I was referring to this future upgrade of all the R142's and R142A's.
Would having the FINDs on the R142/a and R143 not be useful during reroutes / general orders?
Too bad they wont be around for much longer, as MARTA is replace all their trains.
I have also noticed that the propulsion on the MTR "A" trains (Adtranz–CAF EMU) sounds like a low pitch version of the R142A/188 and R143 propulsion.
Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Xr8WH38-N4 (Sorry I can't find a video with better audio.)
No. I just thought it was cool that the same propulsion can be found on a totally different system.
I was not sure if it belonged there or in its own thread. Sorry, I am still new to the forum
So I was watching videos of various Indian metro systems when I came across this video of the Chennai Metro: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LRt08SBJgYo
The Alstom Optonix propulsion is exactly the same! And the kicker is these trains started construction in 2010 and entered service back in 2014.
For reference here is a video of the r211: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4y_sCEJ9IA
I cant be the only person that has noticed this?
I was still wondering if there was a documented occurrence of only friction brakes on the whole train. I heard the braking system is designed to be able to operate with just air brakes if needed.
Thanks for the detailed answer and the video still.
(Sorry if I made a mistake as this is my first real post.)
Is it possible for any NTT to only run with air/friction brakes and no dynamic brakes? And are there any videos of it?
Hello Everybody, I am likely the only Houstonian on this forum. I have been interested in the NYC Subway for years and have read posts here before. I hope you enjoy my new presence.
