can't find anyone to explain why the B35 short sign is displayed in this fashion these days. i absolutely hate it, and i don't understand (letalone care) why it was changed.

this is why they're ass backwards.. after an eternity of the B6 sign displaying Bensonhurst ÷ Harway Av, they change it to 25 Av - Cropsey, meanwhile, McDonald Avenue or Av? too confusing/too much going on.. let's shorten it 🤦🏾‍♂️

That McDonald signage brings me back to the PBL days. Like when the Q8 just said Euclid like it's a neighborhood. I'm not too fond of these corner destinations. It should be neighborhood, street then via whatever. The Q41 is a bit excessive now. LIB I had an issue with too.

  2. Some random thoughts about this Queens redesign:

The Q9 is proposed to be extended south to 135 Av. I find that funny since its ex GBL brethren have Rockaway Blvd as a short turn, not a full time terminal. Most notably the Q6 and 10.

The Q37 being extended to JFK is kind of similar as if the Q77 were extended to JFK. 2 options from Queens Blvd, 2 options from Jamaica Terminal

Send the Q72 inside LGA.... Send the Q23 inside LGA.... Combine the Q32 & Q33 (back when that ran inside LGA, serving terminal B & C)... Don't miss those age-old discussions at all.

The Q72 was never the most reliable route per se, but it ran way more smoother when it didn't run inside LGA.... Being perfectly honest, I miss when it stopped short there at Ditmars... That route is insufferable to fan, so I can only imagine how daily commuters feel about having to take/rely on that route.

I'm actually surprised the 23 to LGA was not considered in these redesigns

For me, it's wanting to detach the 102nd/103rd/104th portion of the route with the 108th st. portion of the route.... In terms of filling gaps, the one on 99th always bothered me far more than the one along 108th.... if there was a subway station at 108th/Roosevelt, I'd end the Q23 right there... But realizing how much of a dud the Q23 is in East Elmhurst IMO, I started thinking of ways the thing could be more useful in/for that neighborhood (hence, the shooting across Astoria from 108th to 94th, and up 94th to eventually end at 95th/Ditmars)...

The only thing I like about the impending Q14 is the portion b/w Astoria Blvd & QB.

There's those 23 to LaGuardia discussions that will come up. Take the 48 out

    Q104: I would've preferred a through-Broadway route as previously proposed

I would have left that for the 63, instead of it being a supplement to the 66. I believe there was talk back on RD that the 66 should be a LTD or have articulated buses.

In any event, I'll take the current day Q112 over that god awful Q57 any day of the week.

The thing that got me was it was proposed to run 24/7

Once they extend to Williams it became non exclusive as many didn’t know it existed. Didn’t live far from command one of the best privates outside of Queens Surface. The last stop was E 92nd and Flatlands Av the B103 was really for working class people in the PH.

This is a similar setup when the (Q53SBS)was Triboro

    That's basically how I feel

Also I'm not saying this should happen, but the Q17 being rush along Kissena and Horace Harding feels like a missed opportunity. Guess it's because of the high ridership in both areas so I can't be mad.

I mean there are some ideas from the first 2 drafts that I liked that could have made the final cut. Mostly from the second draft and probably one from the first draft.

Aside from the Q24 & Q56 being B'way Junction - Jamaica routes (as Cait Sith pointed out), still, nah - As there's not much of a point to have it continue along Pitkin to Penn, en route to B'way Junction.... Outside of ADA access, that is.... Hell, even the Q24 from B'way Junction would be less of a slog than the Q112 for getting to Jamaica, and that's saying quite a lot....

Nah.....with the Q24 and Q56 there. I don't think that would actually help the line.

The Q112 to Broadway Junction is similar to my B10 to Cypress Hills in the Brooklyn Redesign thread. (Why the B12 needed a LTD variant is beyond me) I would only do it for ADA and when the (C) goes express between Euclid and Broadway Junction.

