  1. Your train is pretty much the train going to Coney Island, and I'm not sure if both and trains can go through the Montague Tunnel at all times. That's just a capacity issue, you would be seeing much less service to either Sea Beach or Bay Ridge. The elimination of the without a proper replacement is disastrous because you'd have only trains on CPW. (You also can't raise the amount of trains because it'll share the same tracks with and service from 50th to Jay St. Nobody cares about which is IND or BMT or IRT anymore. They're old companies. I'm sure that customers don't care about lettering/nomenclature more than getting to their destination the best way possible.
  2. Yes and No, the is generally the least crowded line going into 96 St, thus passengers go into there. The going to Nostrand doesn't change that status, it'll still be useful even if i goes to Nostrand. I don't even think it's possible to have double the amount of trains because of the fact that it shares a track with the line. (And the Lenox Shuttle?) so you're not even doing anything effective by eliminating the entirely because you can't double the amount of trains..
  3. It really comes down to the terminal, it was suggested that the entire line would be made pretty useless and to replace it with 2 times as many trains. Also the train wouldn't be useless if it is providing the local service to Brighton (pause, how do the train even turn?? local express on Brighton. would be better). It's definitely not useless though. The local service along 8th Av is so valuable, along with the need for a Peak Direction , and local service to serve those stations. The and trains are not useless and are important to how their respective lines run.
  4. Routes WOULD change, but Broadway and 6th are in direct proximity of each other. Canal/Grand, Prince/Lafayette, NYU/West 4th 34th St Hearld Square Times Square/Bryant Park Rockefeller Center or 7th Av/49th St Columbus Circle/57 St. All of those stops are close to each other, and if they can take the they can take the .
  5. the wouldn't be useless though, it'll have less passengers on the train and would be a relief train for the , otherwise there would be a lot of over crowding. There's also the alternative of to Brighton, to Coney Island via Brighton, to Coney Island via West End and to Coney Island via Sea Beach. While that leaves no 6 Av service on DeKalb meaning that there is no service but since 6th Av and Broadway are close in proximity it's not that much of a problem. This forces trains to run full time since Sea Beach needs that service, but there can be service down the line as well.
  6. You could just tie it in with having an corridor on 10th Av. you'll leave 9th Av open, but 50th, 14th and 42 Sts will tie that in.
  7. Depends on where you want it to go, and i'm not even sure if this can happen legally.
  8. (I changed the local stations to stars) The isn't particularly need. It's kinda like having a express service on the train. (though that's if the and ever share the same trackage.) the misses a lot of important stops since Grand St, 1 Ave, Jefferson and DeKalb are all local stops with good service. I'm also not sure how you're going to build this or why this needs to be built. The is 37 minutes from Canarsie to 8 Av. (As someone who takes the line from 1 Av to Broadway Junction, the 7:21-22a train departing from 1 Av gets me to Broadway Junction at around 7:47. It's not a long trip at all, and doesn't need express service. For your second half.. the same thing. It'd have to run the same frequencies as the train. Having skip stop service while the is running on the same track? Not a good idea. The also doesn't even go to Broadway Junction, and only gets to the last quarter of stops. If anyone needs to go to Jamaica Center, they can take the skip stop and get there fast. The real issue is the stations from Jamaica Center to Myrtle that get half frequencies
  9. Thinking about it more, the won't serve that much of the line and won't bring too many benefits by extending it. I think that the train can run on Northern and serve LGA. If this were to happen, you'd have to extend the and cut the at Whitehall.
  10. There's also the fact that on 10th Av, there's no other train there. If you put it on 11th Av, you'll build under the train. You also can't extend the that far past 34 St (Note the only extends to 25 St, which heavily limits the station. If you have the terminate at 42 - 10th Av, it's less building and still does the same job. Connecting to the and has provisions. It's so much better than the terminal at Hudson Yards.
  11. I'd perfer that it run to 42 - 10 Av (with a transfer.) I'm sure that it'll be hard to build under the so ending the line at 42 - 10th Av would be easier. You should also remove 100-102, 83-85, and 62 Sts to space out local stops. (though with the express service it's whatever. There should also be provisions for LGA service.
