I always wonder. I used to used to see a few RTSs here and there on the B8 and B35. What changed? Did MTA just decided to let JC Depot only have CNGs or...

The ones from a few years ago were just loaners from Ulmer Park.

 

The depot became a CNG depot. Gleason is like the prima donna or the depots in Brooklyn. They get all of the new stuff.

They can probably move 4 car trains over to the G train, the G train really needs them with increased ridership on this line.

A 4 car train of 179s would be SHORTER than the 4 car sets of 68s they already use

Always wondered why R32's 3890 and 3891 aren't paired up with each other. Wouldn't it have been easier to put 3380 with 3520?

During the GOH era, the 32s were rebuilt on the basis of how bad they were, so the worse ones were done first. Not all of them were done with its respective mate, so there were many mismatched sets. Not counting the few that were mismatched because of accidents.

It's not rocks per se, it's the parking garage built above it that is crumbling onto the yard below.

In a nice surprise, 6125 (XD60) is at GH (with GH stickers so I'm guessing it's staying in the Bronx for a while.) What does this mean for the rest of the artic deliveries?

The only law in place is operation while anyone is standing infront of the white line. NJT has standees on their Cruisers all the time. I ride them on their 166 local and the occasional 178 or 186.

There's no standees allowed on the CNG cruisers because of weight restrictions.

I don't understand why these two are making such a big stink about it as if routes don't switch from 40 footers to artics because of overcrowding. That's why they're ordering more artics anyway...

He wants only the Limited trips to use artics, and that just isn't feasible without completely changing the way every single run is set up.

 

I'll use an example...

 

Operator X starts his day and his first trip to Hunts Point is on the local. Going by his logic, he naturally should get a shorty (we'll say 7746). He finishes his first trip, and his next trip going to Washington Heights is also a local. Finishes that trip also with no problem.

 

Now his next trip to Hunts Point is a limited trip. Once again, going by his logic, he's supposed to have an artic. Operator X has 7746 and has a limited trip to do to Hunts Point. Now what is he to do?

 

That's the whole point I'm trying to make...

 

 

Well if the problem is the setup of the run, then the runs on the Bx36 should be restructured to accomodate use of artics for the LIMITED, Garibaldi makes sense on this it is inexcusable that runs can't be restructured to accomodate them. If the Bx12 Local & SBS are treated as separate routes for Bus fleet accomodations then the Bx36 LOCAL and LIMITED should be treated as separate routes to make it work.

Local routes and their respective SBS counterparts are considered separate routes for a reason. Your whole day is either on one or the other. Besides, the entire line is 100% artics

 

I've already explained to you the other day about local and limited routes

I would suggest making the Bx36 LIMITED exclusively articulated, that route is SARDINE HELL in there. There is more than enough artics to cover the LIMITED, hopefully by the time the XN60s come in we get a permanent solution but from now to March 2018 that's what needs to happen to just balance out the route, it's too crowded but at least it's on time on a average basis.

It's not feasible given the way many of the runs are set up. You could do a trip one way as a limited, and your next trip out could be a local, and vice versa.

A few years ago.

 

5658 had a scaffolding (and part of a building) fall on the back half of it on the Bx15, while 5656 crashed on the Bx19. They took the front half of 5658 and the back half of 5656 and made a "new" 5656. The bad halves of both buses (presumably renumbered 5658, not that it matters) were put together (for a lack of a better term and sat at Eastchester.

 

Fun fact...

 

Unrelated to those 2 incidents, 5657 caught fire so at one point 5656-5658 were all out of service at the same time.