With the Q37, that's not a branch (ending at the Casino).... Everything you see on the map is all one continuous route.... Buses already (currently) double back to serve the casino, before proceeding onward in either direction... With the Q112 replacing the current Q7 west of Rockaway Blvd (A), it's clear they don't know what to do with that segment.... They went from completely eliminating service along that part of Sutter in the first draft, to having that Q109 running along that part of Sutter, to ultimately having the Q112 running along that part of Sutter.....

I looked at the map wrong. In the 1st draft, the Q37 no longer served the Casino. In the second one, it was modified in South Ozone Park for the umpteenth time. In this final one, it's supposed to go to JFK with another modification in South Ozone Park. I'm starting to agree now. Perhaps the B14 would be better taking that Pitkin segment to Ozone Park. Don't know what the turnaround would be though

Q45/Q46/Q48: Where do I even start with this shit? Right off the bat, I'm vehemently against the way service will be segmented along Union Tpke.... AFAIC, this is all being done to avoid having anything end at Springfield (because after all, they mention that combined service of these 3 routes will be an increase, compared to current Q46 service)...

While I actually like the Q45 route, it shouldn't be part of any main segment along the corridor - Instead, it should be a SUPPLEMENT along the corridor (and a local one at that, not a LTD).... Even though there are a lot of riders that use the current Q46 west of 188th, Union Tpke shouldn't be segmented with a LTD west of 188th & 2 rush routes east of 188th.... The core of the riderbase along Union Tpke is b/w Kew Gardens (E)(F) & Springfield... All you really have to do with Union Tpke (if you want to create complementary routes along the corridor, that is) is have one complement run b/w QB & Springfield, with the other complement running the current LIJ branch of the Q46.... Since they're doing this pigeonholing shit with all the routes (meaning, one route can only be a green route, a blue route, a red route, or a purple route), the QB-Springfield complement can be one of those red routes, with the complement running past Springfield being a rush route or whatever...

With that said, throughout the years, I have always thought that the Glen Oaks branch ran excessively; they do this as to not have have too many BPH running in/out of LIJ.... I personally wouldn't bother with the Q48 & (if push came to shove), just have the Q45 as a local & the Q46 as one of the red routes or whatever... If it means running more Q45 service over Q46 service (again, with the sentiment/surmisal that they don't want anything ending at Springfield) to avoid running too many buses in/out of LIJ, then so be it....

To sum it up, service shouldn't be segmented at 188th... If there's to be any line of demarcation along the corridor, it should be at Springfield.

So, in your case, Union Tpke would get the Brewer treatment in a way:

    Q45- Kew Gardens-Springfield Blvd

    Q46- Kew Gardens-LIJ

    Q48- Kew Gardens-Glen Oaks

These are some of the ones I remembered.

Q7- Elizabeth Blackwell Middle School (101 Ave & 94th street)

The Q6 as well as the Q8 had this same tripper too but former was eliminated due to distance.

The Q7 used to have trippers Robert Goddard junior High School (Lafayette Street-149th Av)

Q11- Robert Goddard Junior High school tripper still exist today.

Q21 and Q22 - Beach Channel High School and Rockaway Beach JHS (Beach 104th Street & Beach Channel Drive

Q23 used to have trippers from Forest Hills High School.

Q25 used to have trips start at Queens College

Q37 served John Adams High and MS 137 on Rockaway Blvd not too far from the (A) Rockaway Bl station

Q41 Robert Goddard Junior High School. I believe the Q41 also had trippers from John Adams High.

Q65A (now Q64) used to have a tripper from Parson Blvd and 77th Ave to serve both Robert F Kennedy Community High, & Queens School of Inquiry (forgot it’s original name from back in the days lol). It followed the Q25/Q34 route on Parsons & Kissena Blvd to Jewel Ave and then it ran its regular route to Forest Hills.

Q111/Q113 August Martin High School (Baisley Blvd/157th street)

Q111/Q113 also had trippers from Springfield Gardens High school (which was eliminated)

The Q111 still currently serves MS 231 along with the Q77 and Q85 on Springfield Blvd and South Conduit.

I believe the Q60 had a school tripper at Russell Sage JHS 190 during the Green Line days. The 69 then the 19A had one at LIC during the Triboro days.