  12. Express service, I'm not sure if the express service should be the or a separate service. Maybe the can be divided into and , runs local to 42 - 10th Av. And the runs express to 72 - Amsterdam Av.
  13. I'll add on to this list: Myrtle/DeKalb Avenues , but specifically during Rush Hours when some trains terminate at Myrtle, and they're closer together in Rush Hours. Dang, how did I miss out on the train when I take the entire route to school... Been a while. Though from 8 Av to Rockaway Parkway it's only ~37 minutes. Actually, add the entire route from 149 - Franklin Av bar 138 - Grand Concourse, 86 St, Nevins, and Borough Hall.
  14. I think that in (and areas immediately surrounding) Manhattan, it's more about express stops serving an important destination (Yankee Stadium*, 125 St, 59 St, 42, 34, 14, City Hall/Chambers, Fulton St/World Trade and South Ferry) because Passengers from Queens, Bronx and Brooklyn want to get to those important destinations. However, inside of those boroughs it's about getting to Manhattan the fastest, and getting to transfers the fastest. (It's why peek-direction trains are always to Manhattan in the morning since that's where a lot of people work, Down/Midtown Manhattan, Downtown Queens, and Downtown Brooklyn). In Engineerboy's examples, I would even skip 163 St and just go from Tremont to 149 Sts, though I understand why you choose 161-163 Sts. For 3 Av, the should go to Gun Hill - White Plains Roads (Instead of using Norwood as the express stop, use the stop as the express stop and extend to Co-Op City.) In general, the goal in the outer boroughs is to get to Manhattan as fast as possible, hitting the most important stops, like Engineerboy says.
  15. Most stations with Overcrowding, probably have higher dwell times. Broadway Junction platforms, Times Square - 42 St , Times Square , Myrtle (Also Central/Kosciuszko), I could say DeKalb, but all the issues happen on the bridge, and not prior to it (though dwell times are bad also). Fulton St in general, but specifically the . 59th St , 50th St . PABT . Some of them due to track crossings to. If you want actual data, look at the times they go into the station, and out of the station along the route. i.e. the stretch of Myrtle to Broadway Junction.
  16. I think they meant in general, you'll have to build the Northern Line below the and because the and run along Northern.
  17. Are they still doing the Triboro line? The intersection would be at 63 St/BQE. I think splitting the line (half 72-Amsterdam, half 42-10th Av.) would be better (doing the 72-Amsterdam first, and 10th Av second, combining that with the on 10th Av, having some trains short turn at 8th - 14 St with a middle track between 10th and 8th.
  18. The isn't as necessary as putting a Manhattan line on there. A real purpose for that is to have a train that connects LaGuardia [It could be the and branch off at Junction Blvd], and a train that relieves the and goes to Midtown [The on 50th Street would be a good choice]. the can go on the route Weekdays and Weekends only as the express, while the other crosstown train can go on 21 St (or use a connection to the 50th St tunnel to go to 72 St - Broadway.)
  19. why not just put a train stop on Broadway, that way you'll get Rockefeller, Broadway and 7th Aves. There doesn't need to be a transfer because Times Square already provides that transfer between all trains. But when 50th comes around it'll be worth the investment for alleviation.
  20. I don't think that the extension should be for the it'll make any train too long. It's just the stations for the entire line. Personally I think it should go *up* to 72 St, but it might need that connection to the . (Could be a split route thing, and send the to 72 along with 50% of trains to 72, and the other half to the .)
  21. Benefits? Sure, but it's better that it's self contained and separate from the B-Division. It's just not a good idea because you'd have to make all the tunnels wider, widen the platforms, it'll be a mess and is like very low and not even necessary.
  22. Why not turn the right BEFORE Astoria Blvd, then the can go through a portal and along the same route you have. I think another alternative would be the SAS going there via Northern or removing the from QBL and moving to Northern that way you'll have the to Flushing via Northern, and / SAS to LaGuardia via Northern.
  23. Yeah that's what I meant, sorry if it wasn't clear. Franklin should be the ONLY single tracked protion.
  24. I really meant for just the terminal, and to have a double track from Botanical Garden to Franklin*
