  1. Would you remember how far back for employment are they asking for? I know some city agencies require all work history, but some only back 5-10yrs. thanks!
  2. Awesome, thanks! At least that will give me some time to plan ahead when the time comes. That’s insane, seems like there’s 2 classes that’s delayed. Adding us on would be 3 if things go right. did you guys use any apps like quizlet? Flashcards+ to help?
  3. I wanted to ask what was the estimated time frame after passing your s&d exam do you get called to the academy, given you pass background, PE and all others in between? I have a newborn at home and wanted to scale out a time frame and get everything i need to together (babysitter, doc appointments, etc.) before things really speed up and go into motion. as for the index card studying, for those that passed the s&d how many did you guys study? per-day/week/hours? I was planning on creating the cards and studying 10 signals, 5 definitions using any downtime i can to review them per-day at work and while traveling to work, with the kid at home ill be lucky to get a glance at it to really drill it in my head. cheers.
  4. Finally! Got the email for S&D overview, Hillside for Nov 9th 8:00am sharp. is it recommended to drive or take the LIRR to Hillside? I’m not too familiar with the area. Also, is there an expected timeframe well be in the facility? I work mid-evening, wanted to know if I need to schedule time off or I can wing it through. tia.
  5. Man, I thank you for that. It was bothering the hell out of me.
  6. Thank you, Awesome, I’ll keep an eye out. Hopefully I’ll get the email for next months overview.
  7. Just a quick Q, who sends the s&d overview emails btw? Just wanted to make sure I don’t delete it accidentally. And if you don’t make the cut do they send you an email telling you?
  8. I believe I may have fumbled some words one one of the questions but other than that I believe I was solid. Same here with the interviewer, She went through a bunch of generic questions marking down keywords I was using. Hopefully things went well, no email for me for s&d.
  9. Anyone know the criteria of who they choose for the S&D overview? Is it based on the overall test grading and interview portion? Or just the interview?
  10. 111* to 115* about 30-40 bumped. hopefully the waits not too crazy, you would think they'll send you a new card with your list number or notify the applicants of the error with the corrected test score.
  11. I think you may have overthought the test, it was not meant for us to complete. She kept reiterating it’s for speed and accuracy and don’t worry about completing it but of course you can’t just do 2 questions and say you’re done. I did not complete any areas of the test besides the last math which was mandatory. Everything else I would say I completed 30% of each section (7-8 questions). I think they just wanted to see how well we can place things in order under time, and pressure but accurately. what was the 32$ for?
  12. Same here! Congrats to those who got past the exams today. I asked the interviewer when the expected date was for classes for our group if we pass the s&d and they said it’s definitely for the 2019 classes (no exact time) so don’t expect to make it to the remaining 2018 classes being held for those ahead of us.
  13. FYI to those looking for parking, stay away from the one right next to the LIRR you’ll wait forever and may not even find a spot, park by the baseball/football field like 3 blocks away. There were roughly 60-70 spots open for public parking, use the numbered parking ONLY which is the area away from the field. You pay towards the front of the field which is 25 cent per hour unlimited time. I just put 3$ for the hell of it good luck to all later today.
  14. For those who drove to Babylon for the open house, how was the parking around the municipals? I’m reading mixed reviews where some say it’s impossible as some say it’s fine if you park further and not right by the station. TIA.
  15. I’m in the low 111x and tbh I think we might get called either mid year or late. Based on that test they incorrectly marked might push us up or back a few. Theyll have to correct the scores and pretty much resend to everyone which may bump you up or down the list before the list is established. I’m wondering how they will work this out as the scores were already sent out. Will they just fill them in as priorities or delay them depending on if they got the question right/wrong. I have the LIRR assistant conductor open house next week. Going to see how that works to see if I want the A/C or T/O, If the time comes.
  16. Wanted to ask in this area, for those who applied for multiple positions in the MTA or know someone in other fields. I got called to an open house for conductor assistant for the LIRR this month. Would you consider the position better than 7604’s operator position? We all know the pay for LIRR is higher but the overall job security and longevity is what I’m aiming for since i have a family where I’m financially responsible to provide for. I just wanted folks .02 to see what you guys would do since I’ve had no experience in the transit/lirr field. My list number for 7604 is 11xx so I prob won’t get called until late next year seeing how slow it’s gotten. Folks I’ve asked said people leave transit to join LIRR? Wanted to see how true that statement was. From what I’ve gathered being with LIRR as assistant, you have a mandatory promotion where you have to pass an exam to move onto a conductor and lose the “assistant” title after 2/3 yrs no questions asked you must pass or you’re out. Pay tops off at $41.xx after 8th 365 days served and of course there will be OT and job selection perks when you gain some seniority.
  17. If anything try emailing Michelle if she was your HR rep. On my email they clearly stated ( in bold, red in color, underlined and everything) that we will be asked to leave immediately and won’t be able to take the test if we do not have a copy of our drivers license front & back. thanks everyone for the input 👍🏻, submitted my RSVP to my HR rep for the open house.
  18. wow, same here. just received the email today at 11:35am for the open house in Babylon. i am actually in the waiting line for Train Operator exam 7604, i took the A/C a while back and kind of forgot about it until i saw the email today. Can someone explain what a day is like working as an A/C? pro's and cons? I'm on the fence if i should take the A/C since i have a good list # possibly called by early next year/mid for T/O. would anyone know if it would be a problem resigning as a probie A/C to switch to T/O? Thanks.
  19. Any news internally about when the list would be established publicly? Or remember what list # they’re up to?
  20. Theyre probably getting ready to release the list publicly, the original letter they sent us with our list #'s did say they're expected to release it by end of this month. highest to receive a notice from mta for screenings - #700's highest in class - #430's? schoolcar classes held for 2018 - 2 ?
  21. Exam is not established (publicly) yet, internally they are already moving along. If you call DCAS and they cant find the list # to your social its not publicly listed (212) 669-1357.
  22. No, I don’t think anyone in the 800-1000’s received anything yet as from seeing folks list #’s on this thread.
  23. Same here, 93 scored. List # 11xx I do have a high last 4 social.
  24. I think it’s hard to determine at this point, especially knowing that the list is not established yet. Once the first class off the list goes in I guess we can gauge it better knowing how many mta process to fill each class and how often they hold a class in a year. As of now it seems it takes 300 to process 1 class give and take then deferred and DQ’s. 11xx
  25. 49* or 499*?? That’s a big gap, if it’s 49* expect it by next year based on the amount of folks theyr calling. if it’s 499* a couple of years depending on their needs, but I wouldn’t bank on it unless something comes in the mail. Reason I say this is based on deferrals and dq’s Could play a big part of how the numbers move along these next few years.
