While waiting for the train right now these teenagers jumped another teenager on the Manhattan bound platform, they was stomping on his head which is dangerous. The poor kid was dazed and incoherent after they was finished.
Crazy that this type of stuff happens in a station with a police station in it.
teens in generation Z are just ruthless nowadays. Can't believe that happened on the platform

It’s wishful thinking

Just saw 5490 and 6120 buses from Quill in Rockaway as training buses. Wish I got a better pic of the LFSA, it went by fast. pretty cool.

This evening at Rockaway Parkway some dude jumped down to the roadbed to take a leak. People are walking by like nothing's happening while this dude is on tracks relieving himself. He was there for a few minutes and once he was finished he climbed back onto the platform.
First time I seen someone jump onto the actual tracks to take a leak. There was no delay in service.
a few minutes? damn
well if the subway wasn't already a toilet bowl... no way of denying it now i guess.
As stupid as this is, I'd actually be horrified if this was done at an elevated stop.

What I will say is that the location of the Far Rockaway station sucks, it should have been closer to Mott Avenue, but there's nothing much that can be done there at this point.
Yeah the location isn't ideal in the slightest. They might've been able to shift it closer to Mott a few years ago (when the area was basically a desolate parking lot) but that time is gone, the apartments are going up fast. Far Rockaway line has always been aimed at the Long Island crowd and that likely won't change.

The election was stolen by a landside.
No it was not. Biden won the 2020 election by more than 7,000,000 votes, an amount somewhat comparable to the population of New York City. Unlike 2000 or even 2016, This was not a close election, or one that Trump could've easily disputed (which is why he got angry about it). No fraud occurred, and none could've added up to a Trump loss. Biden decisively won the Presidency by both the electoral vote (which decides the Presidency) and popular vote, fair and square.
What you said, is blatant misinformation.
2 hours ago, Joel Powers said:Biden is the most unpopular "President" in the history of this name.
More exaggerations, people like James Buchanan generally hold the title of worst President.
In terms of approval rating, several Presidents have had lower approval ratings than Biden at some point (including both Bush's, Reagan, and Clinton)
In any case, it's too early to judge where exactly his performance stands relative to other Presidents as a whole, especially in divided modern politics. Most historians hold off on ranking Presidents (or roasting them-in your case) until they leave office.

Heard about this from one of my classmates who commuted out of Brooklyn today. I was also commuting when this incident occurred. This is extremely scary news to hear.
I really hope everyone gets home safe today.

It does. It appears that they tried to detonate smoke grenades before starting their attack. Unbelievable...

Yeah, not a lot of people are happy with Biden right now. As for impeachment though, probably not happening...

The R179’s MBDF went up 100%? I find that extremely hard to believe.
The R179's basically went from being the system's "lemons", one so bad many thought it would be scrapped, to being decently reliable NTT trains. The difference in performance between those two was bound to cause that 100% change.

Yeah, specialized schools/CUNY's are the king of long commutes, hands down. I know many people who commute far to get to these schools and it's a sacrifice they are willing to take. Reminds me of this story from my area.

This didn't happen, they terminated at Cornaga today (and turned back onto Beach 20th). Not entirely a surprise, since there's still plenty of construction going on near Beach 21st.

What they will end up with on their hands eventually is a hanging sack of steel.
They are very good at catching snow as well. I mean, that's gotta put more pressure on the el to hold it up.

I hope the MTA enjoy my $75, because they are lucky they caught someone who produced an ID and was compliant with the NYPD, while people continue to smoke on the subway
On just about every ride I make these days, there's at least 1 person using end doors to go between the cars. Seems like they spotted you at the wrong moment which sucks. I would've definitely pointed out the smoker in the other car, even if I had to take the fine.
Personally I don't bother with the end doors if I want to switch cars, I switch at stations. Helped me avoid other nusiances like the "SHOWTIME!"ers as well.

Ouch, but $325 Million just to add nets under elevated tracks???? Why so expensive
easier to do than replacing/fixing the el's, i'm afraid.

I can't encourage this. Dealing with the unfolded strollers on trains is an absolute nightmare, makes it harder to get on and off crowded trains, at least when I dealt with it on the ... Can't imagine how bad it would be on buses.
Avissar's arguments don't make much sense to me, like the hypothetical of a baby being in a bus in a near-collision. At that point, the stroller is a huge hazard to others (and the baby) and not actually the mother.
Transit was never designed for mass transport of babies. Honestly I don't know how else to say it.

Lingering in the subway for more then an hour? What about those of us that railfan the subway?
By "lingering", they probably mean homeless that are resting/staying at a certain station for a long time, probably with the stuff they are carrying. These aren't the types with compact gear, that stand up to film trains (railfanners).
Personally I tend not to stay at a specific station platform for more than an hour even when I'm railfanning. One exception I can think of is retirement runs (like the R32 final run) but that explains itself.

B44(local/SBS), to be quite honest, I can't explain why.
Admittedly I don't use buses that often, especially nowadays where I don't need them.
Q35 is a very close second. Very fast with nice scenery, also pretty useful when I need it.
Other routes near me (like the Q53) are nice too, except for the Q22. If reliability/bunching wasn't beyond abysmal on that route, maybe I'd consider it here.

From what I heard, no. Seems they'll operate it next week if they can get everything in order.

Given the extremely high subsidies and accusations of bias in areas served, I was just wondering if the City would try to force MTA to take it over.
Given the MTA's lovely management of funds, I'm sure that'd be great for the ferry. /s

Any updates on the Coney Island ferry? Heard it was delayed again.

Has anyone noticed how dirty and filthy the exterior of R179s have been as of recent? Like the A/C have been looking horrific as of late and I'm not sure if that's because of Pitkin's or 207th st doing but I'm not sure when or how they will clean them up.
Yep, the sets don't look good for their age, especially the exterior. 3020-3024 was particularly bad since it had some disgusting black streaks on it, ran across the windows and everything. Cleaniness in general isn't exactly Pitkin's strongsuit, but thankfully most of it I'm seeing is cosmetic, so hopefully they get cleaned off.
