  3. I think its just to make it look more updated. I believe the old look was introduced in the late 90's early 2000. The bus drawing on the older scheduled was said to look a Chance RT-52, the drawing of the bus on the newer buses is said to look like a Gillig Phantom.

  5. 2. Well however that route would be written, the route wouldn't be created. Even your way the route wouldn't be created because you would need an extra bus or two, something that Suffolk doesn't have nor can presently afford, but because you would be combining routes that or operated by two diffrent companies and as the companies showed in the past, they are very territail of their routes. (The current assignment of routes only came about partly because of a sttelment of a lawsuit all the operators, including two that are no longer operators, filed against the county in the late 90's which had to do with the ownership of the routes). The 2009 Study wouldn't be made because it would be sending two many routes over nearly the same strtch of area. The S66, Extended 7D, and the combine route. 4. The study called for the new route to take over the Smith Haven Mall to East Northport section of the S58 and then continue on to Walt Whitman Mall, it wasn't meant to supplement the S56. 5. You are aware that the S62 schudule was created back when the company that ran it was in Coram, you can't change a routes schudule just because where it is based out of changed. By that logic the first two S62 runs shouldstart out of the mall instead of Port Jefferson Station. 7. I never said you would get mad about that, I just said that Suffolk wouldn't do it. The reason that 347 is horrible has nothing to do with a lack of usable bus service. 347 is horrible because there are two few lanes, a problem that they are only now rectifing. As proof all buses are banned from stopping west of Nichol's road on Westbound trips. The S56 has always had low ridership, which is why they had, until the buses got to old to be used everyday, they assigned 30 foot Gilligs to the route. The S56 can't be cut happily because it does serve some type of complex (I'm not sure if it is a senior complex or not.) that doesn't have any other way to get to at least the Commack Shopping Center.
  6. The buses wouldn't arrive back in time for hourly headways and that is when they are both combined. I had the first 'new 7D leave at 7:00 and it didn't arrive back until an hour and five minutes later, and that is without stopping at Smith Point or the East Yaphank Industrial Park. No offence but if creating a new route would have been to costly, then combining the S68 and S90 would cost nearly the same amount of money. Maybe not directly from the route but from all the changes you would have to make. There would never be a S76 and S61 combo, in fact that makes no sence. Heck I'd be more agreeable with extending the S57 to Port Jefferson Via Saint James and Stony Brook, like the 2009 study suggested and eliminate the S76 then to combine the S61 and S76. Extention of the S56 to Coarm, what are you nuts, very little people ride the S56 as it is. Your beeter off running extra buses on the S58 and having them end in Coram or create a whole new route to run betwwen Coarm and Smith Haven Mall. Have you ever seen 347 during Rush Hour, those buses would never bee on time. He's going to do it until everyone believes what all he is saying is right. While some of his ideas make sence, most of them make totally no snece at all. Suffolk would never ever run any of their buses to Jones Beach.
  7. 3. There is very little people that use the S66 for travel with in the Mastic-Mastic Beach- and Shirley, and those are mostly people who go to PathMark. But that is because the 7D/E time table isn't very stable, and it wouldn't be better if you combine the two routes (I tried making my own time table of a combine 7D/E and it didn't come out any better then how the routes are now. It's probably why they haven't attempted to combined them. That being said it is still not right to not allow people traveling with in the area to use the S66 when it would be stopping anyway to pick up or discharge people who are either going to or coming from either Patchouge or Riverhead. 1. I've read the whole 2009 study and I don't recall any combining of the S90 and S68. I remember them saying about extending the S68 to run more to Center Moriches, but that was it. There would be no need to combine those to routes since the study said about combining the 7D/E and then extending it to Riverhead. IIRC the 2009 suggested either to elimiante the S90 or combine it with the 10D/E and stop running it to Center Moriches. 2. The S74 didn't Serve Stony Brook, nor would the S71 be serving any part of the old S74 except for Smith Point. (The S74 ran up William Floyd Parkway to NYS 25 then to Coram Plaza and finally to Smith Haven Mall) First off its the 6:55 am 7E your talking about and that doesn't even go to Smith Point, so its not really unecessary.
