  1. But there is 0 evidence given that proves these claims are true. They could be 100% false for all we know. Just because the MTA changes their mind or someone here says they did doesnt mean what they said in the first place was true.

The fact of the matter is here we have someone who works I side the MTA passing us Info as it happens. And most of the time the info is legit. Yeah sometimes the info goes another direction. Name one source with 100% accuracy. I'll wait. Till then I suggest chilling out. Why? Well it can only take one person being a troll to give us 0 inside sources. Now you're not a troll, but things are subject to change, right?

So let me ask this, what so important that you had to go this route? Like for years we've been good. We get info, most of it sticks. What makes you so special to change everything?

  2. Okay, but what exactly is the point of posting things if they're subject to change. If they're subject to change, that makes them FALSE!

No. That makes them true untill the MTA changes their mind. They could keep the plan, or change it. Doesn't mean the posts are initially false. Its the latest info given.

  3. Yeah, I meant the propulsion system in particular. To be honest I consider all the components to be computers because essentially they are.

That location would explain why we haven't seen any e-brake testing. Speaking of which, since the 10-car train is still on Brighton, I'm guessing they're using that track in the Rockaways to test the 8-car train?

Which 8-car train? There's two of them. Lol

  4. Is the daytime one still in effect?

LOL they literally just started displaying that GO on the On the Go kiosks within the last hour...

Yup. It wasn't long between ENY's initial post about day 2, and someone posting pics of the service notice online. Tonight and tomorrow. Thursday also I believe.

  5. The R160s were built and delivered quickly, but that doesn't necessarily ensure that the quality will be top notch. The R142s & R142As exemplifies that in my opinion. The ride quality of the R142As is atrocious. The R188s are starting to see the same problems. The R142s overall quality is far more superior than their Kawasaki counterparts, better ride quality, better HVAC and so on.

The R160s are also starting to see the same ride quality problems as the R142As, with the bucking and such. I think it's safe to say that the R142s are probably the best NTTs we have right now.

    (this is just my opinion)

Oh you're points here are completely valid my friend. But given the turmoil that the 179 has gone thru since being built, rejected, built again, etc. All of that, plus all that is happening now, Is not making Bombardier look good. If they turn out to be great cars, then good for us, but how late are these?

  6. I wonder what in hell happened with Bombardier.... Awful... I think the (MTA) should be concerned too. If only Alstom and Bombardier are in the picture, that means less competition and perhaps higher costs going forward for new trains.

In a way this is why I'm hoping CRRC can make quality cars here in the US. Hyundai-Rotem had their hiccup in Philly with the SL-Vs that may make them look a little worrisome to many in regards to if they can meet requirements. To level out the plating field more may help with getting affordable, well-built fleets.

I use to be a huge fan of Bombardier since the arrival of their 62s back in the 80s. Now I see a falling player in a game that is seeing it come down to the final two so to speak

To be fair, it took the R160s a year before they entered service.

I have a feeling that the R179s will enter service faster than the R160s.

Although this is true, did the 160s go thru what the 179s have gone thru prior to arriving onto the property? Gotta look at the whole pic. Yeah the 160s took a year, but how long did they take to be built and delivered?

  7. Another issue with that which most ignore is that there would be another merge at Euclid.

I always bring that up. And the fact that now you'll have Rockaway trains more crowded until Rockaway blvd because of it as well. No one listens. Even if you're from Rockaway and remember when the C use to go to Rockaway. No one listens.

...E. Honda & Goro combined couldn't hand out enough facepalms for the nonsense you three were saying (which definitely didn't stop at the above)....

THIS...is the most epic face palm comment I've ever heard in my 39 years! Sir, I tip my had to you and would ask permission to use this phrase instead of just my usual "yoink!" When wanting to take and use a comment!

I'm now going to continue to laugh out loud at work at this!

  9. Today’s test appeared to have been a success. The train tested on the Coney Island bound express track for most of the afternoon. They operating staff ran the train up and down the track and all seemed to be going well. Hopefully revenue testing can begin anytime within the next 90 days. The train just needs to consistently operate for 50 consecutive miles without any failure of any kind in order to pass. Let’s keep our fingurss crossed. I also have a few videos of today’s testing that I will share as soon as I get a chance to upload.

    A, then C,J,Z

So the EMI is 50 consecutive miles? Didnt know that. Is the revenue still 30 consecutive days?

  10. since there was a debate on extending the (C) to lefferts in the NTT trains and the r46 is there a program for the (C) to lefferts?

I've never seen it in the TOD. And every NTT C I've seen get extended east of Euclid had the train crew resign it as an A

  11. What's up with having three different routes anyway? It's confusing as hell.

Route 3 is for people coming directly off the M or J at Flushing Ave for a ride with less stops to metropolitan ave, and I guess 1 and 2 are separate shuttles for quicker travel btw Broadway, Wyckoff and Metro cause all of these areas can be a traffic nightmare. Plus, less crowds.

One bus is for riders between Metropolitan and local stops to Myrtle Bway except for Fresh Pond. The second is for all stops Fresh Pond to Myrtle Bway (no Metropolitan) and the third as mentioned is express Metropolitan to Flushing with one stop at Jefferson on the L.

  12. I don’t see why it wouldn’t be feasible most things are with the right funds. You’d have to reconstruct the front bonnets of the cars and more than likely and would require some rewiring to connect to the CPU. Funny enough probably easy upgrading a car type like a R62/68 with the glass front. But retrofitting For The Interior LCDs is abit easier they really just sit on the flip side of the route signage and protrudes just a bit. Bit of wiring and a passthru in the voids in the window spaces at the cars end. The current Red LED’s are pretty visible do you think they need to be replaced? What about upgrading The reds for a full color LCD/OLED? The space is already there and wouldn’t require any cutting. Plus R143/R160 classes man that’s quite afew cars.

On the 143 and 160s thats where some cbtc equipment is. So putting an led screen there won't work. Its not empty space

  13.

A mechanical problem occurred at 125th - St Nicholas earlier thus year. It was so bad they could only poke the first (A) car through. They daisy chained several and we were led out to the platform.

The train that was causing trouble? An R143. I'm wondering if that has anything to do with why any car, not just R32s, cannot run in certain areas without causing trouble. :-/

No, I'm positive it was an R142.

I said R143. I meant R142. That was a typo and it's too late for me to edit.

You may know the difference between the New Techs, but your original post says so much different about your story.

125th and St Mich on the A. The stalled train you said was an R143. Now its an R142. In the B division.

I get the point you were originally trying to make. Any rail car can break down. But....... Yeah.

Let me know if you see any R142 or R142A stop at St. Nicholas Ave and 125th St in passenger service.

I would love to see that too.

I think you may mean an R160.

On that note, its not really that certain trains can't run in certain areas causing trouble. That NTT would've broke down anywhere. The issue in Montegue is clearance.

  15. I got a feeling those 4 ten car sets are to eliminate the need for the 32s and that one 68 they run on the A. A good assumption is that they are going to have them on the A for that reason and to keep them basically maintained by the same yards. I also assume that its only at CI since that is a major shop. Gotta have those guys go over the train and learn it.

  16. Does anyone know why the Q111 has two trips to Rockaway Blvd/Peninsula Blvd (one in the morning, one in the afternoon) and then two trips the other way in the afternoon?

Because there's consistent ridership for those trips dating back to the PBL days under Jamaica Buses.

  17. Currently on an R46 (R), looks like they are updating the side signs on those as well. It says

    (R) FOREST HILLS-71

    (R) BROADWAY LOCAL

    (R) via 59 ST

    (R) QUEENS BL LOCAL

    They're also updating the A
