course they'd only really use 43 if so. Coney Island had 570 R160s before the swap or 114 5-car links. Now they have 106. That would be doubled to create 53 10-car trains. Coney Island keeps enough equipment to create up to 99 full-length trains. In actual the schedule is not like that in reality if mainly because of the 2-car trains used on the Franklin Shuttle by 2916-24, and the 13 4-car trains (single 75-foot link) used on the "Crosstown" (). Does that make sense?
  13. Just a though about olden days on NYCTA the cars were sometimes transferred just by a phone call when desperation beckoned. They could be wandering around for months! Lets try this expression (The Art of the Deal) between brethren but boy you really had to know them well.
  14. Again a new subject: We have a list of 20 newly retired R-32s at 207, presumably to be batched processing (stripped) for scrapping soon. IF this is done as the last time so around 2010 and the reefing before that, all were dismembered at Tracks 11 & 12 inside the Main Shops. Lets see how this works. It appears a guess so far will entail 20 cars per work for 4 weeks (that would be the 80 cars as widely circulated). Interested in the specific car numbers or is that TMI?
  15. 4 car sets linked for R46s. 5 car sets linked for R160s. The R46s are not consecutive (even cabs each ends), the R160s are consecutive.
  16. Most likely: Depends on where the cars that are ready to be moved, as in already together at both facilities. BOTH R160s sets CBTC ready on one side and in a proper inspection (as in desired mileage status and/or mechanical status) going over to CIY. If both sets were so lucky to be at Coney Island and didn't actually need to be transferred, CIY (likely) wouldn't do that unless they received their own initial inspection while the R160s would (likely) require its own inspection by JYD before just dropping a "stranger" equipment into the to get to Queens in the first place. For DCE Mega CYA is more important than saving a few cents against light transfers.
  17. Jamaica isn’t doing well with their car inspections. Coney Island barn is NOT having it. and crews have made complaints. Also this swap is apocalyptic for SeaBeach, Astoria, and Broadway riders. They’re going to notice the difference really quickly. So here are the second 3 for 2 swap (ended January 3): 24 R46 transferred (#2) 5546-49 & 5674-77 to CIY on Dec 23; 5534-37, 5566-69, 5590-93, 5842-45 to CIY on Jan 2. 20 R160 transferred (#2) 8148-52 & 9198-9202 to JYD on Jan 2; 9118-22 & 9478-9482 on Jan 3. Understand that the R160s can only be moved that they are "QBL (Thales?) CBTC accepted and enabled" of how many are complete for the road, we have yet no idea. The early pattern is the 3 by 2 swap once per month (ca first Monday?). If that were the case the whole process would require about a year and a half, but time will tell. 18. Yes, it’s heading to Jamaica Yard as we speak. 9122-9128* Um, I bet that's 9122-9118 back axed.
  19. 5482-5533, 5538-5545, 5550-5581, 5586-5589, 5594-5653, 5658-5673, 5682-5685, 5690-5745, 5750-5813, 5818-5841, 5846-5877: Jamaica for now Currently, 5534-7, 5546-5549, 5582-5585, 5590-5593, 5654-5657, 5674-5681, 5686-5689, 5746-5749, 5814-5817 and 5842-5845 at C.I Yd 5734-37 got bounced back to Jamaica about a week ago. Originally mated with 5534-37 which STAYED at CIY. My guess is something was awry from their initial inspection at Coney Island. (If so, make JAMAICA fix its own mess!) Whatever the case it was on the Monday, December 30.
  20. Aging is beginning to outpace the fleet's required needs and that's more of a historical fault. Not much anything can be done to reverse the sands of time. And its not feasibly to temporarily use buses instead like on some systems, eh? Hopefully some people won't make foolish mistakes that they would very much regret and soon. No easy of cheap fix until the R-211s are born and show how well.
  21. I guess now they gotta remove those green stickers. 🤣 Wouldn't they rather wait until Christmas is officially over in January of the New Year?!
  22. What can we say when it comes to the MK R-42s--dead is gone and done whichever way you slice them. Enjoy the ride of 4572 & 4573 when you can (or better yet the scene on "The French Connection").
  23. Well there's a stunner!! Thank You. The inside source says that those last 10 MK R-42s have not been officially retired, yet no one seems to know yet whether "it" will actually be used again. As far as the trip last Friday afternoon I was apprised of many of the attendees (more like party-goers) were told in stripes that was going to be the "Final" trip: 5:15 from Broad Street to Jamaica Center then layup to ENY. Even the operating crew was serious assuming that was the last revenue trip. It could be the train did get a reprieve for some reason, if only temporarily. (I am only the messenger. "We" try the arrow setting straight). Now as to the R-32s as well, there are other at least two "quite credible" sources who now are claiming that fleet-based part retirement of the Phase I R-32s is also belayed, with just the known four cars permanently retired but maybe no others, for another temporary period. Too many conflicting is making your guess at this point as well as I. Best thing is just to keep a collective eye as time proceeds. And (as always) time will tell!
  24. It looks like the Eleventh 10-car train was placed on A service around Monday, 3020-3029 as of December 23. Its already broken been into two trains as of December 27.
