  1. Commute turned out to be wonderful this evening. Rode Orion 5 6092 on the S92 going toward CSI, Orion 7 NG 4255 returning, Nova LFS 8002, on the S53, then Orion 7 CNG 7591 on the B16 (which was unusally packed due to parent teacher conference) and then finished it off with Orion 5 CNG 9928 on the B35 LTD. :)

  2. This may not be the best idea I came up with, but I was thinking this one up last night:

    B1 extension to Staten Island:

Follows the S53 routing to McClean Av/Sand Lane, then goes down Sand Lane and terminates at South Beach Terminal.

I thought this might be useful because this gives residents in South Beach and Arrochar a one-seat ride Bensonhurst, Kingsboro Community College, and other areas served by the B1.

This would also take some crowding off the S53 especially during rush hours and the extension would add at the most 10-15 minutes which isn't that bad.

    Comments?

  3. Oh, while I'm at it, the 16:00 S44 out of St. George should be an S94. In most cases where you have two buses leaving St. George at once, one of them should be a limited.

That I agree with. There is similar case is with two S44's leaving St. George at 7:30PM. I also noticed, they took away the 7PM S94 and moved it to 9:00 PM.

  4. I hope they can get some reverse-peak S96 service going. They could just reduce the local service a bit, and it would barely cost them anything (plus, they might soon need to add service for crowd control anyway)

I really don't think reverse peak S96 is needed that much.

  5. Well if you mean from last pick which was from September to January, then yes. But right now I don't know who does the run.

The best thing I like is that it's a Castleton run so you may catch a Nova, Third Gen or Xcelsior on that run.

I've seen that tripper on the S62 before. Most of the time, it's usually an Orion 5.

  6. It's not.

Those are definitely on the way out, but those are on the way out even without the artics since they're at the EOL (I'll miss those air starters on the 41 though)... Question is what the artics are specifically replacing.

I hope not the '98-99 RTS's. The artics probably might send some 96xx's somewhere.

The NG's are staying, so to me it only makes sense they would send out the 9600's.

  7. I see where that can be an issue, but the (M) normally runs out of Jamaica Yard as it is, so it could be timed where at the start, a few (E)s started at 71st-Continental while the last few (M)s finished at Parsons-Archer.

Another option would be to have the (M) run to 71st-Continental as it normally does on weekdays while there is an (E) shuttle between 71-Continental and Parsons-Archer for those nights. That might be a way to work around the equipment issue while also storing a couple of (E)s at Chambers Terminal for right after FastTrack ends in the morning.

The (M) is out of East New York Yard, not Jamaica. Some (M) trains are just stored there for when it begins and ends service.

  8. All of my bus rides today consisted of an Xcelsior on the S93, Orion 5 on the S62, D60HF on the M101, Orion 7 OG on the Q44, Orion 5 CNG on the Q65, Ex-Bee Orion 5 Line on the Q111 and finished it off with an RTS on the B44. I took some subway lines in between some of these bus rides. I too, had a NG free day.
