When you get assigned your instructors they can assist with getting the leather holster for your brake handle, cutting key and reverser. Some TA guy makes it on the side. Im the opposite of you. I didn’t get one because that’s extra weight on my belt (I use a duty belt) and when I’m on the road I will always have my bag with me.

Also what bag do you use, I had a kaka bag since day 1 and that thing is crammed

I'm looking at it more as an orginizer, just seems easier to track things and make sure you have them if they are together and in view

That was my classmate, he got it from his boy who had an extra one. I’m still trying to find out where to get one. It’d help so much to have something to hold those 3 tools.

I only took a quick peek, thought it was you, def would help, Google here I come lol

Honestly, I wouldn’t be too hard on the kid. He was young and it takes a certain kind of courage to know what he wanted and move on. Him leaving was probably the best move for him and for the TA as a whole.

You think its cause lois said it's not about speed, its not a thrill seeking job, just leave if that's what your looking for,do that on your own time...hell so he just left 😂

    Thanks for the info...

already talked to my doc ahead of time to have paperwork filled out the day I can bring it to him...just have to go to Scranton, PA to his office to do that so not a quick turnaround.

Hope to run into you guys eventually on the job!

A letter from your doctor won't matter, I bought one to and they still put me on hold and handed me their paper to fill out

I know I will be placed on med hold due to diabetes and sleep apnea...already using CPAP (just at 2 weeks today), and diabetes is well managed (non-insulin)...is there MTA paperwork for your doctor to fill out or will a general letter from my primary doctor stating that my current treatment regimen will not be a medical factor? Took forever to get a sleep study scheduled or this would’ve been done months ago...

Speaking from experience since I was put on hold for my diabetes (Started Class Yesterday)They have their own form for you to fill out. Might be able to call livingston and have it faxed in advanced. But without it they will put you on hold and hand you one personally when you go in for eval. I got mine cleared up within a week. You should be fine if you can get ahold of that paper before your med date.

Damn we just missed each other’s classes. Good luck my friend, and you too @TO legacy!

I’m already telling my class now, no man left behind, we’re pushing for 100% success rate.

I think I'm gonna just chill in mine sometime else jumped on it and that's fine by me, I'm probably the tallest whitest guy in the class 😝

Hey so I'm guessing if I haven't heard anything from the MTA as of yet it's safe to say that I have been DQ'd for some reason? If that is how can I try to see the reason as to why I was disqualified? I'm really bummed about this. I guess I put all of my eggs in one basket for this one.

The first question will be what is your list number? Don't state the exact number, put and X in the last digit like 136X.

Second looking at your posts you went in for pre employment on 11/14. From other posts on here they haven't cracked the barrier for 11/9 yet so have patience!

Got sworn in and fingerprinted today, out by 1:15pm.

    List # 73*

Got very lucky because there weren’t a lot of people there for their medicals.

Make sure you go over your paperwork in fine detail because it speeds the process along.

I’ll be seeing you guys in the 17-Dec class!

P.S. Heard some fellow forum-goers laughing about my question regarding alcohol the night before, not even mad at you. Enjoy the wait though.

Congrats man welcome to the Dec 17th class...This class is starting to fill with some of the best people on this board!

I chose the Wolverine boot. Boot is really comfortable and lightweight. A lot of TO's recommend it.

Try the wolverine type heard they are the most comfortable off the site.

    I wish I could have but being I need EEE width I couldn't 😢

Congrats!!! You could honestly just read chapter 1 of the rule book, that's what your first quiz will be on. Honestly everything else will be school car stuff and you're gonna have time to get used to that. If you want, you can read the track components chapter in the induction manual (unit 4), it has a few pictures as well in there to get you familiar with them. (Unit 2 has definitions/terminology as well) Once you get out there it might be a bit of help, along with your LIRR knowledge depending on what position you held with them. Again congratulations and welcome!!

I have no knowledge as I have never been employed with any MTA agency. LIRRMedford is just my home station :P
