  1. I caught the first everything today. First (Q) down 2 Av, from the relay tracks, to 96 St, and even the first 2 Av delay.

And from my test rides today, guess what? BUGS (although not surprising) Seems most evident when the (Q) reached 63rd St. Sometimes the automated announcements have to be started up again or the conductor has to make manual announcements because the announcements lag.

Never imagine a perfect world in the (MTA) .

I was on that train in the first car, and way before we got to Lex-63rd, it announced "This is...", and we got stuck in the tunnel for a few minutes. Then, when we got to 72nd, it was still saying "THE NEXT STOP IS ; 72 ST" and it didn't even play any announcements except Stand Clear of the Closing Doors. At 86th Street, it went back to normal. It was one buggy train.

Also, Charlie Pellet was on the train and I met him and took some photos.

On the way back, I noticed the Coney Island bound announcement changed. It now states "This is a Coney Island - Stillwell Avenue bound (Q) local train."

  2. Service Change Posted: 12/17/2016 7:32AM

Due to the opening of the South Channel Bridge, the following service changes are in effect:

There is no (A) Subway train service between Howard Beach-JFK Airport and Far Rockaway-Mott Av in both directions

There is no (S) Subway train service between Broad Channel and Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St in both directions.

Shuttle bus service is available in both directions between Rockaway Blvd and Beach 90 St. Customers may find Shuttle buses at the south end of the station exit at Rockaway Blvd.

Shuttle train service is available between Rockaway Park-Beach 116 St and Far Rockaway Mott Av in both directions.

As an additional alternative customers may use the Q22, Q53 or Q113 bus service making nearby station stops.

    Allow additional travel time.

Welp, The snow hasn't stopped yet, and it's reasonable for the Rockaways to close easily.

More fine work from the MTA at Lexington Av-63rd St... What's wrong with this picture?

(Hint: Look at the exit signs)

(Hint: Lexington Avenue and 3rd Av are at opposite ends of the station, but both signs are pointing the same way - I know the column partially blocks one of the signs...)

Another weirdly spaced sign... The (Q) will probably placed right next to the (F)... And how are the 2 exits so close to each other?

  4. It's been reported that the R1-R9 Museum train had problems last Sunday and that R4 #484 could be the problem. If you watch the U-Tube video from the Summer trip that they were used on, you can hear Bill Wall say to the train operator " Looks like 484 is being the problem child today, the brakes are slow releasing ". My guess is that the issue was not totally resolved. Mike & Bill will figure itr out. The D-Type/AB Train could always fill in.

I was on that Holliday train Sunday, and the train did seem to start to break earlier... Also, the R4 jerked around the most.

  5. I feel like it the traffic around the (Q) has some part in why it runs behind.

Ehh... The (Q) doesn't really affect service. The bus stops, and lets passengers on and off the same time it takes at other stops regardless of if there is a (Q) coming... however, the area between Ocean Avenue and Coney Island avenue on Avenue M has traffic at times.

Borough Park is what kills the B9.

That is very true. There are a lot of people that may not be mindful of what they are doing, like crossing the road on red.

One other thing that causes this problem is because when there is a 30 minute interval between busses, and then there are busses that are 10 minutes behind that bus, and can easily catch up due to the accumulating amount of riders waiting at each stop, and then all three stay clustered because one bus gets one stop, the other gets another, and etcetera. The thing is, I don't understand why the second bus is leaving the terminal 30 minutes after the first one.

  6. I am not to happy that they are going to replace all the R42s and just some of the R32s. They should keep the R42s over the R32s. The R32s are older than the R42s. I think should do SMS on what remains of the R42 fleet and the R32s left after the R179s come into service. The MTA is only getting rid of about 112 R32s and the remaining 50 R42s. I think they should get rid of 162 R32s instead as there is only about 222 R32s left in service. Keep the R42s and have them make 5 train sets on the G line after SMS treatment same for the remaining R32s. Have them run on the G to create more train sets as the M and L lines will be shut down for maintenance that means more people will be on the G.

It makes more sense to replace the R42's for the following reasons:

    1.

The R32s are in much better shape than the R42s. It makes literally no sense to keep them.

    2. There are way more R32's than R42's still in service.

  7. For my first two years of High School I rode the (Q) every day to school on R68A's, Wheres I didn't ride them on the (N) nearly as much. Plus the (B) is always going local along Brighton during Midday G.O's so seeing them on the (Q) again isn't really exciting to me anymore. I could totally understand someone who didn't ride the Brighton Local regularly prior to the 160s loving the 68 (Q) train though :)

Now once SAS is up and running I'd LOVE to see 68's on the (Q).

I remember and rode the (D) on Brighton and the orange Q.

Yeah. The really annoying part about those G.O.'s is the fact that both lines run express on one side, and local on the other. The Brighton line has really frustrated me. But before 2010, it was really common for me to get a seat in an R68 (Q).
