Joel Up Front Posted January 11, 2011 Share #1 Posted January 11, 2011 Why do subway cars have two different sets of lights? When do train operators use either?
bveguy Posted January 11, 2011 Share #2 Posted January 11, 2011 Because one marks the end and the other one marks the operating motor? T/Os use neither when they don't want to blind the T/O on the train coming in. They have to drop the circuit breaker for that.

bveguy Posted January 11, 2011 Share #4 Posted January 11, 2011 Nope, center the reverser. Oh really? I thought centering the reverser turns on the red lights.

On the SMEE we just center the reverser. On an R142/A we can put the reverser switch in reverse, but what happens is the tail-lights come on in front, and the headlights will light up in the rear, and if you have a close follower, it will blind them. There are circuit breakers to kill the lights, but as stated, we are not allowed to use them, unless the breaker trips..........
