"Goodfellas" 20 Years Later

Today, Sept. 19, 2010 marks the debut of one of the most critically acclaimed films of the last 50 years, "Goodfellas." Although it was only released in several cities across the US on 9/19/90, technically the international widescreen debut of this classic was Christmas Day, 1990.

So has any one you seen this mob/crime classic based on the true story from a book by Mobster turned FBI informant Henry Hill? I love this film and enjoy more than even the 'Godfather' series. The impact of Goodfellas is huge such as having been the influence for the Sopranos later debuting on HBO a few years later. Not to mention this classic was shot all over the NYC and Long Island areas in 1989-early '90.

In a bit of a surprise, "Goodfellas' lost the 1990 Best Picture Oscar nod to Kevin Costner's "Dancing with the Wolves.'

Guys if you never seen it, it was worth watching it. Go rent it on DVD and also it airs on Cable TV alot such as on channels AMC, Bravo or TBS/TNT.

Feel free to reply.

FYI. I think there was several gang shootout at the Green Acres Mall and several cities around the country as well, at a screening of this back in 1990 as well.

Here an article on the impact of Goodfellas and a clip from the film.
