  1. Wayne assigned bus fleet number sequence of year 6 will be fragmented. I am not sure what caused it but allotments (52) for Wayne stays the same
  2. The alternate procurement strategy plans for Oradell bus fleet replacement is still pending. one option is to setup a temporary remote operation post at one of the park and rides to house the 45 footers. That’s is my take on that. Stay tuned
  3. Side note: the Pembina plant is on the chopping block come next year, currently Winnipeg Canada and Crookston, Minnesota plants are being heavily invested to co-build NFI products along side MCI next gen D series. Next 12 months will be interesting on how it affects NJT future bus orders after 2022. Meanwhile NFI will keep Pemibina plant operating just for NJT to complete the “Legacy” D series year 6 order.
  4. NJT is not moving forward to next phase of project design and development until the legal proceedings are done. Capital planning won’t announce to the board until the legal proceedings are complete. The latest update in the legal proceedings is Ridegefied Park motion to file an appeal has been denied on April 16th 2021. A motion to proceed to complete the real estate closing was submitted on April 28th by NJT called a 5 day order to withdraw funds for the owners of the land. NJT is awaiting an court date on its ruling of this order. Once this is granted, the deal is complete and NJT become new owners of the land. Yes legal hearings are slow but it’s clear NJT has been granted eminent domain rights.
  5. Got this from the bus fleet strategy page 47 of 48. It is obvious during the board meeting on April 14th no one asked the question to who are receiving these buses. There is an alternate procurement strategy at play now but no one has officially said anything. All I know is the 290 (118+172) remaining cruisers completes the 1 to 1 cruiser replacement of grand total of 1394
  6. Referencing the bus fleet strategy https://d2g63oyneaimm8.cloudfront.net/sites/default/files/pdfs/njt_bus_fleet2014.pdf The primary focus of this Bus Fleet Strategy is the upcoming replacement of the cruiser bus fleet (both 40-foot and 45-foot cruisers). Newly purchased cruisers should be 45-feet in length (57 seats) in all cases except where physical garage characteristics prevent these buses from being used. Currently, these physical limitations apply to the Fairview, Market Street, and Oradell Garages. [Note: a new analysis is underway to reevaluate these locations under current conditions to determine if 45-foot cruisers can, in fact, be assigned these garages. The results of this evaluation may change the final mix of 40 & 45-foot cruisers in the bus procurement but will not change the total number of cruisers to be purchased. ————————————— the last of year 6 recently approved order of model year 2022 118 45ft cruisers is for garages (30) Fairview, (51)Market st, and (37) Oradell the anticipated remaining 172 is for Oradell and the specs for this RFP has not been finalized yet. TBD anyone guess what the “alternate procurement” will be knowing these garages are at capacity?
  7. 172 will be a RFP spec for 40 foot cruisers. by time 2022 rolls around it may be the 2023 D40 CRT model year to go to garages that can handle only 40 footers like Oradell. The reason they did not disclose the specs for 172 is because it may change. But I say it will be a bid for 40 foot cruisers. The 118 cruisers will be interesting to see where these will go to what garages Concurrently, the Ridgefield Park bus depot project remains in legal battle between NJT and village of Ridgefield Park.
  8. Or maybe a point the 45 footers order are to replace the remaining 40 footers. NJT management seems to present their requests to the board in minimalist fashion. I find it astonishing not one of the board members ever asks details whenever bus management puts out orders like this.
  9. The current original allotments for Oradell Bus garage is 209 40 footers. Currently Oradell bus depot is receiving left over 2001-2003 D4000 from other bus depots while concurrently retiring the worst of the worst D4000. The change to request 118 buses 45 foot MCI will be NJT Paint only. I cant confirm where the final procurement will be. It can range from Fairview, Market St, and Oradell in perhaps in limited quantities due to garage limitations. Management is exercising their "alternative procurement strategy", but I just don't know what that is at the moment since the published material is not made public.
  10. 118 plus pending 172 end of year “advertising of buses” , than yes it completes the entire cruiser replacement fleet years 2000-2008
  11. We shall see what specs NJT management decides by end of this year for the “anticipated advertising of 172 buses” These will be for direct replacement for Oradell bus depot allotments. Could be 45 or 40 foot cruiser specs. We shall see if anything is said at the April 14th board meeting.
