  1. Heads up future TOs, there's another class happening November 28th so be on the lookout for those emails!
  2. I promise you the Road Practical will be the easiest thing out of everything you did in school car. The Supt are really cool and want to see you pass, it will be 5 stops, which will include 1 overrun, 1 short stop and 1 bypass. Just remember what school car taught you on how to resolve these issues and you're golden. If anything the yard practical is the hardest due to all the things you have to remember and combine all in one shot. Considering you're already posting you're already done and will be out soon.
  3. Lol I regret picking XL North. Wanted it for the J, L, M lines but guess who's getting sent to Far Rockaway almost everyday.
  4. The issue with that is we need to relay the trains at Board St. We need to clear the train of everybody which takes some time since the TO does the relay solo. If trains were running every 5 mins I could just imagine the delays this would cause lol. They would need to have a switch man at board st (TO at the opposite end to bring the train in the station) or have cops to clear people out, but god knows why they don't. Sometimes they do have switchmen but there's been many times during rush hour where they haven't.
  5. I don't see them getting rid of Skip-Stop anytime soon with the new repairs done going into Jamaica, it's a huge opportunity for passengers to get to the Air-train on time. COVID is slowly depleting which means more tourism, especially for the holiday season. I personally would never take the train to the airport but lately I've been seeing a lot of it.
  6. I would aim for 100, remember we got lucky to be hired off of the conductor list due to COVID and the list getting extended. I'm sure new exams will be a lot more harder to get in unless we get hit with another pandemic lol.
  7. The Civil Service List says this test will expire 9/19, but as Beanz mentioned it might get extended. Although I wouldn't mind a promotional T/O exam being posted along the way.
  8. Medical is first come first serve, so if you want to be the first one seen and first one out I would get there very early.
  9. Well you got a date and time which is good so just show up and if they say anything you got the name and number.
  10. The Union Hall should have given you a QR code where you're able to download the list of the CRC, you can PM so I can send it to you
  11. It was mentioned before that there is a freeze on track worker hiring now.
  12. Lol it's definitely in regards to making announcements when on the train, need to be careful what you say.
  13. Definitely want to apologize for your lost, I know it's tough. This is a tough situation cause this opportunity is hard to get and god knows when you'll be able to come back if you defer. If I were you accept the offer and be subject to what school car tells you to do. Best case is they give you the time you need and you'll just need to make up the 5 days you missed in the back half of training. Just be ready to submit any proof of the funeral, death, etc.
  14. Yeah that list number for C/R is very high, might not get a call. But definitely take the cleaner position, it's a foot in the door and there's a promotional conductor exam coming this year as well!
  15. You can use it in the crew room, but if you use it while in service and get caught good luck lol.
  16. There’s already a promotional exam coming out this fall for Conductor
  17. It happened with me where I took a trip to Colombia and got called for Medical while I was out there. I took a flight back to NY just to do and went back to vacation. This is a huge opportunity you should not miss. If you don’t have the luxury to get a flight back as soon as you get called, I would just hold out on the trip. On the other hand, usually when you get the email for medical, it’s for you to come in the week after so it’s gamble either way.
  18. Yeah I was the only conductor in my class to win something a week out of school car because I was going for XL. Some sweet jobs are almost impossible to get with our seniority. But XL can be good cause I was able to pick the North which is way closer to my home. Starting off, the best thing to do is try to make your commute as easy as possible!
  19. If you guys have additional questions, I posted the conductor school car experience in the "The School Car Experience" Forum. You can always reach out to me via PM as well!
  20. Conductor classes are only PMs, there are some rare days you start in the AM (For Some Test and posting). Other then that, it’s 3-11pm until it’s done.
  21. Absolutely, that's why I always make sure to talk to my TO before the trip and get to know them. Even though I'm XX and probably won't see them again, I want to make sure I build a good rapport with everybody. Communication is key down here!
