  1. There have been attempts to split the S92 in the past? There may be direct service in the future one of the south folk villages has passed a deal for a Water Taxi that will go to Greenport, The Villiage of Greenport has to agree to it. If they do it should start running by the end of the year.
  2. The S74 use to be a Summer Only route that went from Smith Haven Mall to Smith Point Beach with a stop at Coarm Plaza. The route was started by Coram Bus Service (who had to ask for funding from The County) before the County took over operations of the bus lines. It was discontinued around 1998 because of low ridership and budget cuts. The S21 went from Sunrise Mall to Walt Whitman Mall Via NYS 109 and NYS 110. The 9A (run by Sunrise Coach Inc) went from Mattituck to Orient Point Via back roads unlike the S92, and was discontined in 1990 because of budget cuts. The 1C went from Copiague to Amityville and was discontinued in 1990 because of budget cuts.
  3. There probably was a stright run from Patchouge to Center Moriches back when Center Moriches was the end point for the S66. Prior to the S66 extention to Riverhead the S66 use to travel on Montauk from Shirley to Center Moriches (Like the S68 does on its two trips to Center Moriches) on some trips and through Mastic Beach (its current route) on other trips. I have no idea however if these Montauk runs were done on runs when the S66 would travel on Montauk from Patchouge to Shirley (or North Bellport) North is also served by the 7B , which could also be a reason why the S68 doesn't get much riders most of the time. I have seen at least once, however, a good amount of people use the S68 when the S66 doesn't go to Bellport Villiage. I have seen though almost nobody, though a few times there has been one or two people, use the S68 by the time it reaches Center Moriches on its two trips out there.
  4. There isn't a 25 cent fee, the 25 cents is for a Transfer (Its the only charge that hasn't changed in over twenty or so years). Though I don't think ST will ever get a Metro Card (Partly due to the County Not liking the MTA over the Pay Roll Tax, but also I have a feeling that those who are low income or use government help don't have the money to buy one in the first place) There already is a S69 (which you said retain so why call a 10D/E,which is run like one route, S69?). Route Numbers aren't that important. You are aware that in order to extend the S68 you most likely would need another bus or two (not really cost effective) and second the S66 was extended to Riverhead because the S90 wasn't very good to transfer to from the S66. Why extend a route that primarily runs in a different area along a route that was the cause for another route to be extend. (I mean if you could use the money to operate an extra bus on the S68 to add a bus to the S90 itself, or to add extra buses to the S66 instead of adding to the S68) Also I'm not aware of any complaints that would even need the S68 to be expanded. The 7D and E could be combined into one route and a Study recommended to the County but keep as the sign 7D. The S76 was created for the sole purpose that it serve the area it travels. (Besides I'm not aware of there a need to go from Coram to Stony Brook Village) Some S92 didn't like the fare raise for the Sunday Service at first, and a few weren't to happy with the Sunday Service at first as well.

  6. The Clipper use to have 12 runs a day when it was started in 1996 and had actual Coach buses from HARRAN, but not that many rode the bus. A news report said that the run the reporter took only had six riders. So over the years cuts were made to the route until it is what it is today. Although its nice to talk about changes, with there being no money in the system right now (The Divison that runs SCT literely has almost no people) and all it will be is talk. The Fare increase is going to fund a one million dollar budget gap. There is suppose to me a million dollars coming from the state but no word what that will be used for. (There is a rumor that a Legeslator wants to use it to help service) But based on passed evidence of what Suffolk has done with state money for SCT I'm not so sure that will happen.
  7. Thats why I had put fighting in quotes, I didn't mean that anyone was actually fighting.
  8. I'm not trying to turn this into a someone vs someone else, as I've shown by my lack of commenting this time around. I consider this subject moot as no matter what nobody will agree. Bring this subject up again and again and arguing over who is right and who is wrong and how they got their info and who they work for, doesn't do anything but hurt the function of this board. People no matter who they work for can be wrong some of the time, now I'm not saying that this is one of those times and I'm not saying that this isn't one of those times. Now I'm just saying that its time to drop this question once and for all. I sincerely hope that all sides can agree that this "fighting" has to come to an end. Its said that a Statesman thinks about the future and a politician thinks about the next election. Well if you ask me so far anyone that comments about this subject seems like a politician then a statesman. I appeal to you now as a acting statesman to think about the future of this site, if we continue to argue over this subject then all future topics can and probably will end up the same as this one. If you don't want that to happen Then this argument over bus ownership has to end now. Sincerely, Mac5689
  9. I'm pretty sure if they were paid by a grant from the Government that says that they can only be used in Nassau then the MTA can't take them back when ever they want, unless the MTA has the money to pay back the government.
  10. I know right, when I saw his post I was like 'here we go again'. With one post dedicated to that topic and the other one were it came up, I can't believe someone would bring it up in this one (though not totally surprised) I say let the question over ownership of 1760-1839 go, nothing good has come of it. The only thing that topic has done is bring nothing but trouble.
  11. Also the 10D and 10E are short of one route, which is to say that they are interlined, BOTH routes do not run on Saturday.