  12. Yes that is correct. those are 2006 and 2007 model year well over the 12 year age mark requirement.
  13. Remaining Bus cruiser replacements D4500CT for year 5 (334) 21xxxx and year 6 (33) 22xxx ( 367 Total combined ) 22001 -21028 Ironbound 28 buses 21029-21073 Howell 44 buses 21074-21190 Meadowlands 116 buses 21191-21243 Wayne Garage 52 buses 240 total buses with NJT paint Private Carrier: Remaining 127 buses will be allocated to the private carriers below. This completes the 1104 bus contract for the D4500CT by 1st quarter of 2022 Rockland Coach Suburban Trails Academy Lines Next phase is a separate contract spec for 290 cruisers sometime in mid 2021 and a final determination by 2022. It is likely NJT will receive the new next gen MCI D45 CRT aka VIN 1M8X that replaces the D4500CT 1M8P This particular variant is not in production by MCI just yet. This contract is meant to replace the fleet for Oradell, Fairview, Market St (290). None of these garages have the capacity to handle 45’s Goal is to merge the cruisers to the new northern bus garage project in Ridgefield Park NJ which recently received court approval Nov 16, 2020 to proceed to legally acquire the land.
  14. Following is the timeline for the Northern Bus depot development: 1/2020 NJ transit has located 4 parcels of land, 56 acres combined in the village of Ridgefield Park NJ 3/2020 NJT board meeting, bus division received authorization and funds to proceed under eminent domain rights to acquire land in Ridgefield Park for the new northern bus depot 7/31/2020 NJ Transit filed a condemnation (eminent domain) case in the Bergen county court house. Civil case # L 4475 20 Case was deemed a friendly condemnation between NJ Transit and land owner UBS LLC It received opposition from the village of Ridgefield Park NJ claiming it is unjust among other claims. 11/16/2020 The court has granted NJ Transit full eminent domain rights to acquire the said land from UBS. NJ transit are one their way to become official owners of 56 acres of land in village of Ridgefield Park under supervision of superior court of Bergen county. We should hear an official update at the December 9th 2020 NJT board meeting on the next action item regarding the bus depot.
  15. All the good active remaining fleet wide D4000 are being transferred to Oradell bus garage. At same time, they are retiring the worse batch of D4000 at Oradell. Furthermore, the 1104 allotment of cruiser contract does not cover the Oradell cruisers. This separate contract will be published for bid once NJT has cleared the ongoing legal hurdle with the 56 plus acre of land in ridge field park. As of now the court’s legal decision will be made on the “papers” Nov 13 2020 at the bergen county court house. Stay tuned
  16. Appears they will meet the 184 buses for year 4 of 6 before mid August summer recess. Year 5 of the 6 will be biggest year in volume delivery, 334 MCI D4500CT buses commencing in mid September 2020 - July 2021 as 2021 model year bringing it to a total of 1070 buses.
  17. Simple answer for D4000CT, no. There is a separate bid for 290 40ft buses That is on hold and may be void if they can succeed to buy the land in Ridgefield Park NJ using eminent domain powers for the New Northern bus garage meant to replace Oradell and relief Market St. NJT wants 45 FT cruisers across the board for the interstate lines If it fails; NJT is forced to order 40ft buses for Oradell and Market st
  18. During Jan’s 2019 board; bus division have received authorization for 85 articulated bus xd60 NFI and have said the first batch should be on the road by fourth quarter of 2019. Has anyone heard in the latest talk on when the 290 40 foot cruiser order will be placed ?

  20. Rockland coach out of Westwood NJ garage are receiving 94 buses from the year 3 batch starting with 19001
  21. This topic is about creating a efficient Bus Ticketing System that is currently fragmented and poorly executed throughout the entire NJT Bus operations. I am foremost a bus transit fan, former commuter and now a bus operator for NJ transit. I am here to share my input on the current bus fare collection system that needs attention both from the public, bus operators and leaders of NJT and union. I am aware NJT board recently selected a contractor to modernize the fare collection system without full detail on the design and execution. Currently the NJ app is unintuitive and has a feel it was created back in year 2000. It is subject to fraudulent use due to the fact bus operators are forced to use only visual validation. This creates potential customer service issues and backlogs when boarding passengers. The current fare registers from Parkeon do not support "tap and go" technology. A big part of how to improve transportation efficiency is improving transit ticketing systems. Ticketing systems have to be quick and practical to allow for prompt loading and unloading of passengers. “Tap and go” is the new mantra for bus fares. Not: sign in app, wait and guess Please share your thoughts
  22. Bus 18107-18114 are assigned to Meadowlands garage (equipped with lavatory)
