Are we allowed to appeal our score because when I originally checked my answers for the train operator test I got a higher grade? Now it shows a lower score. This doesn’t make sense.

They had to adjust scores and lost numbers cause 1 session was not graded properly, one of the answers was incorrect

  2. Day 1 of 15 Posting, boldly going where no one has gone before, well except one over the pass three weeks but i'm not gonna let Nipaaaa take my spotlight :P. Had PM relays at 179 today. Did a relay on the upper overhanging, then a relay on the lower, another relay on the lower, then a relay on the upper overhanging again. then a double end on the lower where I did the put in. Then another double end but on the upper. I did the put in again. Then lunch. After lunch we took a train to the lower relay and then back to Jamaica yard. We didn't go into the yard, Just into the lead up to the first homeball of the yard, then changed ends and bought it back to LU1 on D4 parsons. Then a double end relay to the lower, I did the put in side. Very busy day for me. I was with T/O Douglas. Very cool guy and had some great advice for braking. I learned a lot today!

    Good luck to you guys!
Don't worry, it's pretty easy, just make stay on top of the signals. Also, don't forget that you guys will need to key-by automatics and accept call-ons for the signal practical.

Yeah that's gonna be the hard part, we're not gonna have favorable weather

    2 Questions if I may.

    1. I went for my first pre-employment at the end of November and have recently moved. Do I go through DCAS to change my address?

    2. After my drug test expires (2/28/19)  do I just wait to be contacted for a 2nd P.E?

    Thanks in advance

Yeah you wait, they will most likely email you when they want you to come in. Don't be surprised if it's not right away, they waited1 month after my first expired to contact me but contacted me again 1 week later for medical.  So they will probably wait until closer to when they will be close to final process, did you change your contact information with the MTA?

Yeah I guess he toned it down for y’all because he isn’t instructing you guys. During my dry run, he hit me with everything and the kitchen sink in terms of sabotaging the train.

Oliver was the same way with us, was he a breeze for you guys? I heard there is a list they have to follow...

Thanks bro. Good luck to you as well!

We’re in CIY now just studying a bit before the practical. Our proctors are TSS’ Lois and Oliver (yes, your Oliver).

You have one of our TSS’, Khan. He’s a bit of a hardass, but he’s fair. Just do your thing and don’t drink the koolaid.

Yeah were here at concourse r68's everywhere! Good luck with oliver... he's a combination of bad koolaid and bananas in the tailpipe!

Hope to see you on the road as well in the future! Just work hard and pay attention, you’ll be fine.

I wouldn’t say that I’m the most helpful on the forum, but I appreciate your kind words.

    Good luck!

He's being modest,he is the most helpful.

Thanks man. You’ve really been one of the most helpful people on this forum. Hope to see u on the road one day... If I make it. Lol.

Keep calm it's not like most of the horror stories say. The new direction they are taking they really want you to pass, the TSS's wanna look good lol. I was terrified 2 weeks ago I wouldn't be able to pass a practical but now...I'm good, I feel like I can pass it the TSS did a lot of focus on me. You'll make it. Even a bit of confidence can help. You'll make it!

My TSS’ are pretty cool about the uniform. I have a guy in my class who only wears grey polos and they haven’t told him anything.

I would suggest you have some grey button downs as a back up if they’re not keen on your polos.

Hopefully they don’t screw your induction class like they did ours. We didn’t get measured for our uniforms until the 3rd week because of a scheduling snafu.

Oh what do you TB 12s know about snafus 😝. Positive note some pieces came really quick

Does anyone know if we will be issued our ID’s and employee transit passes during orientation, or on the first day of school car training? Also, roughly, how long is orientation? I’m assuming it will drag on to 4pm, but has any previous classes been let go early on the first day. I have a very serious personal matter that day and I don’t want to ask for permission to leave early on the first day with the fear that I might be remembered as that guy. Any assistance or advise would be very much appreciated.

You get your pass the first day of school car. And you have to stay 8 hours no exception. Even if they have nothing for you they will hold you for the 8 hours.

It’s overwhelming for sure man. Make sure you’re communicating with your class on a daily/nightly basis. That mutual support goes a long way.

Every night when I get home, I type out EVERYTHING we learned for that day as far as procedures and protocol without a book to test myself and my classmates will correct me where I’m wrong.

For cuts and adds, remember the importance of testing your pilot valves before engaging/disengaging your handbrakes. Write down a check list of what you need to inspect before each step.

    Also; Who are your TSS’?

Oliver and Daughtry. Daughtry was a teacher for conductors, this is his first T/O class...

Nah gotta think positive, the signals will come with time! Cutting and adding also you will get better doing it with practice! Cutting you’re just splitting cars, adding your combining them.

I know that but the procedure is nuts step by step and my yard practical 2 months away. I wish there was an outside source or a video or something. Cause having to wait for everyone to do a cut and add I'm not gonna get much practice

Where the Novemebr T/Os at??? How’s it going so far, liking it, disliking it??? Last week of yard posting for me then YX!

Congrats man. I'm straight terrified. Not sure I can cite all the signals verbatim. Cutting and adding seems complicated. Granted I just started on the 17th. But I can't seem to retain alot of it...

  14. So I figured I'd post what I've been through here. First day was December 17th. The first week the first 3 days was pretty much orientation for both TA and Union. Lots of paper work and books handed out. Pretty much cut of the river orientation stuff for most big companies, got some equipment the 3rd day at the Union hall. The 4th day Thursday we were back at PS248 we got more equipment and started to learn some basic Acronyms but the most important ones. Learn them! These acronyms that they teach you at the start are gonna come in use for when you first start yard posting on your on. They will be your prayer every day. All classes even A division (I'm B) went down to CI yard and got track certified. Was cool to climb on a R46. Friday was first day of OT. Security was suppose to show to do some training with us but never did. It was a regular learning day, as was Sunday. You usually won't have to do training on Sunday it just applies to us so we can have the holiday eve's and holidays off. So Thursday we started reporting to individual locations. My class started with 207 yard and learning the R32. There was no R32 learning the first day though. We learned about key by signals most of the day and a bit of terminology. Today Thursday we learned some basics on rail components and switch components and safely traversing tracks in yards(Different then when we went to CI yard as we weren't even close to any switches and in yards you will have to traverse switches.)In the later part of the day we did walk the yard and watched how to inspect the R32 and some components under the truck, then climbed aboard the R32. We each took a turn charging the train and dumping the brakes(I didn't really catch on I need a list or something lol).We also knocked off and reapplied the hand brake. No actual movement but was still cool though.More fun tomorrow as we report to ENY yard for the R42!
