Same thing happened this evening why are they running express trains where there are 15+ minutes gaps in local service. Shouldn’t local service be prioritized instead of having constant express service and screwing local riders over when there is a gap? Me and a few riders ended up taking the to 61st to the back to Manhattan since that would be quicker than waiting for the .

Happened to me a lot on the . I remember one time I took the to Manhattan I got the same train-set on the way back to Queens. Didn’t sit in the same car though.

That feeling of relief of just catching the train cause the next one was over 15 minutes away for some reason. It was 10 in the morning. Looking at queensboro plaza, there was a in 7 minutes followed by the next in 15 so I’m not sure why the didn’t run local given the large gap in local service. Also on an unrelated note this is the 2nd day in a row catching the same r46 on the (5598).

Tbh I wish Citi Bike would expand to transit deserts such as eastern queens, the rockaways and other parts of the outer boughs far from the subway. It would help solve the last mile problem that people have in those areas.

Anyone know the ridership of the SI ferry route during the day. On the 9:05 PM ferry from SI and other then me, there is only one more passenger who got off at the WFC. So I’m the only passenger on board.

It’s one of those rules that isn’t enforced by anyone. Many people and transit workers don’t wear masks and no one seems to care. Even the NYPD doesn’t care. IMO the no masks are starting to become like how fare envision is handled, workers (especially bus drivers) don’t want to try to enforce the mask policy since they don’t want to risk getting assaulted by someone over a mask, same goes for the fare. Crazy people out here.

Just took the for the first time in almost a year and those r44s just sound like the Amfleets when they’re breaking, with the loud squeaking noise when the train stops. Also the loud squeaky noises when the train is on a curve. Ouch to my ears!

The cancelled a huge chunk of local trains on the this morning and they are not even making the expresses run local. (According to Subway-time) Expect 60+ minute gaps in local service.

Does anyone know what the official headway is for the to Whitehall street is? Doesn’t say that the is running reduced service but according to the gtfs schedules on Google maps and the My MTA app, the is running on a 15 minute headway instead of the normal 12 minutes.

Just wondering why does the still use rollsigns to display the run numbers instead of digital displays? Most transit agencies use digital signs to display run numbers however the only uses those on the newer provost models.

Just saw that. It’s going to be a living hell for western queens transit users on weekends next year. Hopefully the makes better plans than just shuttle buses like increased LIRR service at woodside and other western queens stations (especially the PW branch). q32 service (including overnight) etc… Probably going to be just as impactful (if not more) than the train shutdown a few years ago. Hopefully the Sunnyside LIRR station and ESA is completed by then since that can take off the load.

My fyp is full of these subway surfer videos. I feel like it's starting to become some sort of trend to ride on the back/on top of trains, break into the train cabs, change rollsigns on moving trains, etc... (not a good one). It's even expanding to other transit systems in the area. I remember seeing a video of someone surfing an NJT train on the Northeast Corridor.

Agreed, remember earlier this year when the was suspended for pandemic related shortages. They kept the running express in Manhattan and service was piss-poor, especially due to the pandemic related shortages. Unless reliability and/or frequency is improved on the there has to be another local service on Broadway.

Just wondering, why do trains stot at 49th street while trains - save late nights - skip the stop. I thought it had to do with terminating the at 57th street but now that the goes to 96th, why doesn’t the skip the stop when it goes express?

IIRC The and , which run local along their entire Manhattan trunk line at night are scheduled so that service on 10-minute headways with each route alternating. I don’t think it’s the same for other boroughs though and times between trains are more random.
