8 Av will be (IIRC) 59th to Jay.

At 10PM frequencies:
7.5 tph

So the math is that it ends up being 30.5 tph. Not bad. It could work for one stop.

Errrr... there's absolutely no way they could "just deal" with having five lines on the local tracks. I would imagine the ( © and would all end early to make this work.
Even then, even at late night headways, I question the ability to squeeze the and onto the same pair of tracks. Certainly not impossible, but fairly difficult.
At late night headways, the together is 9 tph. That's nothing.

All BMT southern division lines are reverted to Shuttles.
Coney I. - 36 St via West End
Coney I. - 36 St via Sea Beach
Bay Ridge-95 St - 36 St
B63 is re-routed via 4 Av to replace service.
trains are running via the and via the center express track
and trains turn at Pacific St
A Shuttle train is running for ( trains between Kings Highway and Coney Island
( trains turn at Prospect Park
B68 is re-routed via E 14/15 Sts Between Kings Highway(B) and Prospect Park to replace trains
How about this:
No trains between Prospect Park and Brighton Beach.
Southbound trains run via the from West 4th St to Coney Island, then via the to 36 Street. Northbound, in reverse.
Trains extended via Coney Island to 59 Street station.
No trains between Pacific Street and Stillwell Avenue.
No trains between Parkside Avenue and Kings Highway.
No trains between Pacific Street and 36 Street.
passengers asked to use crosstown buses. customers advised to use trains via Stillwell Avenue.

I'm assuming tracks are unaffected here.
trains would have to run 4 Avenue Express, with limited service to squeeze in.
and trains turn at Prospect Park, Shuttle buses replace the rest of the line
And what if they are affected ( tracks)?
PS And what if no shuttle buses allowed?

How about this:
Structural collapse at Cortelyou Road ( and at Union Street . No trains can pass either station.
Expected duration: one week.
Practical suggestions please (e.g. no single-tracking for any significant distance, etc.)

M12: World Financial Center to East Village via Water St
Allows a direct connection between the World Financial Center, Battery Park City and Wall Street, East Village.
Isn't that a glorified version of the Downtown Connection?

They can add a station between 7th Avenue and Prospect Park on the and .
Where? In the middle of Prospect Park?

If by break down you mean frozen FINDs, then sure, they might break down more.
If you mean broken-so-train-must-be-taken-OOS, then I doubt that R160s break down more than 32s.

How come the last few stops on the are Entry only one side and Exit only the other side?
Because people were not expected to board a train for one stop.

This thread is an R179 Discussion, not R179 Foam Over Possible Manufacturers. Let's get back on a reasonable topic.
Any updates on when the contract will be confirmed?

First let's get the M8s in service.

The Second Avenue "Subway", whenever it opens, will be a grand total of four extra stops.

We can't see it because it's linked to your computer.

1. The (8), running local from Brooklyn Bridge to 125th St, then running with the , express from 149 St - Grand Concourse to East 180th St and then to Nereid Av from there, allowing the to consistently run to Eastchester. Runs 5 AM - 10 PM weekdays only. Runs R142s.
That would not work because the (8) would not all fit in one tunnel.

What would happen to either the Lex local or the Pelham line?

All this talk of 60 or 75 footers, isn't there a small possiblity that the R179's could be 67 footers? They can be used on the and with special modification. If I remember correctly, BMT Standards were 67 Ft., but they had special traction motors and trucks to allow them pass through the curves of the Myrtle/Canarsie lines.
Would the MTA really want to run 7-car trains of 67-footers (7*67=469 ft)? And modifications cost $$$, you know.

How is that, when you can swap R160's for R179's when they come in...
I thought all the 4-car R160 sets were already in the Eastern Division? So there are no replacements for the R42s except for the 60-ft R179s.
0 -
Are you sure? I'm being told the 179's will still be 75 footers.
In that case, the R42's will collapse before they are retired.

FASTRACK Subway Repair Discussion

Yes, I read your previous post. If they're not evenly spaced, a train will have to wait at W4 Street. It's not like trains can't stop.
And if trains can run at 30 tph ( ), they most likely can run at 30.5. And with the switches issue, it somehow works at Rogers Junction and in the Bronx!
If even that is not possible, only one line needs to end service early, like the for example. The © can keep running until whenever.
