  1. No. They will give you the materials to study and tell you exactly what is on the test and what you need to study and how (verbatim, everything word for word in the exact way in the material). They give you the road map to succeed you just need to put in the time and effort to follow the plan and do what they tell you.

Gotcha, thanks Dre.  I wasn't sure if I had to be studying the horns too now for overview.  She made it sound like you would be questioned at overview maybe on it. lol.  Whats your next step, waiting on physical exam?

  2. IH,

Signals and definitions will be on the test. The horn/buzzer/hand signals we will need to know for the first day of class. He told us at the test that the more material we know when we start the easier it will be as they are just going to be piling us on with a lot of stuff and it's critical not to fall behind.

Ok, thanks. But, at overview there isn't anything expected from us yet, like answering questions there on the spot about this stuff yet? Her wording in email was vague.

  3. Just a little update. Last week I received a call from HR offering me a conditional job offer. Just finished all background information and patiently waiting for next steps IE medical and drug tests!!! Im so excited! guys keep the faith!

Congrats!! Good luck, for conductor trainee, right?

  4. Well, after emailing Linda Oliver I get a response that says my paperwork is in the "papeework doesn't match" pile. Apparently my resume and application had a 1 month difference that i didn't notice. She tells me to correct the paperwork but they have it. Should I print a new one and mail it in. She didn't answer my last question about this. Just my f'ing luck, could've already been in the groove for S&D.

  5. My friend on RR has 3 buddies who are all "cams" that got pulled for May's S&D overview date. He let me know cuz he knows I'm waiting. But I haven't seen any one here say they got an invite nor did I. Still no letter for me either. Job was just opened and closed recently. Sooo, I figure, who the hell even knows what is gonna happen next. I applied for other stuff that was there but i guess I'll just move on with my life and not worry about this. I guess they aren't getting the right mix of candidates if they constantly reopening the position.

  6. oddly enough, i just got a letter in the mail stating that i am not chosen because i failed the initial test. there is no way that is possible. they tell you that you don't get to the math portion if you fail any previous part and i know for a fact i passed that 4th grade math test, i completed it twice before turning it in. The math was perfect. I was then granted an interview and by the end of the interview, the woman who interviewed me told me to watch my email for the over view date. I don't understand what happened in the process but i know i didn't fail. Very upset today.

That makes a grand total of zero sense. So sorry Cappi. I feel this may be my fate as well. I have had family and friends who work on RR and have all stated that corruption/greed/entitlement run rampant and that the people in charge haven't a clue. Somehow, you were probably screwed over for a random reason. There are positions open as of the other day for Station cleaner, engineer, and track worker. Check em out and apply. My boy on the RR tells me if you don't make the cut to harass HR that you'll take any position and sometimes it works. You can always reach out to HR on this but at this point probably wouldn't get a response. Sorry again man!

When did you get the letter?

Also, I had the exact same experience by getting to interviewer, who seemed to like me, and said same thing that she was recommending me to move on to next step amd watch for an email.

  7. No - IronHorse was Lou Gherig's nickname. lol

May 21st is a Sunday, so I'm sure that's not it. Someone said that the 23rd was the test date for April 18th's overview.

I have every definition down pat but I haven't started on the signals - starting to lose faith in the call back. I have to decide by next week whether or not to keep my current job or accept a very nice severance package so the timing is brutal for me.

Lmao, oh...didn't get that reference. Crazy stuff. I got notice from my current job April 5th. They offered severance of a months pay which I took. My last working day is today actually. I'm currently interviewing for 5 different places but I'm with you, losing hope.

  8. Same boat as you Ironhourse! I was at the Feb 23 Openhouse. Haven't seen much on here from 3/8 at all. So hopefully we still have a shot. especially since I have the definitions down. lol - starting the signals this weekend. Keep us posted,...

    Hey Cappi,

How long it take you to get those definitions down pat??
