New Transilien

Recommended Posts

The Transilien is the brand name for railway services of the SNCF-owned railway network operating within Paris' Île-de-France région. "Transilien" is a derivative of "Francilien", a term commonly used to describe the inhabitants of the Île-de-France région. Transilien trains depart from Paris' main railway and RER stations (although many city-centre RER stations are run by the RATP) and the western business district of La Défense.

Since 2009, there is a new electric MU train in service now. It is the SPACIUM 3.O6 (Z 50000; SNCF) by Bombardier with a maximum speed of 140 km/h. Bombardier producing 20-40 trains per year.

Those are very nice trains, especially the interiors...very French!

Too bad they'll be vandalized within the next year or two. The Transilien serves "la banlieue" (the suburbs), who's residents are primarily poor.

:(I hope not, but there a video cameras inside. Here in Germany, some suburb trains have also video cameras and now after some years in service, they are still looking new. ;)

That first video (Intervention de police dans le RER) took place on the parisian RER D line, one of the most hardcore lines in the western world. There is nothing in the US that could compare with that line.

One day, I was with my wife waiting for an RER B at Châtelet - Les Halles, a three platform station (D in the middle, B on the sides) when a fight between rival gangs breaks out on the D platform. They're going at it big time (one of the passengers on one of the D's pulls the emergency cord to watch the fight.) After a couple minutes, the police show up and get involved in the scuffle. So what happens? The gangs stop fighting each other and now start going toe-to-toe with the cops! Bad sh*t happens on the D all the time!

I am convinced that if you took the hardest gang we have here in New York and stuck them in Paris that the New Yorkers would come home crying to mommy. The 93 is nothing to play with.

Are you from France?

My extended family comes from there. I've been to France exactly 20 times (21 if you count St. Martin & St. Barth, 22 coming up this October) and I speak the language fluently.

That's great, do you have an EU passport?

Some things are wrong here, immigrant riots are the expression of the neoliberal politics of the government. The welfare state has been reduced in recent years, reduced taxes, privatized much and now we have the problems. It will not be long in Paris and we have conditions like in Detroit.B)

It looks like a night club on wheels! I'm loving the interior design and the convenient gap fillers! Very "sexy" looking train! Thanks for this great share Citaro!

Thanks, no problem;)
