Lmao to whoever did the Q53 SBS codes, the front side correctly says Woodside - 61st St Sta but the side sign says Elmhurst - Woodhaven Blvd Sta 😂😂😂

I was just on 6080, which was taken OOS because the window behind the driver had the emergency handle pulled and she couldn't get it to close. It was sitting at Myrtle Avenue for a while until the driver took it out of service.

That's one of the easiest fixes on the bus.  Just push the window out and as far up as you can go and let it slam

I never knew the train operator could move the train with the doors open.

(This is what the MTA gets for insisting on their own rule by two.)

Except you can actually move a train with the doors open.

...10 years of this site and still oozing of new information left and right, isn' it amazing?

Do you take them on the bus or use a car? Seems like the obvious question to ask since you have little ones.

My oldest son graduated from the stroller and walks full-time (thank god lol), and my youngest one (4 months old) uses a stroller. On the off chance I have to actually have to take him on the bus (normally I drive, if not I strap him to my chest) I fold the stroller a block before the bus shows up. I don't use them big bulky ass strollers as they take up space.

    @Around the Horn get this:

The conductor doted off at Canal St's Tunnel level and it literally took me yelling "what the heck? That signal is green! Why are we still here? You sleep?"

Please note ten minutes passed before my remark. The signal could have been green for longer.

I find some conductor's lack of tact, disturbing.

Never knew the conductor waa the one that moves the train

Wouldn't the Bx9 SBS have to share Bx12's machines at the +Select stops? Seems like a recipe for fare beating to me. But then again, you'll still have to pay $2.75 to get the first ticket and you're not gonna bother swiping again unless you have to connect with the train at some point or just farebeat the whole trip altogether.

They can easily share a stop if anything. Both the M60 and Q70 share stops within the airport and the receipts say "LG00" instead of the individual route.

44 R-62A's were still assigned to Corona as of September 29.

    2146-50 went back to 6--

Not just 1939 but also 1921, 1922, 1925 and 1959 to Livonia.  Future uncertain (as in possible Work Service?).

No R-62A's on 7 the PM rush of Monday, October 2.

The rest of the R-62A's may be moving on at any time.

The ones in Livonia will be for the 42 St (S). Probably just rotating the cars out

  7. Hey guys I have a quick question while passing through the neigborhood here at Manhattanville I notice that Manhattanville is almost done with it's repairs so I was wondering will the Mta ever try to expand the clearance area at Manhattanville depot so that MHV can recieve and store artics?

Not part of any current plans right now

  8. This maybe off topic but I was wondering which bus depot was the first to be open in Manhattan?

There's no such thing as off-topic in a thread with no specific topic lol.

But to answer your question, it's kinda hard to answer since most bus depots started out as trolley barns and whatnot. If I had to take a wild guess, I would say either Hale or the old 12 St depot.

  9. Right, getting this back on topic:

Rail conditions north (actually west) of 2nd Avenue makes it so all trains to/from Broadway-Lafayette MUST come from/go to the Broadway-Brooklyn line, which is unaffected by this.

At the same time, a switch issue in the Montague tunnel makes it so all trains in the tunnel to Manhattan MUST go via Nassau (though trains from Manhattan on the Broadway line can use the Montague tunnel normally).

    Lines mainly affected: (F)(M)(R)

    Reroute as needed.

    (F) via Cranberry

    (M) normal

    (R) via bridge Manhattan bound

    ...simple

  10. He controls the sensors. He presses for the sensors to activate and if they detect no one there, they will close. Clearly, they’re controlled by the driver because I’ve sat at stops with the back doors open with no one in the way. So the bus doesn’t just open and close its doors automatically.

Thats not how the back doors work. I'll explain it using the Novas:

When you turn the door handle to rear on the local buses, the back doors will unlock (green light comes on) and will stay unlocked until someone touches the tape/bar, in which the doors will open and stay open. When the operator turns the handle to close, the doors will start to close. If the sensor picks up something in the doorway, the doors will automatulically reopen and reclose as many times as it needs until they're closed and locked.

On SBS buses/buses set in SBS mode, the doors automatically unlock and open once the driver turns the handle to rear. As with the local buses, once the handle gets turned to close, the doors will close and recycle if the sensor catches something in the door area.

  11. I'm looking forward to these new buses, I hope the B32 fleet will be entirety made up of these buses so one don't have to go on a goose chase to find them. B39... meh. I hope with the new scheme the TA will still find a way to put "Clean Air Hybrid Electric Bus" decals on them, always thought that was cool about our Hybrids.

We're only getting 5 buses. The 32 uses 4 buses for the entire line and the 39 uses 1.

  12. I'd do that but with the (R) and (W) terminating at both levels of City Hall and with (J)(Z) running 2 different services, one to Bay Ridge and one to West End

-City Hall LL does not have a platform up to code to be used by passengers.

    - The (Z) only runs about 10 trains a weekday. It isn't it's own separate line, they are all just (J) trains.

  13. A power failure causes a fire to erupt in Whitehall St. The R line south of Rector St is unusable, as well as the New South Ferry station. (The Nassau St connection to Mountague is not affected by this.) The damage will take 2 months to repair. What do you do?

    (1) 242 St to Rector St, loop via old SF

    (N) via bridge at all times

®Court St to 95 St, 71 Av to Canal St

    (W) Ditmars Blvd to Canal St

  14. Yukon also needs to be rehabbed IMO. People used to really make a stink about all of the express buses and local buses parked all over the place and idling, and you can't use the Transit Center as if it's another depot because it's not there for that.

Compared to other depots citywide, Yukon is still fairly young. It was built brand new 36 years ago. ETC is more or less the Yukon parking lot for the express buses since that little small lot across the street can't hold all of them.

Castleton I can agree with you hands down needs a rehab

  15. Right now those buses are for rental for the (M) shuttle. After that it makes a trip over to Manhattan for Quill, and possibly some of those buses will make way to East New York and possibly Flatbush.. If the crosstown SBS were to be implemented sometime in 2018 or 2019, than Grand Avenue will get it's share of artics. The only line I could think of right now Grand can place artics is the B38, but that's shared with Fresh Pond, and they don't have both branches.

It's still a huge toss-up on which artics ENY is gonna get. They're still deciding between the Bronx 4700s, or just a piece of the XD60 pie itself.
