  1. Exactly because about half of the train fleet is stored at Jamaica Yard/Hillside Avenue Express tracks every night and every weekend till the AM Rush.
  2. all those southbound platforms should have just remained closed till the rehab work is 100 percent done.
  3. plus remember that during middays and Saturdays is when the runs every 7-8 minutes in both directions (15 minutes east of Rockaway Boulevard) which means the line itself generally has 38-40 trainsets out in passenger service. But during rush hours, it has a total of 38 trainsets in the AM and 40 trainsets in the PM. In short, the extra trains that come out of the 207th Street yard and start service at either Dyckman or 168th in the PM make the train's headways shorter than 7-8 minutes.
  4. the schedule has all 5 trains from Rockaway Park going to 207th Street in the AM Rush
  5. alternate rush hour trains to Kings Highway have little to do with ridership and more to do with capacity at Stillwell. technically, they could run nearly all those trains to Stillwell if they want to just like how they run nearly all rush hour trains to Jamaica Center i think the post made by paulrivera was alot more clearer and valid than i did though
  6. you're wrong because the diamond crossover is midway between West 8th and Stillwell which means Stillwell can't handle a train every 4 minutes during rush hours so 50% of them have to turn at Kings Highway. Also shortly before the morning rush hour or the evening rush hour is over, the last "extra" trains get taken out of service at Kings Highway and run empty to the yard on the middle track they could turn a bit more than just 7.5 trains an hour at Stillwell before the morning rush hour or the evening rush hour is over, however those "extra" trains can't get taken out of service and run empty to the yard after Stillwell because the Stillwell area of the yard is where they have trains stored whereas the Avenue X area of the yard is where they have trains stored so the extra trains on the line get removed from service at Kings Highway shortly before the rush hour is over for midday service to start getting the headways on the entire line down to 7-8 minutes instead of 4 minutes
  7. 8 minutes to/from Coney Island and 8 minutes to/from Kings Highway during rush hours actually which means 4 minutes between each train total
  8. this is why they should have ran the 24/7 between Utica avenue (New Lots Avenue overnight and early Sunday morning) and the Bronx like they did last time
  9. it would make more sense to have the train run 24/7 between East 180 street and Utica avenue (New Lots avenue at night and early Sunday mornings) than to have the train replace it during this particular GO like last time they did it
  10. not to mention the is based at Concourse yard and the is based at Jamaica yard. neither of those two lines are based at Coney Island yard, just stored there
  11. are you sure ? i don't think anybody on the Astoria line really cares if the train is local along the Broadway line to be honest because the Broadway express running time doesn't really make much of a difference as it is only five extra stops the makes and i don't think anybody on the Astoria line is going past chinatown or downtown Manhattan except for a small few for that matter.
  12. the being extended to lower manhattan is so that weekend 6th ave passengers can connect with the rerouted on the broadway line at chinatown-canal st
  13. Around the horn already explain why it gets shorten to the grand central during weekend outages like this
  14. why would they transfer to the ? the makes the same avenue of the Americans station stops too. they just don't want the current riders piling onto already overcrowded rush hour trains or generally having to make multiple transfers to other lines just to reach chelsea and midtown manhattan or the itself to get to Broadway in Brooklyn and the Myrtle Avenue line.
  15. i don't see why not, sure it's only two local stops but the will still remain on the same local tracks with the till just north of West 4th where the switches are available. having it run express will just make it miss the transfer at 14th.
  16. i'm almost certain that it is just an error the made on the printed timetable for the line. last time I rode that line on a regular weekday morning rush hour, it took 7 minutes for me right before i switched over to the line that was already waiting across the platform after it arrived at the same time with my train that i switched from.
