  1. NEXT:

Rail issue with the Montauge Street tunnel south of Whitehall on the Broadway line, however, the Montauge Street tunnel can be used from Nassau Street without any problems. Also, there is a problem with the Rutgers Street tunnel that has limited service on the F line through that tunnel.

No (R) south of Whitehall. (J) to 95.

Some southbound ©s terminate at Canal St and some (F) trains run via Cranberry St.

    NEXT

B'way Lafayette impassable. Bleeker St is still open.

  2. Since you didn't, i'll propose a new scenario:

Due to construction of a new underground passageway from Barclay's Center to Atlantic Terminal, the (B /(Q) station & the (2)/(3)(4)/(5) local tracks are closed. Pacific Street is unaffected. All Atlantic Terminal LIRR trains have been rerouted to LIC. Just reroute subway lines.

    Remember:

    4 Avenue can't handle 5 lines.

The IRT Brooklyn Express tracks can't handle 4 lines.

Actually 4 Av can handle 5 lines.

Since each line (B, D, N, Q, R) runs 8 tph, three can run on one track and two on the other.

    My solution to this:

    (B) Trains run Brighton Beach - Coney Island - (West End / 4 Av Exp) - Pacific St - regular route to Bronx.

    (D)

    (N) Trains run via the (R) in both directions between Prince St and 59 St (Brooklyn).

    (Q) Trains run Prospect Park - Coney Island - (Sea Beach / 4 Av Exp) - Pacific St - regular route to Queens.

    (R)

    (2) No service south of Wall St.

    (3) Suspended

    (4) Trains run local from Franklin to New Lots Avs.

    (5)

    @FamousNYLover

Next: Due to Empire State Building collapse, 34th St-Herald Sq and 33rd St PATH Stations are closed. No track access on subway or PATH.

    Affected: B, D, F, M, N, Q, PATH trains.

    (B) 24 / 7 line, Coney Island, via Brighton Local to West 4 St.

    (C) Trains run express 59 St to Canal St.

    (D) No trains between 47/50 Sts and West 4 St. Trains at 47/50 relay via the crossover south of 57 (F).

    (F) Trains operate via the (E) in both directions between Roosevelt Av and W4 St.

    (J) Extended to 95 St via 4 Av Local.

    (M) Trains run via Nassau and Sea Beach to Coney Island.

    (N) No trains between Times Square and Coney Island.

    (Q) Suspended

    (R) Trains run via 63 St and terminate at 57 St/7 Av.

    (Z) Skip-stop suspended.

PATH All trains to 33 St operate to either Hoboken or WTC.

    Alternatives:

    Bronx/CPW to Brooklyn (B / D) - take the A or C between 59 St and W4 St.

Astoria to Brooklyn (N / Q) - take the 4 or 5 between 59 St and Canal St.

QBL to Brooklyn (R) - take the E or F to 53 St and transfer to the 6 to Canal St, where J service is available.

    NEXT

FASTRACK hits the Nassau and Broadway lines at the same time!

    Closures

Nassau Line - just south of Essex St to Broad St. Chrystie Cut can be used.

Broadway Line - 60 St tunnel to Dekalb Av.

Reroute J, N, and Q trains (assume the R ends early).

  3. This will be easy.

(A): Trains make all stops in Manhattan.

(:((D): Trains run local in both direction in Manhattan.

(Q): Trains run local and all trains terminate/originate at Ditmars Blvd during these times.

    NEXT:

Due to terror threat at Roosevelt Island Tram Station, nearby Roosevelt Island, Lexington Av-63rd St and 68th St-Hunters College and 59th St-Lex Av Stations are closed.

The problem with your solution is that (A)(C)(E) trains can't all fit on one track, and (:)(D)(F)(M) trains can't all fit on one track.

    @your plan:

    (N) No trains north of 57 St. Trains run via tunnel.

    (Q) No trains north of 57 St.

    (R) No trains north of 36 St, Brooklyn.

    (4) No trains between 86 St and 42 St. Trains run local 42 St - Brooklyn Bridge.

    (5) Trains run via the (2) in Manhattan.

    (6) No trains south of 86 St.

    (F) Trains run via (E) 5 Av/53 St to Roosevelt Av.

    (M) No trains between 71/Continental and 57 St (F).

    NEXT

    5 Av / 53 St impassable.

  4. Seriously...your posts DESPERATELY need checking on a track map. Besides, all you have to do is send the (;)(D)(N)(Q) local and cut the (M) to Broad.

    @Your scenario:

If there is no problem with T4, then why not send (Q) trains there? If there is, then how would anything go there?

  5. For both of the plans mentioned above, the (A)(E)(F) (or, even worse, the (A)(E)(F)(M)) would not all fit on one track (the short segment at W4 St needed for (A)s to switch back to 8 Av).

