  1. Very slow timers into Nostrand station. If ATS doesn't give that lineup to go into Nostrand the has no choice but sit there. The sequence is: 1. Everything in the area N/B at danger (if it isn't already). 2. Give or waiting at President the lineup. 3. Give that piece of approach timers in Nostrand to allow a to close in on the switch.
  2. Any stop on NTT 142/142A can be made and shown as the terminal when done right. Trains can turn at President or Church Av, head south of the station and change ends (enter on the northbound track).
  3. Some that go down don't even come back up until the PM rush (they stay down there in Livonia)
  4. The and stack up pretty well between Grand Army Plaza and Franklin Avenue on the local track.
  5. Yeah I saw one today, and someone was videotaping out the rfw with an iphone of some sort on the today
  6. Even at rush hour, the line going south don't start until just north of 86th earliest. Now going north, from time to time it starts at 103.
  7. When its timed correctly you don't even hear that second part, so it would appear to those not paying attention that no announcement was cut off (even though supervisors who may be on the train would know anyway, but it didnt sound wrong and c/r's believe that info is wrong as most tourists can't even find the if they went upstairs anyway).
  8. Nope. Just finished t/o training some time ago, where u do have to operate on every line in the system so i get to fill in the gaps for what i dont know already. I was a c/r in the irt for years so thats how i know bout that div
  9. 59th Street (Lex Express, both directions). In this case we're talking northbound, as there are no timers to slow you up (yet). It's the IRT equivalent of that nice quick run from 59-42 on the .
  10. Oh yeah forgot bout Cypress Hills/Ridgewood. Most T/O don't challenge 59th and only get it up to bout 45 before coasting/braking.
  11. (EDUCATED RESPONSE) At the moment there's only three 100% IND lines and four 100% BMT lines . The rest are hybrids, spending time in both tunnel systems. As far as this question goes, pends what you talking about... When it comes to speed not going to mention what used to be, some of us were around (when trains in both divisions hit 50 without too much of a problem) and some of us were not, I go by what is there now. For all the "IND is built for speed people", the fastest tube is in BMT territory (I hit 58 in a R46). But the fastest local station stop is in the IND (Fastest I entered there was 46 in a R46, I can get higher in a R160 but I have to stop at the 8-car so I don't keep power on all the way down). Current 45+ speed recs (all within the previous 6 weeks): 58 - 60th st tube, R46 (BMT) 51 - Between 34 and W4, R68 (IND) 50 - Northern Blvd cut, R160 (IND) 49 - Entering W4, R68A (IND) 49 - Entering Newkirk, R68A (BMT) *yesterday* 47 - Entering 42nd n 8th, R32 (IND) 46 - Entering 42nd n 8th, R46 (IND) 46 - Entering 63rd Drive, R46 (IND) In the IRT there aren't as many spots, mostly because the stations are so close together, and even the express runs are generally shorter and timed. The best I've seen in my few years as a C/R: 52 - Joralemon tube, R142 49 - Between Hunts Point and Parkchester, R142A 48 - Between GC and 59, R142 46 - Between Allerton Av and Pelham Pkwy, R142 Of course higher numbers were achieved years ago when things were faster I kinda get tired of hearing stores of slant 40s entering Newkirk at 55 and making a station stop lol. As far as women go... Latinas - Between 149th-GC and Mosholu Pkwy , Bedford Park and 145th , 231st - 137th , 207th - 168th , Junction Blvd - Queensboro Plaza , Woodhaven Blvd - 65th . Blacks - Canarsie , Bway Jnct , Church Av - Flatbush Av , Parsons/Archer , Allerton Av - 241st , Gun Hill Rd - Dyre Av , Utica Av . Eastern Europeans - Ave J - Ocean Pkwy , Bay Ridge Av - 95th, Neptune Av - Ditmas Av , Graham Av - Bedford Av . Asians - Main St , 9Av - Bay Pkwy , 8Av - Ave U . Take you pick, the rest of the areas have a little of everything. Equipment... The only IND specific train right now is the R32, the only BMT specific train at the moment is the R143, everything else (that's not IRT) is shared by both divisions. I heard a comment about IRT "boxlike" trains, and if anything the R32 is the most boxlike train in the system as it's almost as wide as it is tall.
  12. Thats just where the previous company put their stations. It's not that its far, its just part of it is going thru/over the yard. You think there should be a station in between? The longer distance is actually from Pelham Pkwy to Gun Hill. That's the only place in the system I would add a station (at Allerton Avenue)
  13. Widening tubes and retrofitting stations (which means just trim the plats bout 6 inches while extending them about 50 feet each) might be cheaper in the long run as proven CBTC-ready 600 foot 160 equipment is just a switch away at QBP. It's not like there's 50 stations each way to do like some other unmentioned lines in the system lol.
  14. Since the other one was updated, could also be vandalism.
  15. Its legal, both loops are designated revenue track.
  16. You can still ride in the last car on the evenings after 9pm/weekends and RFW that station (out the side window lol). Its perfectly legal, and the station looks frozen in time from the last time it was open.
  17. Was u standing there at Stillwell (D) last week in the late morning?

  18. I think the was 31 miles 207 to Far Rock (longest line in the system), and 37 miles from Wakefield-241 to at Far Rock or something like that (longest continuous ride in the system).
  19. Nope, straight off the street. HS diploma + 5 years full time work (not self-employed), take one year off for each year of full time school, limit 4 years.
