I just realized Lakewood would have 2 routes running between Sutphin and 142. The proposed 109 and 40, similar to Liberty having the 9 and 57 between Sutphin and the Van Wyck. Lakewood is very narrow. I would move this 109 to 109 Av to Sutphin or use Liberty

That part of 109 is a little more narrow than Lakewood.

For those who were confused in June that those speed governs above were standard, I apologize. The actual speed govern is 40 for local buses, and 60 for express. Those speed governs I'm talking about above are the speeds I recommend for the (MTA) to follow. This is because (NJT) has a higher speed govern than the (MTA), with the NABIs capped at 65.

Not all of the NABIs at NJT are governed at 65.....some are at 55, some are at 45, some aren't governed at all.

CS would be at a shortage if they retired the NGs with no replacement. The 2 LFS can only kill 2 NGs. Stengel would be forced to keep the NGs longer than expected because of this recent transfer. It would be extremely hard to retire the NGs from the XE40 order since the depots getting the XE40s don’t have anything that fits in with Stengel’s fleet.

This is also largely dependent on how many buses are used on regular day at CS. Outside of buses held for maintenance, the depot is never empty and always has spares.

Either GA or ENY. I don’t see why Brooklyn needs extra buses from Jamaica when Brooklyn is getting 30 XE40s. Enough for a one to one replacement in Brooklyn.

The XEs won't be replacement buses, but to add to the fleet in general. The next big order will push out a lot of buses. 4966 was supposed to go to the other depots that's supposed to receive the buses, but that one bus has been going through quite a bit of problems.

Pardon my ignorance, but why does an issue as minor as the station announcements/FIND system warrant pulling all R211 (minus pilot). Seems like a massive overreaction. They can fix one at a time and have conductors do the old fashioned announcements in the meantime, not like they're doing all that much anyway.

That was not the reason why they were all pulled from service.

The gearboxes on cars 4070 and up have been leaking out oil, causing the trucks to develop massive, severe flat spots. 4060-4069 have the original R160 trucks and those are unaffected. 4070 and up have a new truck design.

Buses from one depot get sent to the other for weekend shuttles and return on Sunday night or original driver will go meet bus 1/2 way and use that bus for a route for Monday’s AM service for one or two trips.

No they don't. That has never, ever happened. They can't send a CNG bus to QV in particular since QV can't even fuel the bloody thing.

It's just tracker being stupid. Stop making things up.

    5 hours ago, xD4nn said:

8652 was tracking as 682 on the Q88. Is 682 actually at QV or is the tracker bugging out?

QV is a hefty distance from the J90. Wouldn't JA be a more reasonable depot or another depot in Brooklyn such as ENY or FP?

    1. See response above.
    2. Distance does not matter when it comes to open shuttle work. If depots have open work for shuttles, they'll do it. Staten Island has done subway shuttles in Manhattan, Queens and The Bronx, so it doesn't matter how far it is from the job.

Bet most didn’t know this but XD60 6252 out of JFK made an appearance on the Q37 earlier this week. I think there was a gap in service.

The only depot with the best batch of blue and white XD40s is LGA depot. They were spec’d a little different which saved them. They don’t feel as slow to me and that batch also has the same seating as the C40LF’s and the 2011 LFS’s.
The 2014-15 XD40s in general ride slow. Their acceleration is slow and the bus feels like it’s dragging and struggling to move.

The 6000’s that CS have are definitely beat and most of those units run all day everyday on the Q44. I wonder what the mileage is like on those buses? Then you have the 4700s that seem to spend more time in the shop than on the road.

    Hard disagree.

The 4800s are the best blue & white XD40s we got.

Those LFSAs ran way better than these 3rd gear merchants..

Ehhh, not so much. Those 5900s got sluggish much quicker than expected. The buses they ended up getting from elsewhere were much better, especially 5799.

The XD40s have gotten somewhat better as I believe some of them went in for their mid-life rehab, but still a very sluggish batch of buses. As for the XD60s, the Q44 just seems to be taxing on buses in general. Before they were replaced, the Nova LFSAs were also insanely beat up.

They haven't gotten that much better even with the rehab. The suspensions on those buses are garbage and they sway way too easily compared to the rest of the XD40s especially at speed just like the 6000 series Orion Vs they had. Stengel for a fact has the worst batch of XD40s in the system as a whole. The Brooklyn 7100s are a bit better(especially ENYs).

I heard NJT wants to get rid of the Transdev contract soon. Anyone know when exactly? I'm hearing November 1st.

They've already taken over transdev operations as of the 1st of this month. NJT is using the transdev garage for operations until they can figure out where they can store the buses and which garages will be willing to take on those routes. Howell already vetoed the idea of them operating those routes.

What's is the problem, this is a topic saying create your own business route; so I decided to put my thoughts on here. FYI I only have one account for nyctransitforums. But I leave you guys alone. I apologize for interrupting.

I've checked. You have at least 4-5 other accounts listed under the same IPs you use.....

Hello. I’m new to this forum. And I have a question, so this free fare project they’re doing, do they plan to extend the project to other routes like the Q27 or 25 for example? I believe both have very high ridership

    ...you're not new.

Stick with one account or I'm getting rid of both.

I wouldn't say Tuskegee is bad with maintenance, but the fact that most of their routes are 24/7 lines spanning the entirety of Manhattan with little to no breaks, stuff is bound to keep breaking down. Coupled with the fact that every bus I see has some sort of damage, the accidents don't help.

.....they've been bad for several years.

6499-6500, and 6548 are still with Olympia Trails. 6548 was working on the Newark Airport Express Line earlier. Unsure if 6549 was a Newark Airport Express Bus and still unsure about the status of 5631-5636. Those [5631-5636] buses I haven't seen service lately. 6501-6547 going back to NJT.

I don't think the Airport NABIs will be leaving. I've seen them in use during the day and in some evenings.

Never said they wasn’t. But when you run the same buses for over a decade, it tends to get old and boring. All the other depots getting new buses, why not us? They can’t make no new cng buses or something at least? These buses now are soon to retire within the next 3-6 years

Because there's literally no need for new CNG buses. The CNG tanks are for 15-20 years. It doesn't matter if it's boring or not, they're in good shape and will last long.

Way to kill my spirits… 😒😒😒

You know what, now F the MTA…..

The CP Depot been running those CNG CLF40s since 2011! That’s 12 years! Sure there were some loaners here and there but bro! Why can’t they send some new buses our directions?! Like come on!

Put it this way, we’ll be the ONLY depot without blue local buses 🤦🏾‍♂️

I don't see how this is a problem. It's not like they are running decrepit buses. Those C40LFs are in pretty good shape for their age.

The next order of xd40's they will have send 90  busses to jam.

...what next order? No new bus order has been announced for NYCT. MTA Bus is getting new XD40s. Jamaica won't see any of it.

Looking at the plan, it looks like QBR calls for a lot of extra buses than they currently have right now. Curious to see how they play this one out without cutting service.

Where do you think the proposed Q45 will be based out of? It no longer goes via Jamaica ave so the relief point outside of QV depot has to be axed and deadhead from QV to LIRR Little Neck is approximately 20+ minutes.

I see it at QV. It could be one of those lines that also interlines with the Q43(if that stays at QV that is) and the Union Turnpike routes.

With the way some of these routes are planned, anything can happen.
