  1. Then is there a planned replacement for the older R62/As?
  2. Does anyone think the R68/a will get CBTC? They are not as old as the other SMEEs and I have not heard about them getting replaced soon.
  3. The R211's are going to have operator-facing cameras and cab audio recording. Source: here, PDF WARNING. What do you all think about this.
  4. Are the front rollsigns on the R46 still manually changed? And does anyone know how the electronic destination signs are set/changed on the R46?
  5. Speaking of the R142a, I found this last week: R142a Contract
  6. I was referring to this future upgrade of all the R142's and R142A's. Would having the FINDs on the R142/a and R143 not be useful during reroutes / general orders?
  7. Is there any news the R142/a upgrade and is it still happening? Also, will the R143, R142, and R142a ever receive FIND displays?
  8. Too bad they wont be around for much longer, as MARTA is replace all their trains. I have also noticed that the propulsion on the MTR "A" trains (Adtranz–CAF EMU) sounds like a low pitch version of the R142A/188 and R143 propulsion. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Xr8WH38-N4 (Sorry I can't find a video with better audio.)
  9. No. I just thought it was cool that the same propulsion can be found on a totally different system. I was not sure if it belonged there or in its own thread. Sorry, I am still new to the forum
  10. So I was watching videos of various Indian metro systems when I came across this video of the Chennai Metro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRt08SBJgYo The Alstom Optonix propulsion is exactly the same! And the kicker is these trains started construction in 2010 and entered service back in 2014. For reference here is a video of the r211: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4y_sCEJ9IA I cant be the only person that has noticed this?
  11. I was still wondering if there was a documented occurrence of only friction brakes on the whole train. I heard the braking system is designed to be able to operate with just air brakes if needed. Thanks for the detailed answer and the video still.
  12. Are there any online videos of a single car "without traction"? (I assume you mean the car has broken motors)
  13. (Sorry if I made a mistake as this is my first real post.) Is it possible for any NTT to only run with air/friction brakes and no dynamic brakes? And are there any videos of it?
  14. Hello Everybody, I am likely the only Houstonian on this forum. I have been interested in the NYC Subway for years and have read posts here before. I hope you enjoy my new presence.