    My solution:

    (A) No trains between 14 St and 59 St. Transfer between sections via B/D trains.

    (C) No trains between Chambers St and 168 St. Use the A/B/D instead.

    (D) Trains stop at 72 St to allow (A) trains to terminate at 59 St.

    (E) Trains run via the (F) between 5 Av/53 St and West 4 St.

    (M) Trains run in two sections:

    • 71 Av to Whitehall St, via the (R) in Manhattan.
    • Broad St to Metropolitan Av, via the (J) in Manhattan.

    (Q) The last stop on some Astoria-bound trains is 57 St/7 Av.

Transfer between sections at Canal St.

    (1) No trains between 96 St and South Ferry. Downtown trains run express from 137 St to South Ferry.

    (2) No trains between 42 St and 14 St.

    (3) Service suspended.

    (4) Trains run to New Lots Av.

    NEXT

    23 St & B'way - uptown express track impassable.

23 St & 6 Av - uptown express track impassable.

  6. First of all, it's not a separate issue. You act like Neptune Avenue is this Avenue separate from Emmons Avenue. What do you think Emmons Avenue turns into past Shore Blvd???

Second of all, the main purpose of running the buses is to serve the riders, which is who??? THE COMMUNITY, which includes the businesses. I also am getting rather annoyed with your nonchalantness of saying that it's okay for a "few businesses" to go under. Well yeah it's easy for you to say since it's not your family that has to be fed and clothed, and shuttered businesses does nothing but further damages the community. It affects EVERYONE, including these riders that you keep talking about. You're obsessed with costs, but lets see bus service be taken away from Richmond Avenue and you'd see the effects that it would have on your community. The (MTA) knows the effects that taking away transportation from a community has, but they were hell bent on cutting that portion of the B4 and I have no idea why either.

It's impossible to please everyone. I'm pretty sure non-Neptune Av riders were annoyed by the Av Z > Neptune > Av Z > Emmons turns, which wasted time.

Besides, how many people would take a bus to go to a deli?

  7. NEXT:

Due to terror thread at Top of Rock, 47th-50th Sts, 5th Av-53rd St and 7th Av-53rd St Stations are impassable.

    Provide shuttle buses and buses.

Streets Closure: Affect regular bus and shuttle buses.

    5th-6th Avs between 42nd & 57th Sts

    7th Av-Broadway from 53rd St to 46th Sts.

Madison Av from 46th to 49th Sts.

    I'll do the trains:

(:) Trains run via Broadway Express and 63 St to 179 St.

    (D) Trains run via Broadway Express and 63 St to 179 St.

    (E) 7 tph service between Jamaica Center and Lex / 53.

    (F) Trains run via the (C) from W4 to 145 St, then via the (D) to 205 St.

    (G) Extended to Forest Hills / 71.

    (M) No trains between 42 St - Bryant Pk and 71 Av.

    (N) Trains run via the (R) from Dekalb Av to 57 St.

    (Q) Trains run via the (R) from Dekalb Av to 57 St.

    (R) Trains run via the (E) between Queens Plaza and Jamaica Center.

    NEXT

Express tracks out of service at 28 St (1). Note that (1)(2)(3) trains cannot all fit on one track, and (2) trains can't fit on Lexington.

Since some service will have to be cut, run extra trains to accommodate passengers.

  8. Today there were quite a few announcements about 'Due to a police investigation at Canal Street, there is no Coney Island-bound F service from Jay St to Church Av. There is no G service from Bedford-Nostrand to Church Av. Some F trains are running on the D from B'way Laf to Coney Island'.

No, I did not mishear Canal Street.

  9. (:) Suspended

    (D) No trains between W4 and 59 Sts.

    NEXT

8 Av Local uptown track closed at 23 St. Reroute service such that no services are suspended or in-two-sectioned. Also, no (M) to Broad.

@Abba: click on 'NYC Subway' where the path to the thread is shown.

  10. (E) Queens-bound trains run via the (F) from West 4 St to 5 Av/53 St.

    (F) Trains run via 8 Av Local and then replace the (:)(D) from 59 St to 205 St. Downtown, trains run via (B)(D) after 59 St instead of via 8 Av Local.

    (D) No trains between W4 and 205 St.

    (B) Trains run via the (Q) to 57/7.

    NEXT

Canal St (B'way) Bridge Level closed. Also, a problem at Whitehall St means that only the middle track can be used.

  11. NEXT

    (J) line is closed at Gates Av.

Challenge: make it so that (J) passengers who would normally have a one-seat ride only have to transfer twice (not 3 times) to go from a (J) at B'way Jct to a (J) at Myrtle Av.

Hints: forget about the (Z), and tweak the (M) a bit.