  8. Wouldn't work, most of the S66 riders are from that stretch of the route, I should know I've actually ridden the S66. Are you sure about that, I don't recall any such thing in the 2009 study? You are aware that Suvice to Smith Point Park is only for the Summer right, and even then I doubt there is/ will be enough ridership to need another bus to go there. (I mean SCT did have another bus that ran to Smith Point but it was cut due to low ridership, and that route ran from the mall.)
  9. No offence but having to transfer is better then having nothing at all. You are aware that even if you get your combined 2A and 2B, you AREN'T getting an S2, they would probably keep the route numbered 2A.
  10. Okay, why discontinue the S23 when you could re route it or better yet renumber the S25 as the S23. I think what the 2009 study had a better idea for the S25 and your plan for the 6A is idiotic, as no offence I don't f see many people from Gordon Heights needing to go to the airport, you know with most of the people there being considered poor and all.
  11. Your changes make no sense what so ever. I mean you switch basically the bottom half of the S59 with the S57, then you reroute all the routes down Smithtown Ave, I mean something tells me that not many people will be getting off along that stretch. And I highly doubt that the S42 would be extended to Ronkonkoma, especially since a study preformed by a firm that deals with transportation, suggested that the 42 be extended to Hauppauge. Third, and I can't stress this enough, the 59 and 57 are operated by two different companies, so for the time being there would never be any changes to those like the ones you are suggesting.
  12. What routes are empty during the PM Rush, I've heard that there are afew routes that are packed during the PM. One now being the S60 since the county and SUNY Stony Brook made a deal where SUNY Stony Brook pays the fares for their students up font so they don't have to pay while boarding as long as they travel either from the campus to the mall and back or from the campus to Port Jeff and back. The deal also covers the 3D from the Campus to the mall. The deal DOES NOT cover the S71. I doubt it, unless it travels one way going to the mall and the other way towards Sayville. Though I doubt you will ever see those two routes combined.
  13. The S42 shouldn't be routed away from the South Shore Mall, as that is the only route that riders on NYS 111 SOUTH of Suffolk Ave have to get to the mall. Sure they could transfer at Bay Shore, but people normally want to stay on ONE bus to get to their destination. The 3C travels down Connequot Avenue to get to the South Shore Mall alot more then it travels Carleton Avenue.to get there. As someone who has lived in the CI area, and had used the 3C, the 3C is just fine the way it is. No offence but if your change makes the S57 the quicker route, then why on earth would you switch its northern routing with the S59. That makes no complete sense at all. And I don't think the quickness of either route is a problem, because I'm sure that it would have been brought up in the 2009 study. Besides any changes made would be so a rider doesn't have to transfer as much to get to where they are going, as the 2009 study showed with the S57, and would have nothing to do with the quickness of the route. You are aware that the S110 was created more or less for the same reason you want a route created to go from Ronkonkoma to Riverhead, and look how that turned out. The S110 has been running for about twenty years (the first few years using actually coach buses from HARRAN, or so I'm told) and according to everyone nobody barely uses it now.

  15. The 7E and S66 only share the same routing on Mastic Road, in Mastic Beach and part of William Floyd Parkway. There is a bunch of the 7E route that doesn't overlap with the S66. Some of the 7E route got flooded out by Hurricane Sandy. The 7D/E has horrible timing, and even if they were combined the timing isn't any better. So unless there is a major resturcturing of the 7D/E, which I don't see happening, there really isn't anything that can be done.
  16. Probably, and I stress Probably, could. But knowing that area as well as I do, that is the best that could be done.
  17. Everyone is aware though that the S76 is basically a loop though Stony Brook, it doesn't actually doesn't stop like it does in Port Jefferson, so the :38 minutes doesn't actually mean anything.
