Customers are noticing the change in equipment. It’s pretty impressive I must say...

When I got on a PM rush R46 (Q) for the first time (5774-5777 and 5486-5489), the looks on people’s faces said it all... Almost every single person hesitated to enter, with several asking if this is actually a (Q) train... One even asked why such an old train is even running here.

    I mean there's a regular R46 (Q). NOT a short-turn (N).

Last week, an R46 (Q) headed southbound at Times Square around 9:35AM, THEN the short-turn (N) from 96 St came in right behind it (also an R46)

There's a mixture in fleet at the Coney Island Yard: the (N)(W) and (Q) has 160s with 46s.

I can confirm that there is an R46 in regular service on the (Q), not just short-turns, this was at 6:15 PM today...:

  3. If we take the fact that prior to the swap, the F used 14 R46 trains, and the R used 31, and the N/W collectively used 29 R160 trains, while the Q used 21, there are clearly enough R46 trains to cover all of the N/W's R160s as well as the entirety of the G (though the G may be keeping its R68s), still having a considerable amount of trains left over for use by the B/Q... However, I'm still not sure how car assignments will fully play out, we'll have to wait and see for ourselves.

  4. Hmm... If the (Q) can’t turn at 72nd for the time being because there is no third track, then what if a connection is made to the southbound SAS from 63rd west of 2nd Avenue and then when 55th St Station is built, it could be built with 3 tracks. Even though the (Q) might curve backwards a bit, 55th can offer transfers to the (E)(M) and (6), while at the same time making the (T) able to run at full capacity. What do you guys think of that idea?