The S62 follows the 5A route from Port Jefferson to Rocky Point once during the morning and once in the evening during the week days, however the S62 doesn't follow the 5A when the 5A goes to Miller Place.

The S33 loops around like the S27. You also forgot the New York State Building stop in Hauppauge and the routing at the Dennison Building is wrong.

  12. You can't make a left hand turn from Mastic Road to Montauk Hwy. The 7D use to cut up a side road but stopped doing that a few years ago. Suffolk had made the change to the schedules but may have changed back because some idiot put up a new bus shelter and for some reason put a 7D sign there. Also the 7D uses Turn onto Titmus from Montauk, even though the Schedule, I don't know the reasoning behind this however though I know they have been doing it as long as I can remember.

Yeah the 3D and S71 in Stony Brook are correct.

All Smith Haven Mall (The 3D is fine when it comes to/goes to Brentwood)use Burr road to get to the bus stop. The S58 uses the path as the S56 and so does the S62 when it comes/goes to Hauppauge.

The S71 uses the LIE now to get to Yaphank road from Sills road(CR101), its a new thing and is hard to tell on the schedule.

You have some stuff wrong in Riverhead if you are interested.

  13. So far I have found the following mistakes on your Long Island Transit Map.

The 3D,S60,S69, and S71 go to John S Toll Drive. The 3D, and S71 going to the Railroad, and the S60 heading to the Mall loop around at the Student Center and John Toll back to Circle road and up to the Railroad Station.

When the 3D,S71 coming from the Railroad station, and the S60/S69 coming from the mall follow Circle Road then turn on Infirmary road to the student union and exit using John S Toll Drive to Circle and out the exit near the Staller Center.

All the stops at Smith Haven Mall are on the Northside of the mall where Sterns was again. The S58 and S62 stop at Smith Haven.

The 7D DOESN'T use Mastic road in Mastic.

The S66 also stops at SCCC-Riverhead.

The S58,S60,S61,and 6A use Skips road to Mill Road to get to the Coram Plaza stop.

The S61 and S63 follow the S54 routing to Patchouge Railroad Station. The S40, S66 and S68 end at the Sixth District Court.

  14. I did in the second version I just posted, I kept the mention about it up to encase I was wrong and if someone saw it and then saw the roster and saw that I had it retired end up thinking they saw things and possibly not come forward to say that they had seen it.

  16. I think things have settled down a little, but thats my guess. I heard that 8004 seems to be regularly assigned to the S54 now. What it probably was, was with EBT having to hire new drivers (maybe ex Inter-County drivers) they couldn't assign buses as the use to since some drivers didn't have training on or experience with some buses. I mean no driver except ones that have been with EBT would have had any training or experience with the 2008 Gillig Advantage BRT's, so those buses couldn't have been assigned to just anyone. And with Veteran EBT drivers probably picking routes that they never had before, it was probably a strain to assign buses. I bet though when all the new drivers are trained on the buses they had no training on then bus assignments will probably go back to how they were before the change, unless Suffolk decides diffrent, like assigning 40ft buses to the S54 instead of the S33 where the two 40 buses ICMC had were assigned to.
  17. I have no idea, I would believe that they would have hired ICMC if any applied but I have no way of knowing how the transition went over there. I would also believe that all routes would have to go up for drivers to pick, but again I have know knowledge of how such a change would go. A friend said that he saw 8002 on the S63 yesterday and he believed that the driver was originally from EBT. Yesterday EBT put 8002 and 1045 on the S63, and 1006, 1009, 5056 on the S54 (I don't know the other buses used for the S54), though 1046 replaced 5056.
