  1. You feel that way because you’re not exposed to them the way some of us are.

the 211s as a whole are very different from a hardware perspective, for example, with a flick of a single switch, I can lock out all the doors in one car.

meanwhile there is really only one important thing that sets the 211A and 211T apart not involving the gangways.

The L3 and R6 door panels on the Ts can be opened individually and have a deployable handle and a step to allow transit personnel to climb down because we no longer can between the cars, save at the ends of units.

During it's testing, it showed what side the doors will open on. What happened to it? Doors open signage shown here:

It was turned off for a reason. What that reason is is currently unclear, but it was for a reason.

as it stands, the only way the train knows which side the doors will truly open on is which side the train operator has enabled and which side the conductor has their key in the door controls for.

you might well say “well, can’t they just program it in…”

That only works if everything is perfect and normal and we all know those concepts do not exist down there.

For example, “express on the local”. I’m still making the same station stops, but with few exceptions, I’m opening up on the other side than I normally would as an express.

  3. Few other details. One thing that planned for the future is the ceiling displays will be changed to include arrows that show which side the doors will be opening.

As for the CCTV, the cameras are routed to onboard DVRs and will record 24/7 so long as there is power

There is a forward facing camera in all A cars, which stores 10 days of footage. There are two cameras in the cab with store 30 days of footage.

and in the passenger compartments of all cars there are multiple cameras that store for 97 days. Meaning we can look at the footage from yesterdays fights well into June.

Yes, you, the passengers, can not see the footage, but the crews can with a key turn and a few button presses.

So behave yourselves… you never know if one of us is watching you…

Welcome R211..... welcome to the toxicity that is the younger generation of New Yorkers. Not all, but some by the way.

I mean you want to see this community REALLY be toxic, put yourself in my shoes as LGBTQ+ and trying to stay a member.

  5. In this circumstance, if it was to make station stops and just, be in service, it would have probably been an "Extra" train, outside the normal timetable. If i had to hazard a guess, they would have had more than one crew aboard to run the train back without overdoing it.

  6. From what I can put togther, this would have been a special under a GO. I was right. This would have been a GO job for the TO Nova said they know.

GOs are not just construction, but effectively anything that can result in a change of service. Hence what GO is short for is “General Order”.

because the train is not part of our normal road fleet (yet) it would have to operate under a GO. All museum train rides, be they the actual Nostalgia Trains the Museum runs itself or the holiday in service specials… those occur under the authority of GOs.

For another example… there is a GO on Monday on the J… that you would not know hide nor hair about unless one of us with access to the GO database told you about it … because it’s for NYPD training on the closed Bowery and Canal platforms.

if this was the start of the 30 day test, it would have had a bulletin. If they were running as a special train, there would have been a GO.

    and nether were there.

Bruh I was thinking to myself how stupid of a design decision that was. Ig I'm the stupid one lol.

For the record, that panel conceals the emergency door release controls. It requires my door control key to unlock.

  8. Like, I don’t know if I’m allowed to share internal documentation, so I am not going to, but the bulletin of the launch of the 10 car R179s on the A is still listed as an active bulletin. There was another bulletin for when the 8 car sets debuted, but it’s been removed.

It explicitly states no troubleshooting, that when any problems occur the train is to run light back to Pitken, and even notes which track was set aside for the test train to be parked on during the midnight tour. So I am basically expecting to see a similar announcement before the 211s begin passenger testing.

  9. There is still no internal bulletin or notices about this on our intranet.

I would think telling us RTO personnel would be the first priority, since we, you know, have to operate the damn thing.

this is like… opening a new ride at Disney and not telling the Cast Members.

  10. 0700 WTC to parsons is the first Jamaica bound express that runs the full corridor. the first Jamaica bound train to run express at all is the 0553 WTC, but that only runs express from Queens Plaza to Forest Hills.

I have been working on the corridor and heard the 0700 and its followers being routed onto the local and making local stops because the express track still has layups on it waiting to go.
