  1. Will anyone answer my question about SMEEs on the last page?
  2. Wow its been over half a decade since the R211 was announced and now we are finally getting to ride it.
  3. Yes they will totally replace the rest of the R46s before they literally fall apart (/s just incase)
  4. Are there any other the amount of shoving incidents be reduced? Obviously platform cant be widened and platform screen doors are infeasible. So is more police and increased care for mentally ill the only option?
  5. Someone once said that Redbirds used to drag people to death all the time.
  6. I am pretty sure SMEEs have dynamic brakes it has been stated on this forum and elsewhere, and you can hear the motors when they pull into the station. I think the NTTs were the first to have regeneration, which allowed energy from dynamic brakes to go back into the third rail. I am still my original question.
  7. No stupid questions, but does anyone know how the dynamic brakes on SMEEs work? How is there only one brake handle that controls both air brakes and the dynamic brakes, and how are they blended? As a sidenote, many discussions on this thread probably should go in their own thread or a more relevant existing thread.
  8. Ok so it will be a while, as neither of these will happen soon.
  9. I think this might be a cause of the transfer announcements dropping in pitch randomly. I think the should go further and have the train run 10 car sets like the rest of the A division. Also, when is that division going to get more CBTC?
  10. Although this does save money, based on the documentation I have read about NTTs, all cars basically have the same equipment (like propulsion, third rail shoes, and air compressors) except for the drivers controls and door panels only found on the end cars. My middle solution between cost and flexibility is something like , who has single cars but with simpler hostler controls at both ends of b cars and on the non cab end of a cars.
  11. I have not heard this "demonic announcement" (If someone can give me a recording, that would be nice) as I am not from NYC. I assume it is an issue with the audio file storage because I read somewhere that the NTT announcement storage is too small and many have no space left.
  12. Does anyone here support congestion charges? Also, a bunch of people from this site would love to fill those missing train operator and conductor positions.
  13. What is congestion pricing and how will it affect the subway?
  14. Wow, I never knew that. Also, there used to be ceiling fans in subway trains?
  15. Dang, people are still getting pushed in front of trains?
  16. I take back my opinion, but I wish there was more space to store preserved cars. Also what is the status on the R262?
  17. I think everyone almost forgot about these cars when the R211A test train arrived. Hopefully they are a success, it will be cool to see NYC finally get open gangway cars, a feature seen on worldwide transit systems for decades. (The MTR M-Train was built with them way back in 1977)
  18. Based on the fact the 30 day revenue test has not even started, I don't think there is going to be a need for storing hundreds of R211 car cars anytime soon.