  18. Its 30 min's between a bus each way, I've ridden the route and have studied the schudules, I have no idea where you get 38 minutes from - Unless you are talking about when the S60 have a reak and the time tables for both routes get changed - Unless there was a schudule change I'm not aware of the S76 has had the same schudule since it was started in 2005, the S60 has had the same schudlue for nearly 20 years, and the S76 schudlue claerly states that the S76 runs in both directions 30 minutes after a S60. It is highly annoying that you are trying to prove me wrong on stuff that I know better then you do. It may be hard for you to admit that you are wrong, but I assure you that you are. If you have any other comments on this matter please feel free to PM me. Also a S76 and 5A merger makes no sence, not only because it would have to loop around Port Jefferson Station to get to the shopping plaza, but because both routes are listed on the chopping block should the system need to cut routes. (I got that from a reliable person, so I can tell you that that is 100% correct)
  19. Hey stupid, the S76 does run 30 minutes after a S60, that was the WHOLE point that the route was created, besides to bring service BACK to Stony Brook Villiage, was to have service every 30 min's on the stretch that the S60 and S76 share. Some people need to look at a schudule before they comment of stuff they obviosuly don't know anything about.
  20. Yeah but its only one time either way. Besides Hauppauge is served by other routes. Suffolk will never time buses to meet LIRR trains, that I'm almost 100% sure of. The Clipper will probably live on for awhile as the MTA will hike up the fare and the S110 will still be cheaper.
  21. But there was a an article about the possiblity of a route via the LIE in 1993, there was at least one article, that I know of, about the route in 1998. The sole purpose of the S110 are for anyone that works along NYS 110 and those that go to SUNY Farmingdale, it doesn't go anywhere else, so unless you are one of the few that are going that way, there is no reason you would need that bus. The purpose of that bus is the reason it doesn't do well, not bad Marketing. As proof, my mother, who has ridden buses since before Suffolk Transit existed, knew that the S110 existed before I knew. So word of the route was out there, besides it's hard to miss Transit buses running on the HOV lane, and I'm sure before that it was hard to miss Red coach buses that had 'Clipper' written on the side of them. I'm not sure the cost of Advertising is, however the Ad wasn't more then a few seconds long so I can't Imagine that the cost was that much. What probably happen was that Suffolk didn't see a big increase in ridership because of the ad so they pulled it.
  22. I don't think I would call myself Master of LI, or anything like that.
  23. Thats a good question. I'm not sure if that has been documented, and I don't want to try and put a number on that. I think the Clipper was set its self up for being as unkown as it is, I mean the history of the route speaks for itself. It started in 1996, three years after being proposed along with a sister route, with up to 12 runs, which was cut to 6 (This was about 1998) because nobody was riding it. And they were using Coach buses. Then due to the low ridership you have 3 runs in the AM and 4 in the PM. Back around the early 2000's Suffolk did run a ad on Television for Suffolk Transit, though it didn't run for long and wasn't very catchy. I'm not sure why they stoped it.
  24. Thats the exact reason why Suffolk's elected officials wanted an MTA takeover of SCT, they also misguidedly thought that had the MTA did so it would have helped get better LIRR service, and also one of the many reasons why THOSE SAME elected officials wanted to repeal the Payroll tax.
  25. You wouldn't get a bus fare to $3.50 in this county, I mean everyone had a fit when they talked about an fare increase because the S92 and 10C fare could have jumped to $2.50 from the $2.00 it was raised to just to support Sunday Service. Instead the Legeslature backed down and gave those two routes a $0.25 fare increase instead of the $0.50 that the rest of the system got. Also I don't see how much extra revenue the county could get as almost nobody takes the route now. Didn't the MTA want to cut service East of Ronkonkoma because there weren't many people using those stations, why create a bus route that would stop at a station that may or maynot be used by people in the first place? I don't see a bus going directly into either Tanger or Splish Splash. I do see a need for bus service to Tanger, though like I said I doubt it will ever happen. Also you forgot the 8A, which travels on the south side of Tanger. I left out that my sister also has a child, so she would have needed a car at some point anyway. (Besides she took a bus ride with her child once, it nearly ended badly)
